Hello Fockers!
The reception story:
We didn't want to do the whole big wedding thing back in Boston (and let the mothers plan it, OMG) so we did the JOP thing in Peoria. We had with us: Bob's Bro, his wife Jen, my mom & dad, my gramma & grampa and my Bff, Jen. We had lots of friends in our condo complex so as a surprise they decorated the pool area (it was June in Peoria, and HOT) with balloons and streamers and stuff and got us a cake and champagne.
BACK STORY INTERJECTION:
Sadly, as is the case with regulatory boards staffed by members of your "peers", the small group of condo residents who made up the board of the association were mad with their newly found powers! They made enemies of us almost immediately because we refused to close our balcony door. Yes, you heard me. We wouldn't close our door. It was the only way to get a breath of air, and it was HOT! They constantly harrassed us and were just unbelievable. They (a group of 6 of our IMMEDIATE neighbors) did everything they could to get us evicted. Over our open door.
OK BACK TO THE RECEPTION:
So, we got to the pool area and they yelled surprise (our friends, not the enemies of course) and we had cake and champagne. I was 20 yrs old. Not legal, though I would've been in 5 months. The police came to the pool area. They said the association called them to report an underage drinking party. I was the ONLY one underage. And the BRIDE!!!
I didn't have a glass in my hand though so they congratulated us and left. But first they told us that the association wanted us off the pool property. So we grabbed everything and went to our condo. I cried all day.
The next day (while we were in St. Louis at Six Flags for our "small" honeymoon-we went to Disney later in the year) while NotBob's bro and wife were at the pool they called the cops again and tried to have them arrested for trespassing.
I try to not think about those things. My wedding was beautiful as far as I'm concerned and the reception was done out of such love for us. Those people will surely face their own punishment now OR later.....
Ok. So, that's the story.

Wow, I'm blown away by other people's ugliness, sometimes! I wonder how many of those people are still stuck at that condo, being awful to others. Nice life... However it sounds like your friends were wonderful to you!
We had a GREAT dinner! I had Ratatouille on a crepe with goat cheese. OMG was it good. KC had duck with a berry sauce that was amazing and Pants had a steak so tender it fell apart in your mouth. A great meal!!!
I did get to Target today too, with Pants. Friggin' $80 later we got out of there. Mostly snacks bought, and one book, and some tuperware and random house carp.

That sounds so good! I've wanted to make Ratatouille since the movie. Which, unlike Up!, I totally adore and I even went out and bought it.
Hey, anytime you can ecape from Tarzhay under $100 I call it a successful shopping event

What is everyone planning for Father's Day? We got cards, are taking NotBob out for breakfast and then he had requested some stuff at the nursery for his garden so we'll go get that.
Oh, and I plan on making a nice roasted chicken dinner that night too.
Well, everyone is sleeping still.Guess I'll go watch the news.

I've been up since 6:30, DH since probably 5:30. We are freaky early risers.
DH and older DD are watching Jurassic park and eating breakfast, I'm trying to figure out the closest place where I can pick up a Carvel Fudgie the Whale for celebrating FD today.
We're celebrating FD today since FIL and MIL are going to see a Broadway show tomorrow downtown (can't remember which one it is). We're picking up a carvel cake (see above), Williams Bros Barbecue (I'll call and order takeout on the way up), and driving to the IL's lakehouse which is about an hour north of here. I picked up BIL's gifts from his house yesterday since he can't ride his motorcycle with a Tassimo coffeemaker strapped to the back of it.
I still have to wrap all the FD gifts for my DH and FIL,

I'm a little nervous about my replacement at work, she likes to work in a very linear fashion-finish one task, start another. I'm much more of a throw five balls in the air and juggle them until they're all done, but I think there is more than one way of doing a job well so I'm being very careful to be supportive of how she wants to approach the job. I can't get her to keep her cellphone on the desk, though.

I worked 5+ hours every day, plus an hour each way in the car. The girls were in dance camp this week so I could work so many hours. I put 400 miles on my minivan in one week and spent 80 in gas (the minivan gets 30 mpg on the highway so sheesh about the gas!). The house is a total mess because by the time I get home I just want to lie down and not move for a while. Plus I've had my period all week which gives me headaches so I am SO ready for a week of sitting at the pool with the kids next week and being a total slug!

Have a good weekend everybody!
