OK first off where the frig is everyone? I expected pages to have gone by....yeesh.

Well.... the dr. didn't go as planned.

I'm glad she can still make it on the trip. Maybe you can get one of those kiddies leashes and attach it to the scooter for Waldo so you loose him less?!

Kat-yes please send the cupcake recipes too

Kat's Kupcakes
 • 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
 • 2 cups sugar
 • 4 eggs
 • 1 1/2 cups Self Rising Flour
 • 1 /2/ cups all purpose flour
 • 1 cup milk
 • 1 tspn vanilla

cream butter first. then alternately add dry mixture and wet mixtures into the creamed butter. Bake at 350 degrees for about 23-25 minutes per tray. Makes about 24 cupcakes.

I say kids because I am def among the older of the people who work there. lots of "kids" who still live at home or are going to school.

Kat Take care of your back and tell me about AC !:worship:

We are def on for JUly 25th, thats about all there is to say about it. LOL.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello all... who killed the tread???? Jeez.
Today we spent all day doing all the chores and cleaning and errands that haven't been done since I started working. But we got everything done including the grocery shopping for the next 2 weks and the laundry.
Whats everyone doing tomorrow???
We are going to Coney Island to see some fireworks and people watch. I will DEF be taking the camera!
Anyways I'm off to continue my re-read of Harry potter & The Half Blood Prince. I wanna read it again (for i think the 4th time) before the movie so it's fresh in my mind.
night all!
Oooh, I'm so excited - that reminds me... The kids finally agreed that Harry Potter probably won't be too scary, so I read them the first chapter of the first book last night (you must keep in mind that D read them the whole Narnia series already...)
That was great, and today Woody read the whole of chapter 2 on the way to the lake, and had me read chapters 3 & 4 on the way back. I am loving that they're so into it. :cloud9:
We won't go through them all in order back to back - I do think that 7 might be a bit young for the last few books - but I'm so glad to start them. Of course, I must also admit that we've not got to any scary bits yet, so I hope they stay into it.
Kat Thanks for the info BUT I just realisd tht is the day I have 4 staff off and HAVE to work myself so I know I can't come:sad2: I even have SWA credit !!!!:sad1::sad2:
So, Buzz & Woody took their own cameras to the fireworks, and Buzz was trying to get a good picture, and D took this:
I just think it's cool!
That picture is fantastic!! I love it.
Hi everyone, I hope you are having a great holiday. I have read all the Harry Potter books many times too. My son and I read the first book out loud to one another when it came out. I made him read a chapter aloud every day one summer before he could go out and play :thumbsup2. I don't think I will reread the Half Blood Prince before I see the movie though. I did that with the Goblet of Fire and throughout the entire movie I kept thinking "they should have added this part" over and over and it bothered my movie experience. I know they have to cut things but sometimes it seems important pieces aren't included if that makes any sense :confused3?
Bill's parents came for the day from Indiana, we had a good visit. The last 2 Christmases she has went crazy buying me scrapbooking stuff including a CriCut, well today she got to see one completed scrapbook and one that is 3/4ths of the way done. She giggled and was so happy about it. It made me feel good.
We have nothing planned for tomorrow except going out on our balcony tomorrow night to watch our towns fireworks. It seems Disney has ruined me for regular city fireworks shows, Bill and I laugh every year because it seems to take forever inbetween the fireworks, we think it is done get ready to go in and another one goes off, it is a running joke around here: "are they done yet?"
Perfectly to me. ;) I have only seen maybe half the HP movies. I adore the books. And yes, I understand that they can't have the 7 hour movies that would be required if they had everything in the last 4 books or so, but yeah...
Aw, nice. :goodvibes
And what, you're saying Carbondale doesn't match up to Disney? I'm shocked! :faint: :rotfl2:
C-U actually used to do a pretty good show, with coordinating music and the whole bit. Not Disney, but not bad for what it was. :thumbsup2 The ones we hit tonight were from a smaller, but richer town than our own (or Champaign), and they do fine for the population - and the company's good. :goodvibes The ones we'll see tomorrow night are from one of the biggest cities in NH, and yeah - they are not much better than tonight's and you'd kind of expect more. :rolleyes1
*************************************
Why on earth am I still up? Jo, it's after 6:00 a.m. You up? :upsidedow
Yea, too bad. :rolleyes1 :hug: He just rubs me the wrong way for some reason.
Really? I suppose he is a bit grumpy but he wants to win and that's good for a Brit :rotfl2:
Well Am finally home for 2 days other than timesheets on Sunday!!:cool1:
Enjoy Rosie :goodvibes
After a visit to the slowest Subway on the planet, we did get home in time to head over and meet up with our friends. The fireworks were nice - I need to steal some pictures from D's computer, and then I'll post a cool one. We got home at nearly 10:00 and we're both just tired. Our town has a pancake breakfast tomorrow morning, and since we're missing the parade and so forth to go to the b-day party, we think we might go. I have no interest. I still have to go out before the party for a present and some stuff for the "family friend" bbq after.
Sounds fun and yep just a regular Saturday here :rotfl2:
