Another question for my Focker peeps...

Tell me about widescreen TVs. I have a 26" regular TV (read: sqaure) and I'm going CRAZAZY with all the widescreen movies & shows. They're reduced so much to fit the width of my screen it's hard to see much of anything. If I select a different format, everything gets distorted. Bleeeh.

So, I'm considering the purchase of an LCD widescreen TV. It would still be a 26" to fit inside my armoire, but I'd be working with a rectangle instead of a square, which I'm presuming will result in widescreen movies/shows actually appearing larger than they do on my current square screen.

A I right about that? Or will there still be a letter-box format? If there's still some letter-boxing, will it at least be larger than it is now?! I swear, I can't go through another football season nor watch another Harry Potter movie in widescreen format with a square screen! :scared:

Happy Birthday T

tinkhappybday.gif

Joooooo...I'll hold your ladder for you next time. Jus give me a call! :lmao:
Will do :rotfl2:

Hey there Jo! I am just about to put up the last of dozens of plantation blinds in our house. My husband gets upset at me being up on the ladder too. One time he came in when I had the big heavy drill in my hand and told me he wanted strawberry shortcake for dinner. Luckily it was a new drill and I did not want to hurt it by 'accidentally' dropping it on his head. :lmao:
:rotfl2:

I have to agree with David on this one Jo. Are you crazy you could have fallen and not gotten up :sad2:
OK Janet I won't do it again :rotfl2:

Hey all. Stopped at Target on the way home from work. GOt the Birthday boy the game Operation...THe Incredible Hulk version. If he doens't like it they can take it back. I had no clue what to get:confused3
Sounds a great pressie and goodluck with your sale tomorrow!

Grinds the stump and SHATTERS my french doors. No kidding. I should post a pic tomorrow! GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! :furious:
OMG Mel that sounds terrible, hope it all gets sorted!

Hi Janet!! I`m just catching up on everyones lives...got the chicks today, they are in a doggie crate behind me,,I think they finally fell asleep, no loud chirping,they were just hatched yesterday...
They're so cute Carrie, how long do they stay in doors for?

how pathetic,, i can't even last 20 minutes... :rotfl2: :confused3
Sounds like me too :rotfl2:

My motha is coming to town tomorrow. :sad2:

Doesn't she know we just spent a week and a half together and I'm vacationing from our vacation? :rotfl:
Sorry Jen but :rotfl2: Oh and my DSis had her DS's under 11 months apart :eek:

Good morning! I am feeling a bit better, but have a ton to do to catch up from feeling bad for so much of the week. :faint: I think the meds are taking the edge off the pain.
That's great news Dawn :hug:

A I right about that? Or will there still be a letter-box format? If there's still some letter-boxing, will it at least be larger than it is now?! I swear, I can't go through another football season nor watch another Harry Potter movie in widescreen format with a square screen! :scared:
We have a new LCD (I think) TV (rectangular) and the screen gets completely filled with the film, no black strips :thumbsup2

Played another golf comp today, it was a knockout ladies pairs competition and we won again :yay:

Good Morning everyone! Thanks for the birthday wishes, although I've finally crossed that threashold and will no longer be celebrating birthdays. Today I am 36! :eek: How did THAT happen?? I'm much too cool to be 36! :smokin: ;)

Dang. They beat me to it....

HAPPY B-DAY T!!!!!!!!!! LY/MI :hug:
Heh hehheh! ;)

