All of that isn't done for you? :confused3

When I say prep work, I mean get the good dishes and silverware out and get them run through the dishwasher. Put the leaves into the table. That kind of stuff. I have to make veggies, but there is not too much prep work to open a bag of frozen grren beans;)

From Mom's cook book.... and my Blue Ribbon 4-H recipie

1 1/2cups powdered sugar
1cup butter , softened
1teaspoon vanilla
1/2teaspoon almond extract
1egg
2 1/2cups all-purpose flour
1teaspoon baking soda
1teaspoon cream of tartar
Granulated sugar or colored sugar
1.Mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract and egg in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients except granulated sugar. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.

2.Heat oven to 375ºF. Lightly grease cookie sheet.

3.Divide dough in half. Roll each half 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes with 2- to 2 1/2-inch cookie cutters.

Sprinkle with granulated sugar. Place on cookie sheet..Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until edges are light brown. Remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.

Watch these puppies closely.. they burn very very easy

Keep re- flouring the rolling pin... and the cookie cutters between rolls and cuts..

And we always rolled them out on Wax Paper.. and keep your dough in the refrigerator... between uses.

OMG Janet! I'm going to pee my pants! You make me laugh!

Katt, thanks! I'll try them! Keep the recipes coming girls! Oh, and Katt, do you think I can use vanilla instead of almond? I know that it might compromise the taste but the boys are allergic to almond....

Off to Dr. Seigle. Let you chickies know how it goes!

HI Fockers, don't faint that I am here 2 days in a row.

Just was reading and catching up.

Jo - I'm jealous, wish I was going to the Motherland, I got 2.5 months until I go back.

Janet - you are my kinda baker:lmao:

Wanna know what I best at making....

Reservations;)

Why are we still talking about that 4 letter word?

Mel - good luck at the Dr.

So Bonnie is doing great, she even is sort of back at work, she stopped by yesterday to take care of the boys instead the woman that had been covering for her. She is easing back into things.

I am so looking forward to the long weekend, we are closing at 3 tomorrow and I think I don't have to bring any work home either (it's year end now so we are even busier than usual)

OK Fockers I'm outta of here.

BYE!

Hi, all!

D got home right before the boys' bedtime, so I was hanging with him last night. ;) Y'all got a little chatty!

Jodi, sounds busy... :faint:

Jo, great deal.

Katt, we WILL go momma on your butt, so take care of yourself.

Kat, glad you had fun, again. ;)

Janet, glad you get out a little early tomorrow.

Hi Angela, Rosie, Mr. T, Lessa... everyone else I'm forgetting.

**********************************************
I had my tennis practice this morning, which was fun. I'm doing laundry and I've mostly packed for the boys, assuming that we will go tomorrow afternoon.

In the morning, though - since we have to wait as D's on call until 5:00, we are going to my friend's house, so I wanted to be done today. Then the tennis pro asked if I could sub into a class tonight from 6:00-7:30. I shouldn't, but I'm either going or sending D instead.

So, I really need to get off the computer and pack for myself. That way, if D doesn't want to go to tennis, I can go and he can pack whilst I'm gone. :thumbsup2 I'll be done, so it doesn't hurt for me to go... :rolleyes1

Anyway...

D dropped a bombshell on me last night, then fell asleep! :rotfl: He told me he's applying for a promotion within the department. I have no idea what's happening to the current guy in the position, then D said something about hiring "two" to replace him (which is the "Chief Pilot" position, and I've been around aviation long enough to know that there are not usually more than one pf those in any company), and so he and 2 other guys are applying, at least partly because they really don't want a fourth pilot whom they all really, really dislike, to be one of the two hired.

We were watching a show, so he said he'd explain more later, then promptly fell asleep! I'm really curious, because it's more management and less flying, which I didn't think he was thrilled about, but then again, it should also be a substantial pay raise and so forth. And then I don't get why they'd look for 2 people, and I really am just nosy about what's going on with the current guy. Of course, he might not get it, but...

Craziness.

He actually just called from the office and thinks we look good to go for tomorrow, :thumbsup2 though we still have to play it safe and leave at the right time for him to be on call until 5:00. So I need to go pack, but I'll check back in before I have to go pick up the boys for their tennis lesson.

DO you really want to know how I do cookie cutter cookies??? OK, get a pencil...Write this down....

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Off to Dr. Seigle. Let you chickies know how it goes!

MEL

Good luck, Mel

*********************************

Hey all :goodvibes I've been gone too long and I'm trying to catch up.

Hugs to all who need them

I've just been told that a picture fell off the wall upstairs and has left a dent in the wall. I'll be back.

I USUALLLY use Vanilla.. The almond makes a great add for these.. but
Works great the other way as well..

Oh BTW... the Splenda that is now half sugar.. half splenda.. works in these.. but lower the temp back to 350 ( if you ever want to give it a try)

Would he want to do less flying. I thought he really enjoyed it! Although more $$ is always a good thing. Would it be a more stable schedule?

In Philly they don't close the schools unless the bus company decides that the buses can't run. Usually 6 - 8 inches before they will shut down.

That much would close us for a MONTH :rotfl2:

Me too, but you have to take care of yourself too. DOn't make us all go Mama on you:hug:

Katt, we WILL go momma on your butt, so take care of yourself.