So, Buzz & Woody took their own cameras to the fireworks, and Buzz was trying to get a good picture, and D took this:
Mitch has wants to cook out before going to the race. My boyfriend seriously needs to learn to relax! Now they have decided not to go all day and just be there for the big race.
The Tour de France starts today. Go Lance! We started watching before he retired and who knew, bike racing is exciting?
Love D's photo, CE! :thumbsup2 And HP. Tracy, maybe I shouldn't have read the books before the movie either because you're right, I always want more.
Rosie, I hope you can go back to bed sometime today. :goodvibes
Morning! I'm posting from my phone, which isn't easy, so I'll keep it short. Getting my oil changed and then going grocery shopping. Exciting stuff!
Wishing you all a very happy 4th :)
For you or the kids?
For me. I have been thinking of going back to get a master's in education to teach high school math or science. I've also applied to different jobs anywhere from homeland security, law offices, and other engineering jobs. truth is I am 33 years old and still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up :laughing:
We do too and we moved two years ago :laughing:
I have a funny alarm story too :)
I am now known as the lady who burns chickens in my neighborhood.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
This is the recipe for typical English victoria sandwich (white cake) you'll need some scales though :rotfl2:
Thanks Jo!
I figure if I work them now I can have all my spending money for Disney
Sounds like a plan to me but don't overwork yourself :goodvibes
The firetrucks came to my house once, too. I answered the door, looking very confused, and they said, "Your alarm went off!" I said, "I don't have an alarm!" :rotfl:
I hope you are all having a great start to the weekend. I will not be around tomorrow, so happy 4th! Even if it's only a Saturday for our foreign friends. ;)
Wow :rotfl2: for the alarm story. You have a happy 4th too!
So, Buzz & Woody took their own cameras to the fireworks, and Buzz was trying to get a good picture, and D took this:
That literally took my breath away! What a great picture. Fireworks are so hard to capture. Did he have it on a tripod or was he holding it?
Happy 4th to you too! We have some of the HP books but never read them. In fact i haven't even seen all of the movies or even all of one movie (sorry Kat). Glad you had a good visit with your MIL.
Happy 4th to you all :grouphug:
Happy 4th to you too!
:cheer2: Happy 4th :cheer2:
You too Angela!
Wishing you all a very happy 4th :)
You too V!
Yesterday we watched a Lost marathon and finished the season 1 again including all the commentaries. I did all that in between laundry and other house work. Today I am baking cakes and we may go to my cousin's house tonight for a cookout.
Happy 4th everyone!
Jo, one of my high school friends went to England her junior year as an exchange student but she didn't take any history classes there. I always wondered what history would be like taken in a different country. So I was just wondering what the 4th meant to you? Is it the day the bad kids rebelled? :rotfl2:
I'm not as daft as you CE I was asleep :rotfl2:
Just thought I'd ask! ;) Now I'm just waking up and it 3:00 at your house, so... :rolleyes:
I'm sorry, I intended to quote everyone, but we all really overslept and need to get going to the pancake breakfast, then shower, store, Target, party, etc. D just got back in with the dog.
Debra, I was just going to say that I'm 37 and don't know what I want to be when I grow up, either. I say that all the time. ;)
Have a terrific day, everyone, and thanks for the compliments on the picture! He took the tripod, but was missing a piece, so he just held it.
OK, gotta run! :grouphug:
Gorgeous!
My firework pictures always end fuzzy. :headache:
I was just staring into space yesterday wondering what I was going to be when I grow up. I just don't know what I want to do once everyone's in school. Do I want to get a little job for spending money or get all my housework and errands run so that I can be 100% there for the kids once they are home? :confused3
Hi everyone. Off to my aunts for a BBQ with the family. Been spending lots of time with mom and dad, so that's why Ihaven't been around much. I miss you all:hug:
Happy Independence Day:goodvibes
I will be back to night to chat and quote. I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Dawn - If you don't want to work-work, how about doing some volunteer work.
And if it makes any difference..I don't wann grow up:dance3:
Hey Fockers! Just stopping in to say Happy 4th! Hope y'all have a fun day and stay safe!
I'll be heading to my aunt's house in about hour for our fun day so I gotta run and get ready. Just tried calling the kiddos but no answer on the ex's phone. Don't know what they have planned for the day but I miss the little buggers.
Have a good one, everyone!
To Jo a happy 5th a little early!!:laughing:
Honestly we don't learn anything about it, not in regular high school history anyway. We do more on Victorians, Henry 8th, suffrogettes (sp?) and the World Wars!
Just thought I'd ask! ;) Now I'm just waking up and it 3:00 at your house, so... :rolleyes:
You lazy thing you ;):rotfl2:
Hey I'm 62 and still don't know what I wanna be when and IF I grow up!!:rotfl2:
It must be hard :hug: BTW love the new siggie :thumbsup2
Well I have no hair left, I pulled it all out on the golf course playing with Jess :rotfl2: We completed her first card so that's good but she had 2 12's an 11 and 2 10's. Several of them were because she was stubborn and wouldn't listen :sad2: don't know where she gets that from :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:
Happy 4th!
