That's the thing Mel, we're so sensible with our money, David works hard and I don't like spending it, well except for WDW holidays :rotfl: My parents, especially my Dad is a really hard worker and well David's parents especially FIL is not. Luckily David said that our money is for OUR family meaning the girls, in a few years we're going to need loads of money to send them to University and then with the price of houses probably need to help them. Also in all of David's life his parents have never helped him financially, even for our wedding they gave us $200 as our present, $140 of that paid for the hire of FIL's suit, so their present to us was $60 and their whole contribution to our wedding was $120 which he wore :rotfl:

Off to bed, nightie night :wave2:

OMG Jo I don't blame you one bit for being upset. I would do my best to help my parents if they asked... but for them to expect you all to pay of their house and give them 80k above that is rediculous.... especially when all 4 kids have other things going on in their lives... and your kids shouldn't have to suffer....I don't see my parents asking something like that myself... but one never knows what the future holds... I know my IL's would never ask that of us

just my opinion... take it as you may...

Jo, I can't really add anything, but I do think it's a bad idea to give them the money. I have friends that did this and of course the money was not paid back, now they fight constantly over it. Not a good situation.

You guys are killing me with these Disney store finds, MUST NOT GO, luckily there aren't any convienently located and since I didn't bother to shower today....

Speaking of showering has anyone seen CE!!!!!

Jo, I had all these quotes but I think it is just easoer to say DON'T DO IT!!!!

Mo - HAven't seen CE in a while. Hope all is okay

Thanks for checking in on me! I've just been super busy, and D has been home all week, too, so no time to sit for hours and catch up. I hadn't logged on because I knew I'd mess up my "unreads" but I don't want anyone to worry about me. :goodvibes

D flies tomorrow, so I should get some "sit" time to do some catching up.

I haven't read anything at all, so I hope Dawn's doing well. We're off to see Wall-E right now, so I'll "see" you tomorrow! :grouphug:

Jo- I forgot to tell you thank you for the card. :goodvibes Kirt's been so impressed with you all and your kind words.

I agree with what everyone said. There's no way I could put my family's finances in peril to pay for someone else's mistakes. That's so crazy that they even asked. I would be too embarassed to ever ask for help from anyone.

I showered today, CE! Are you proud of me? :laughing: I'm tired of laying proped up in the bed. My sheets are so soft that I tend to slide down and then I'm all out of whack. :sad2:

I'm going to sit in a chair next to the bed for a nice change... :rotfl:

Jo don't do it!! My parents never had much but they were hard working and never asked for any help. It amazed me when Dad died he actually had a little in the bank and then the house they owned with no mortgage happened to be in a very desirable part of town and sole for a very nice amount.I work the 2 jobe to help out DD and the kids . She is constantly telling me to slow down but I have selective hearing !!:rotfl2:

Hi all. I did what I swore I wasn't going to do. I went shopping. I needed new sneakers for the trip and that is all I was going to get. Well, Kohl's was having a GREAT sale...$238 later my Nikes are now the most expensive pair of sneakers in history:rotfl2: I got a new top for WDW, I got 2 new outfits for work (skirts/tops), a pair of pants for work, 3 tanks for Jimmy and 3 new bras which were 50% off...but still too darn expensive :sad2:
ACK!!! Another one!! LALALALALALALA!!! MUST NOT GO TO KOHL'S!!!
When we were firsst married I set some Baked Macroni and cheese down in front of him and sat down to eat... He looked at me and said.. "Where is the rest of the Meal" ? Never had he just had Mac and Cheese it was a "Side dish" .:sad2:
I've never had mac n cheese as a meal either, Katt. :confused3
Anyway.. as I digress... Scott LOST 80 pounds in about 8 months. :mad: And yet I am still married to him :mad: He still does the "Lower carb life" but just not as strict. I lost maybe 10 pounds. I am a Carb Person.
Me, too! I'm a total carb person ... and with these stinking braces, chewing on meat is just not possible. :sad2:
However.. I am proud to say this morning... that I have lost some weight. 18 pounds to be exact. :yay:
Whoo Hoo!! you go girl! :thumbsup2