So were you awake the rest of the night ??
THat really sounds a lot like... "Oh honey I bought a new Chain Saw.. it was on sale" Like no big deal... I think the light would have come on..or I pull the covers backs... and come back with a " Flying Daddy say What"

:rotfl: :rotfl:

Just checking in between errands.....

Talked with my friend and she said that they don't gluten allergies per se, but just sensitivities. So, I'm safe. In fact, she said that I could put potatoes and carrots in the pot roast too. Her DH won't eat the potatoes, but it's not an allergy, so it won't bother him if they're touching the meat. So, we're totally safe on the food.

I'm off to get my hair cut in a few. It won't look any different than normal though. The problem with having short hair is that you need it cut more often! Then I have to stop at the bank and then home again.

ED!!!! I didn't know you were not feeling well. I guess I need to check out the facebook thing soon, huh? I haven't ventured there yet. I figure I spend way too much time on the computer already. Maybe after Thanksgiving....

Mel - am sending up good wishes for your appointment and waiting for good news!

I'll check in again later!

Just trying to catch up a bit during my lunch hour...Sorry, if I miss anyone, I've got about seven pages to scan. So many pages, so little time...:confused3 I'm giving :grouphug: to all of you at the outset, and a feel better to those who are sick, or have sick children/spouses.

Don't forget to check out resales. The DVC boards has a thread that people post what they paid for a resale per point. I think people were saying that DVC has not been buying back the SSR points and you can get a good deal on SSR resales.
We love DVC and would like to add some more points.
We used our points to stay at Vero Beach last Spring and loved it. We also want to try Hilton Head.
Thx for the advice! I've been trying to get a better feel for the whole program and the break even points, so I've been reading a bit on the DVC boards generally. The resale option is definitely on the table.

I now have Sarabeth home. School called because she was so miserable. So I see she has been on line  .But had nothing to say excpet she likes snow....
I'm working from home at the moment. I got a call during my meeting this morning from the school and picked up DD8.99 with a tummy ache. I participated in the rest of the meeting by telephone.

Daughters getting OLDER will SCARE A DAD to Death.. because the Dad's remember Being .... BOY'S !!!
:scared:

Bolt was great! We saw it in 3-D and trust me Dawn you didn't miss anything seeing the "regular" film. The 3-D effects were not all that special, if I had the option I would not pay the extra to see it in 3-D. The movie itself was wonderful though. Lots of laughs for adults and kids. :thumbsup2
We saw Madagascar 2 over the weekend. We'll probably see Bolt sometime soon, so it's great to hear a review.

My Mom WOULD have helped.. and even when she was so sick from "Radiation Treatments" she STILL cooked some apple pies and made Mexican cornbread for Scott.
I'm back and collected again. My mom passed away from cancer in July, so this comment sent me off the deep end for a bit. I went downstairs and spent some time with my "sick" daughter for a while.

I'd better get back to work at this point; I'll have to go outside to wait for the school bus in about half an hour to wait for DS6.

It Gets Easier... But there are still moments. Both of my parents had it. Mom survived her Cancer.. But she went through H e l l.
Did not realize you had such a fresh wound.
You have siblings
??

Would he want to do less flying. I thought he really enjoyed it! Although more $$ is always a good thing. Would it be a more stable schedule?

See, I don't know. I am half afraid he's just trying to block this other guy, but doesn't want to really do it, but I don't know because he fell asleep! :rotfl: The current guy in that position still flies fairly often (and if they're splitting his duties to two people, that would probably also mean a few more flights for the two than if it was just one replacement), but not as much as just the "regular" pilots. It would probably mean a lot more days just down in the hangar, though - which is too bad, because I like that he's here at home when he's not flying, if you KWIM.

I'll find out more, it's just on the top of my mind today.

If I don't see you before you leave, drive safely and wave to me as you pass through Philly

Will do. I'll probably take the Jersey Thruway and skim by Philly, but I'll think of you!

So were you awake the rest of the night ??

No, but after falling asleep on the couch and then right away once we went up, HE woke up in the middle of the night. By then, I was gone, though. ;)

*****************************************
I'm packed as well as can be without the laundry that's still drying. My current plan is to pick up the boys and take them to their lesson. We'll hang out for a bit, then eat there at the club. D can meet us, and then whichever of us stays for the evening class can stay, and the others of us will go home with the kids.

So, I'm off for all that.

I'll try to stop by later tonight, because I doubt I'll be on much tomorrow or the weekend, though I am taking the computer with me. :grouphug:

When I say prep work, I mean get the good dishes and silverware out and get them run through the dishwasher. Put the leaves into the table. That kind of stuff. I have to make veggies, but there is not too much prep work to open a bag of frozen grren beans;)

No work! It's vacation. :goodvibes

Well, good luck if you want it! ;)

At least it's upstairs, so if you're having company, they won't see it. ;)

Thanks! My dad passed away about 20 years ago, and there are still moments. I'm sure it will get easier over time, but for now, I'm never quite sure what will trigger a memory or a thought that will bring on the grief.

It does make planning the June trip a little more difficult at times. My mom was with us on most of our family WDW trips.