Only if you have widescreen DVD's will your picture be rectangle. For regular TV, you'll just have to adjust the settings. I think. :rolleyes1 I'll ask Andy for you. ;)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ed: You chick babies are ADORABLE!!! I love the black one!!! :lovestruc
Did someone say DIM SUM???? :hyper:
I'm off to school now - going to get my semi-annual hair cut today - my layers are all crazy and my hair's touching my butt crack! :eek:
Andy and I are going to lunch then some shopping. Have to buy Waldo something for his birthday, it's tomorrow. :thumbsup2
BTW, I went to another Orthodontist yesterday - I finally found my man!!! :worship: The price went down 4K and he's a specialist for my condition!! :woohoo: Here's the kicker.... his office is Hawaiian themed and he even wears jeans and a Hawaiian shirt - NO SCRUBS!! I love it, it's like being at the Poly!! :yay: I start treatment next week. :teeth: I'm so excited!!
Crap, I'm late!!! TTLY!!
2nd year I'm 39, 3rd year I'm 39 ... etc... :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
And I am NOT TELLING how many Anniversaries I am on..." I am quite simply Young enough to remember Old enough not to tell" ;) :lmao:
O.K it is 90 degrees outside and 10:00 am.. Mel... we should be able to sweat off 40 pounds in Florida easily.. OMG:faint: The heat is the only thing making us forget about the gas prices.:worried:
Have a wonderful day :goodvibes
Mel, how on earth did the guy shatter your doors? What a pain.
I hope everyone is having a good Friday morning. Hang in there with the heat. :sunny:
Kate: OMG! He was grinding the stump and hit some gravel and it flung gravel at the house and it shattered the door! Ugh. Seriously! You would think he'd have the discharge shoot facing AWAY from the WALL of GLASS!!??
It is already 85 here! We have huge humidity and it's sunny. My poor DS10 has field day at school from 1:15 pm-3:15pm. I told him, we will leave when you are ready! If you don't want to do field day in the 90 degree heat/humidity you don't have to! Gosh! :( I am bringing the Mickey Mouse spray/fan thingy! It kept me alive in FL last Sept....
Everyone else is dealing with it too it seems. I looked at the weather and it's way hot everywhere!
Poor Janet! Get the squirt guns filled!
V: I was going to comment, but Jo beat me to it. You won't have any "black sides" on the newer tvs... But, be warned that 26" is going to be VERY hard to find. I think 30" is standard starting size...
Mel
*gotta go finish cleaning...it's so flippin hot!! I want it DONE*
Its chillly and rainy here right now. but its supposed to be a hot weekend.
yesterday I went to the package store where I work, to pick up boxes to bring the chicks home in,and I asked my manager for my check and wondered outloud why it hasnt been deposited in my Acct yet. she looked it up and turns out she forgot to put in my hours to payroll! So next week I will get a check for 2 weeks, she felt really bad, even offered to lend me the money,,I can wait, I`ll just make my Disney pmt next week insead of this week..:goodvibes this way I cant spend it either...I was think of chineese last night, but couldnt, so I saved 50 bucks! :thumbsup2
My friend e-mailed me that her new husband is n the hospital for some sort of Colon infection, she cant spell the name, he has a high fever and might have to do surgery, anybody know what this is? :confused3
You're right Mel - 26 inch is hard to find. Try Target, V. ;)
Sucks about your check, Ed. Wonder what kind of infection he has... colitis, perhaps? Where's Rachel? She our FOCKER nurse. ;)
I want it just below my shoulder blades. My fringe (;)) is past my chin! I'll post pics tomorrow.
I will do my best to help. We have a 47" Panasonic widescreen tv and they are great. We purchase all our movies in widescreen format. Sometimes there is still small black lines on the top and bottom. It depends on the format size. 2.35 to 1, 1.85 to 1 ratio type thing. You hardly notice them. When you watch regular tv there are settings on the tv to stretch the picture to fit the screen. They do it do the action in the middle has as little stretch as posible. I have 4 settings. pan, 4:3, full, and just. Just is where i keep it as the people look best and fills my screen completly. Try to get a tv with 1080i as that is the best going at the moment. It will play high defenition movies and bluerays movies best if your going that route. I would measure the hole of your entertainment center and compare it to the tv's in the store. You might find the tv you think you need is to big or to small. You also might find you will get rid of your current entertainment center and opt for a bigger widescreen. That's what we did and havent regreted our decision. I hope that helps some.
OK Janet I won't do it again :rotfl2:
Good...I wouldn't want to have to hop on a plane just to come smack you upside the head:hug:
Sounds a great pressie and goodluck with your sale tomorrow!
Thanks jo, I will be posting updates as I go along...much like Mel did:thumbsup2
Thanks for all the TV info guys!
But, be warned that 26" is going to be VERY hard to find. I think 30" is standard starting size...
Weird - I haven't seen anything but 26" and 32" listed. :confused3 30" would be terrific, though, so I'll keep an eye out!
We purchase all our movies in widescreen format.
This is exactly my issue - it's getting harder to find anything "Full Screen" on DVD anymore, and more and more cable programs are swtiching to widescreen.
I would measure the hole of your entertainment center and compare it to the tv's in the store.
::yes:: Exactly what I'm doing... the armoire is a keeper, so whatever I get MUST fit in there.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY T
and congrats on the cool ortho! My foot doctor likes to wear clown shoes! The day he put my foot back together he showed up in pre op in big ol Bozo shoes:lmao:
Janet - are you selling bottled water tomorrow (especially with the heat) I hear you can make a nice little profit. ( I have been lurking on the budget board to get ideas). I have been pricing and sorting stuff bit by bit and I am taking next Friday off (unless they call for rain and then I will have the sale the following week and take that Friday off.
According to Katt - I no longer celebrate b-days but anniversaries, It is my 3rd on August 15th.
Mel - that's awful about the door!
Dawn - :hug:
Ed - I have to go back and find the pics!
V - sorry I can't help ya. I am an electronics dummy, as long as I can plug it in and it works I am good to go.
You heard right...::yes::
Uh Mo... ya don't have to tell how many anniversaries either ::yes:: :rotfl:
Thanks for cane Katt...you are such a good friend:rolleyes1
------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on the fabulous idea by Mo I emailed Jim and suggested to him about selling the water at the garage sale tomorrow. Hegave that a big old thumbs up...expecially since I bought something like 8 cases over the last couple of weeks becasue Superfresh had them on sale for $2.99:woohoo: Also, he is going to stop at Acme on his way home, they have cases of Snapple on Sale at 3 for $15.00. Good deal no? ::yes::
The goal is to be up at 5:00am, set up by 6:00 - 6:30. Even though all the ads and stuff say 8:00...You always get the hard core people who are there by 7:00 - 7:30.