CE – Funny alarm story. “It's trash day." That is frickin’ hilarious!!! Stepdad was just trying to be practical!!! I love that picture of Buzz!
DEB – Your house plans sound wonderful.
KAT - I’m so glad you are doing OK at WoD. Dang wardrobe malfunctions! I bet the pants we wear at my job are similar. I wish they’d let us big people wear ‘stretchy’ stuff. Sweats would be great!!! I hope you had fun at Coney Island!
ROSIE – Great alarm stories from you too!
T – I’m sorry that TE has to have surgery. However, I’m glad she can go to WDW!!!
MIZ D – Miss you too. I hope you had fun at the lodge!
ANGELA – I’m glad you don’t have to suffer through a race. You’re right about Water World – STINKER!
KICKAPOO – Who knew burning a chicken would get so much attention. How frustrating and embarrassing for you.
JO – It sounds like you may have a female Tiger W. on your hands, maybe.
MrsKS – I’m so happy the MIL likes your scrapping!
Hi Lori, Dawn, Lessa, Slate, Sharky, TE, Mo, V, Mel, JV, Hedy, Janet and everybody we have been missing like the boys and G-Luv.
Hey I’m 43 and I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up – Gorgeous and filthy rich. Neither one worked out.
We had several 'false' alarms with our ADT system. Most of them were from the pole barn.(Birds and wind) We were usually home when they happened so no police or fire rescue ever showed up. However, I decided to have the service terminated do to all the problems. Bottom line - I live in the boonies, ADT waits 30 seconds before they call for verification, then after they let the phone ring for a few times they call the authorities. Even I could get in and out of my house with money and jewelry in 2 minutes. The authorities wouln't even come close to getting there before they were gone. The alarm will still sound if someone breaks in, it is just not connected to the ADT boards any more.
Honestly, the most important items to me are the ring on my left hand and some of the furniture my grandfather made for me. Don't get me wrong, I'd be upset if someone broke in, it's just I don't have anything that is irreplaceable with the exception of what I mentioned.
Now if I lived in town and had children, big difference!!! It was only $35 a month for the system we had. It would be worth it for the peace of mind.
Well a lot of 4th celebrations are getting wet around here. It's been raining all day. I saw lots of people huddled in garages trying to keep the party going.
I am at work. If it stops raining, I will go up on the roof of our building around 9:30 PM to see some fireworks.
I hope all my American Focker Friends had a wonderful holiday! Jo and Lessa, you just have a wonderful evening period!
Happy 4th, all! We did some shopping at Target and Christmas tree Shop today. I took the boys to see a Cirque show yesterday-it was great. Mordie (13) is going to be staying with us this week, as our local pro soccer team is running a camp in our town. What is our big teen looking forward to-meeting some pro soccer players, perhaps? No, he wants to make cookies with Auntie Heather. :love::love::cutie::laughing:
Happy 4th Everyone!
We didn't end up going to Coney island. It was a very long week for us both so we didn't really want to do much. We heated up some leftovers and watched the first Harry Potter movie. The fireworks on the NY Harbor are starting soon and we can see some of them from my building so we will probably just watch a bit and then chill out. Not so exciting.
I'm just happy to have a day of resting.
So you all need to check out the latest update to my TR....things have changed quite a bit and now I need help!
Hope you all had a great 4th!
I'm confused? So everyone is going to school next year? I thought you were still homeschooling one?
If we could afford it then I would stay home. :hug:
Hey Fockers! Just stopping in to say Happy 4th! Hope y'all have a fun day and stay safe!
Have a good one, everyone!
I know that feeling :hug: I'm missing our kids now too.
I had the hardest time with these cakes. First of all I thought my flour was too old to use. I haven't baked anything from scratch in a really really long time. After I remembered that I moved that container of flour when we bought our house two years ago I decided to throw it out. Instead of going back to the store for flour I decided to look for a simpler recipe. I found one using cake mix, butter, sour cream, pudding, and eggs.
I decided to use my star-shaped cake pan for both cakes meaning I had to bake them one at a time. I baked the yellow cake first no problems, then when I took the chocolate cake out of the oven it fell.
Sigh.
I decided to use it anyways. I wanted two star shaped cakes (one chocolate, one yellow) with white icing, red and blue letters. Well guess what. I was out of clear vanilla extract. I always vote for taste over looks so I used my brown vanilla making off white icing. Mixed the icing and spread my crumb layer. I don't always do this but am glad I did today. The chocolate cake was just crumbling everytime I touched it with the knife.
then I realized I didn't have any pastry bags. Did I mention it has been a while since I baked anything? DH volunteered to run to walmart (again) to get pastry bags.
Finally I finished the white layer and when I went to write "Happy birthday Tau" and "Happy Birthday Omicron" I realized the star was much too small. So I just wrote their names on the cakes. Also I mixed the colored icing waaay too thick and it was almost impossible to write anything with it.
I had to dump the colored icing out into the bowl to thin it out some with milk and tried again.
Finally finished. and now I am resting. I have so much still to clean before tomorrow but I don't think I have procrastinated enough.
Oh and my MIL is giving us her pool table. :goodvibes So it has been a good 4th for us!