OK vent over, please tell me your opinions whatever they are!
I have to agree with everyone, Jo! Don't do it! :sad2:

They sound like Andy's parents/family. Before Andy's mother passed, she received a large sum of money from SSI, she bought Andy's sister a used car and gave some money to Andy's brother and they also signed the house over to Andy's brother and his wife. When the mother passed, the father decided to sell the house and the brother and his wife split the proceeds with the father and Andy nor his sister got any kind of inheritance (although his sister did get a car out of his mother). It was fine with us. We both worked and made good money, so everything was fine. Well, the brother squandered all his money and was actually homeless - living in his car with his wife after he pissed off his wifes family and they kicked them out. Long story.... anyway, Andy has never asked his family for squat - his parent stiffed my parents when it came time to pay our wedding bill... again long story. So a few weeks ago, I was going to pay off our WDW trip with money I've been socking away. Andy calls me to say his brother needs $1000 asap. Realistically it's ANdy's money. I didn't work, so I told him it was his decision. The brother said he'd pay him back the following week. Well, the following week came and brother only paid part of it back, with a promise to pay the rest in a few days. Yeah, it's been a week and we haven't heard from him. :sad2: I put my foot down and told Andy we are not a bank, we are not lending him money anymore. Perhaps if he put the hemp pipe down, he could get a decent job and support his wife properly. :mad:

Money and family just don't mix. :headache:

Hi ladies I am back. It was a long and for the most part fun weekend. My cousin whom I do love a lot some times gets to me. He likes the world to think he has a perfect family:snooty: and has the kids so intimidated that the daughter does or says anything to stay out of trouble. This always leaves it looking like my dd is the one at fault for anything:mad: .

I need to unpack and clean the kitty litter I just wanted to say hi and see if someone can give me a run down on what I missed.

How is Dawn?

How is Dawn?

Sounds like fun.

Hi everyone!:goodvibes Back from the beach and I have only read this page.

Jo,:hug: I really don't know what to say.I would like to say money and family doesn't mix but my DH has a different philosophy.He would not only give money to his family but never expext them to pay it back.But he also would never put his family's financial security in jeopardy.It doesn't sound like your inlaws have done much to help themselves and that it could definitely hurt your family to give it to them.It sounds like David is right-ya'll and the girls need that money.:goodvibes hope some of that ramble made sense.:rolleyes1

Dawn,hope you are feeling better.I know that showere had to feel good.

Janet,sounds like a successful shopping trip.:thumbsup2

Our trip to the beach was great.The kids had a blast,they all had friends/family to play with but also made more friends on the beach.Rachel was terrified of the pool at the beginning of the summer and would only get in with arm floats and another float around her waist.By the end of the week at the beach she was swimming like a fish.:woohoo: Of course I have already paid for swimming lessons that start in the morning.:scared: Once I get the pictures uploaded I will share a few.

I AM proud of you! Plus it must mean you are feeling sort of OK! :goodvibes

Now D's trip for tomorrow was canceled. I have the twin playgroup at my house Tuesday. Maybe I can catch up later in the week. :headache: Miss you all!

CE: We miss you too! Don't worry, Janet and Katt and I will keep up the chit chat so no one gets bored while you're away!

Today was DH's last day of vacation. Bummer! He decided to take ds15 out driving today. He got his learners permit a few weeks ago. So, I decided that ds10 and I would go for a walk downtown, window shop and get a soda/cookie at the cafe and sit on the park bench to relax. As I reached the last light to turn onto Main St., I noticed that the truck felt a bit weird. Steering felt heavy. :confused3 So, as the light turned green and I turned left onto Main I heard this weird noise. Whappita, Whappita, Whappita. So, I pulled into the first lot on Main St. Town cops pulled in behind me. Just as I jumped out, he jumped out and said, "You've got a bad flat." GREAT! :sad2: Called DH and let him know to come fix it at the lot. Then N and I went for our walk, window shopped and got our snacks. Dh came by about an hour later and put the spare on. Poor DH. Not a great way to spend your last day of vacay!!!

