Dude, after Hurricane Hugo, when we had no power but did get water back, I heated untold numbers of pots of water on a camp stove, just to take a bath! Clean hair makes all teh difference in an emergnecy.
Oh, and as of 10am this morning, Publix was out of water.

So do you fill up the Bathtub and every thing that will hold water ??
Not because of Hurricanes...( flooding issues) but I have had to fill tubs, buckets, pots and pans, OLD METAL WASHTUBS with water so we had it for washing and such.

I have been through 1 tornado.. and that's all the swirling wind power I ever want to see again.

Thanks everyone. Bob is not better yet. He's still hurting and um...swollen. He's probably going to die of embarrassment.....
But, he's typing his update!!!!

Yeah.. I'm trying to talk Scott into writing on mine in a few installments when he did the "Behind the Steam Tour"

Tomorrow night is the concert and it looks as if I'll be sheparding my two sons through a throng of heavy metal headbangers ALL ALONE. Poor Bob. He loves Judas Priest and the tix cost $95 a piece!!! Hoping for a miracle....

We have been hemming and hawing, but it looks like we'll go to the nearby (5 minutes away) lake beach with our inflatable raft. It's a nice place with ice cream and stuff, shade, and a nice shallow swimming area, so the water might even be warm.

Sounds like the fun and relaxtion you NEED right now CE!

Yep. The tub is mostly for washing. I've got a full arsenal of plastic bottles and pitchers for drinking water, plus the two big stew pots for cooking. And I've got shelf-stable milk, juice boxes, and various canned meals in the pantry.

Oh, and for added fun... no power = no sewer lift station. No lift station = NO FLUSHING!



Well, shoot. I haven't done any writing yet, but my sheets are clean and I'm packed - again. I'm off to write a closing paragraph or two on the roles of artistic intent and contextual analysis in aesthetic theory. Wish me luck!

On the subject of panic attacks... I'm reminded now why i keep a Rx of Xanax around... Hurricnae Stres. I'm having heart palpitations and can't get a deep breath, and am shaking all over. Just took a half-dose and starting to feel better. Oy.

So I have managed to do a whole lot of nothing today.

I have my list of to do's prior to leaving for wieniefest, but most of it's being done Wednesday as I amm off that day.

Was just listening to the weather channel. Direct quote "If you are going to be in the them park area have your umbrellas handy (Tuesday and Wednesday) but otherwise all should be well. Looks like me and Lessa will at least be able to get in. Since I didn't have anything planned for Tuesday I'm not concerned about it...Wednesday was supposed to be DHS day, but that can be changed as long as we can GET THERE!

Just got back from Lowes and all the other errands we had to do. Stopped at the inlaws to sing Happy Birthday to FIL. Now Jim is doing the lawn and I am finishing up the luandry so I can (Look away T and Mo) pack!

Tomorrow will be just as busy but I hope to be able to check in! Chat with you all later.

I hope we can get in, our flight is scheduled to land at 7pm Tuesday which is around the time Fay would be directly over Orlando. We are seriously considering the flying into Jacksonville option and then driving down. It would put us in town around 3pm which would hopefully have us checked into the hotel before she hits. We don't know yet, won't decide for sure what we are going to do until tomorrow night. There is an earlier flight to Orlando that would get us in around 12:30, we may try and get on that flight as well.

We are acheduled to arrive at 9:00am, so hopefully we will be okay. If was just Jim and I wouldn't care about delays, but trying to entertain Jimmy I was going to have him bring 3 movies for the portable DVD Player, but I may have him bring 6 or 7 just in case!

Hello everyone! Just checking in from lovely rainy Miami. Yup we are officially starting to get some of the outer bands of Tropical Storm Fay.
And I have to go to work! It's gonna be a loooong night.

Other than that everything is fine, I feel bad for all those working in the grocery stores over the weekend. Like I said people tend to overreact WAY too much somtimes in South Florida. I blame it all on Andrew oh and Katrina, since she was a Tropical Storm that apparently turned into Hurricane as it moved over us. But I digress. I start worrying when those suckers are at least high category 2 Hurricanes. That's when power outages and stuff get really bad.

I would just take the delay, but that's me; the earlier flight sounds good, but it still may be delayed. All this storm sucks really sucks.

Well just checking in for probably my last time! Everything seems ok with the flight in the morning but I;m gonna be watching the weather and checking online in the AM. I am leaving the house about 5:30am tomorrow so hopefully I get some sleep tonight!

I just care about getting there, being wet I can deal with! I;m about to make some pasta for dinner and just spend some time with KC and the kitty tonight. it's really weird to be leaving KC home when I head to WDW! His list of 'to-do's while i'm gone is LONG.

we had gage's b-day party today. it was small, but fun. the boys just played guitar hero. gage got a nintendo dsl from us. a lego star wars set and money. he's very happy!!! we're going to columbus tomorrow for 4 days. my dh has to go there for work for 4 days, so we're just going to tag along and go to the zoo and the childrens muesum. best part is we'll get in for free to both!!!!! we have membership in cleveland to zoo and science center, so we get in free to other zoos and childrens muesums. the hotel has a pool, so the kids will have a blast. but, that also means no computer time for me! our laptop needs a new hard drive, so all i have is the desk top. so , if i dont' "see" you guys going to focker fest, have a blast!!!!!! cant wait to hear the details!!!