Worse still, the tire is slashed down the sidewall. Not repairable. And they are $180 a piece.

Ouch. :guilty:

MEL:banana:

HSM--> so glad you are home! Speedy recvoery!

LL--> Holy shopping Batman! I did a bit of damage myself today, gotta love how a trip justifies 3 new pairs of shorts and 2 shirts right?! ;)

Whats The Kingdom Keepers? SOunds up my alley...tell me more!

Katt--> Good for you on the weight loss! We are still doing our eating healthy (ish) thing which is still a lot better than before Neither of us have lost weight but we haven't gained either, which is better than nuttin right? I too need my carbs!

Jo--> WOW. Thats just crazy of them to ask you all to pay for their loan! Personally I wouldn't do it at all, you have enough things to worry about having a family of your own. wow.

T--> Money and friendship don't mix either! We have yet to hear back from the tax guy/friend who borrowed the $50 from us last week. I hate owing money to anyone and having to collect it is even worse! I hope you get it back fast.

CE--> HI! Good luck catching up in a few days.

It was Focker shopping day today! KC broke the pc (again, sigh) and was fixing it with a look on his face so I ran out to escape and went shopping. I got some good stuff for the trip (or so I tell myself) and I went to Lane Bryant. They talked me into trying for the credit card and guess what? I was approved? Just what I need! But it got me 15% off the already 40% and 50% off bottoms I bought!

I brought KC home some cake and sweet tea from Mcd's (that stuff is crack!) so he is feeling a bit better. The pc mostly works, after about 5 hours of work. This lap top is killing me tho...sllllloooooowwwww.

Last night was our friend Ricky's going away. It was a ton of fun, old friends everywhere and it was a tearful goodbye. We will see him soon but he was very emotional. We got home at like 3am. It was nutso.

Anwyays hope anyone I missed hada great weekend!

Wow, reading just some quotes sounds like folks are doing good shopping. Woohoo!

Mel, sorry about the flat. What a pain. :(

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I loved Wall-E. So cute. :lovestruc
But again we've gone 3 or 4 nights in a row staying up WAY too late for the kids, no routine, so hard times. :headache: And no DISing time... :confused:
Thursday we had hoped to see fireworks in a neighboring town (they always do the 3rd) but it thunderstormed, so we went looking at grills instead. Our grill innards had rusted out in the late fall, D waited until last week to see about getting the parts to repair it - of course they were about half the price of a new grill...
But, we didn't buy anything Thursday.
Friday was the 4th of course - out late. We got up and went to the town pancake breakfast, then home, then back for the parade and midway, then home, then back for the fireworks.
Yesterday we hung around in the morning, but then went out grill shopping again. Finally picked one at Sears at 4:00, stopped by Trader Joe's for grillin' food, then came home. And found that the "you'll only have to built the cart" grill was in a lot more pieces than that. So I made the boys mac & cheese (I eat it as a meal all the time, btw - saw that come up before... ;) but my mom wouldn't have served it - it's more of an I'm by myself kind of thing. Though I can get a kicker version at my favorite local restaurant as an entree... I digress.)
Anyway, D & I grilled some excellent burgers at 10:00. :lmao:
Today I realized I'm hosting that playgroup on Tuesday, so I started doing some decluttering and vacuuming. The boys played with the neighbors all day, here, there, outside... We grilled salmon (YUMMM) kind of early for dinner, then hit Wall-E.
At any rate, I hate to sit around on the computer during the day when D's home - he gives me the stink eye, and always wants to be "doing something" and then we've been out at night, then watching DVDs and stuff.
I thought for a bit he'd be gone M-Th, and I was excited :rotfl: but now even the one dayer for tomorrow has been scrapped. TOO MUCH TOGETHERNESS!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:
Can someone recap for me? :flower3:
