I'll try and read some posts tomorrow when I feel more like doing this... Okay, I think that's a few days off still! ;)
Miss you guys! :goodvibes

Take it easy Dawn !! Glad your home!!

:yay: :yay: You're Home....

Well, I'm back from the mall. Ca-ching...

Bath & Body Works was having a huge sale so I left there with a huge shopping bag of stuff, then bought some salt scrub stuff from a company called Seacret that Tony buys me hand/nail stuff at. THEN...I attacked JC Penney...GULP. The BIG bag is still hidden in the back of the Mazda...even after I saved $299, the bill still came out to $317!:scared1: I got a couple of Polo shirts for Michael for school but they were all out of pants and shorts his size so I need to keep an eye out for those. And I got myself some bermudas, capris, a bunch of tops, a couple of bras, a new hat for the beach/pool...

Woo Hoo on spending some cash onyourself. We went to the mall too. Only went to Kitchen Kapers and bought some skewers for the kids to roast marshmallows with and then went to the Disney Store. Believe it or not, other than money that I had saved to add to our gift card I only spent $10.97. I got Jim a Grumy T-Shirt for $2.99 and Jimmy two tanks for $3.99 each.

Hmmmm...wonder what V's doing right now....

:confused3 I thought she was coming home today/night. I'm dying to hear what she has to say about my mother...I know what my mother said about her:rolleyes1 :goodvibes

Dawn's home! Yay! We missed and worried about you, Hon! Talk to you soon, I hope!

MEL:banana:

Michael will be 7 in September.

If I let him live that long...:headache: OMG, don't even get me started on the cleaning issue. We have to threaten him by bringing a garbage bag in and putting one of his toys in to get him to realize that we're serious.:sad2:

Hey LL! I've got a DD7 and I know we've pulled out the trash bag many times. I threaten that we're going to give the toys away to kids who will actually appreciate them. We've never had to follow through, but I would. I have, however, put the toys in time out for a few days if the girls don't clean up when we ask them to. They tend to do it pretty well now. :rotfl2:

Welcome home, Dawn! I'm glad to read that you're doing pretty well. We're still praying for a speedy recovery! Are the kids home now too, or did you leave them at grandma's for a few more days?;)

OMG - you can't leave us hanging!! She LOVED her, didn't she? Tell me...PM me...anything! :confused3

Thanks - nice to know I'm not alone!

Oooh...Tony & I went to see Hancock tonight. I liked it...and Janet, was it you who recommended not taking the kids due to language?:confused3 Well, we didn't, but man oh man...there were an awful lot of kids there:sad2: from like the ages of 3 and up...Strange. Definitely not a movie I want Michael to watch. But I liked it and we'll be buying it when it comes out on DVD for sure:thumbsup2

Ah now Fockers...here's a question for the panel...A "What Would You Do" question if you will...

Take a look at this...

slide.jpg

This baby is The Plunge, by Banzai. It's been sitting in a box in the garage for 2 days. Tony, in his infinite wisdom, told me (whilst discussing Michael's behavior lately), that the first thing I need to do is stop spoiling him.

I'll admit it...I spoil him rotten. Totally my fault. I admit it. I also enjoy it.

So, in readily admitting that I do spoil him, and that Tony's right...what do I do about the slide?:confused3 Should I return it?

Michael's been pretty good all day today. Did he learn a lesson? Maybe.

Maybe not.

We decided against getting another pool this year - insurance liability and what-not, so this pool is basically the best of both worlds...it doesn't require the maintenance a pool does, yada yada yada...

It's fun, and - might I say, more importantly, there's a 12-foot round pool at the bottom of the slide that appears sufficiently deep enough for me to sit and enjoy a beverage in.

See? Everybody wins.

Or do they?

My guess is at almost 7, Michael's got just a tad more sensibility than the dog we had. You can't punish him 12 hours later for a puddle of pee you just discovered - he won't remember, or realize, what he did wrong. Am I right?

And hey - honestly, with ADHD - the kids don't realize they're in trouble - and it's not their fault they can't control themselves.

And so, my fellow Fockers, I look to you...

What would you do about the slide?

Return it?

OR....start using it tomorrow...:confused3

AND - last but not least - Dawn, welcome back & best wishes for a speedy recovery!:thumbsup2

LauraLee, have you tried sticker charts for your little one? My kids love them. When we need them to do something on a regular basis (like clean a room, get through a shopping without whining, etc.) We set the charts up. They don't have to be fancy. The reward could be picking a family outing or a trip to the local park. I would bust open the slide, I have no patience :)

Thanks to the fockers I started reading the twilight series! Two books in 16 hours :rotfl: Can someone drop by and do my laundry? I promised myself that I can't read eclipse until I have hand painted the kid's outfits for our Disney Trip and made my Grandfathers memory book for his 90th B day party. I am having trouble with that promise, I want to read it NOW!

Dude!! Set that bad-boy up and get sliding!! But seriously, I hear ya. It's hard not to spoil these kids. I'm not the best person to answer this, 'cause I always give in to my kids. :confused3

Wow, Rachel... you've got the FUZZY math down! V will be so proud! :rotfl:

:lmao: yup, pretty good, huh!! i've had that way of thinking for the past 10 yrs. it's how i convince my husband that my idea was really his idea!! it's much easier than trying to talk him into something.

how bout this one? dh: if i get a good job , we probably should stay here and not move to florida
me: true, but florida is our dream
dh; well, we could take 2 trips a year
me: that would get expensive, what about a timeshare or something
dh; don't they have a disney club or something like that
me: oh yeah, they have dvc, if we stay in ohio, we could just sign up for dvc
dh; yeah we could do that!
me: great idea honey!!
:lmao: :lmao: he's so clueless!!!

Ok---since no one stuck up for me! No....I do not eat my goats.........in fact, since I started raising goats, I can't even eat lamb from Food City!
whew, i was a little worried. glad to hear you luv your goats too much to eat them!!!

That is sooo cute! It does crack me up when people wonder how other countries celebrate things like the 4th of July.:rotfl:

hi parla!!
I told them that it was Mommy's turn to watch tennis on the new HD TV. Considering their response, you can pass that "meanest mommy in the world" sign right over here!
yup, i get that with the computer. okay mom's time on the computer. ..... buuuuuuuuuuuuutttttttt, moooooooooommmmmmm. hate the whine. hate the whine!!!

Good morning everyone! Sorry no multi-quotes right now but just wanted to stop in and say hi! I'm getting the kids ready and we are going to see Wall-E. After seeing the reviews on here it looks like it'll be a cute movie. And besides the kids have been dying to see it since it came out.
hi lori!
Just a quick drive by. I'm on the slow lap top and need to get ready to go out tonight.
Have a great rest of the weekend everyone.
hi kat!! cooking anything good?
HOW in the world do you do it with 3 kids Rachel? OMG...Bless your little heart...I'd be insane.:scared:

well, i'm kinda in that grey area between sanity and insanity. however, sometimes that can be a really fun place to be!!!:rotfl2:

I'll admit it...I spoil him rotten. Totally my fault. I admit it. I also enjoy it.
okay , i say hope he's good tomorrow, then sit down and say, since you were so well behaved today, we are going to put up this awesome pool and slide. (where mommy will sit at the bottom and watch you while sippin on a cold one)!!!:goodvibes :rotfl2:

I think it was Mel. It is a movie we want to see, but we will wait until it is pay per view or Jimmy is at a sleepover. :thumbsup2

I'll admit it...I spoil him rotten. Totally my fault. I admit it. I also enjoy it.

Me too...drives Jm crazy :sad2:

My opinion is to hold off for at least today to see how his behavior is. If he is cooperative, etc...then set it up tomorrow.

Is he in camp or anything like that for the summer? Maybe try to get home before he does tomorrow to have it set up for when he gets home>:confused3

I need to work on this for Jim. Maybe after a couple of more things are paid off I can talk him into it. Although I am getting may dining room, living room, and hallway done this year so I guess I really can't complain.

========================================================

Good Morning all. We were going to go to the zoo today, but Jimmy's behavior last night going to bed was :scared1: so we are not going now. I am annoyed because I just wanted to do something out of the house. Don't want to be stuck in on my last day off. If the rains hold off we may go to the Taste of Philadelphioa Festival later, but I don't know if I feel like dealing with those kinds of crowds today.

Chat with you all later!

Mornin'! Had a good puppy nite--only up once at 3 and DH got up with him at 7! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
He's playing with Max now---the kitty smacked him and he ran over and hid underneath Max! :lmao:

LL----I would probably see how today went and say "we MAY set it up this afternoon--we'll have to see how your behavior is"...............I tend to take away privileges more..........no cell/laptop/outings with friends, but that doesn't always guarantee good behavior either.

Any other discipline ideas are welcome!

Where's Jo?

Cell phone away from a teenager could be the end of the world:eek:

Where's Jo?

Her inlaws

So your cat it a bully:confused3 ;)
Yep! She maintains a perimeter around her that the pup cannot cross...........but his little brain forgets that and he jumps in to play!

Cell phone away from a teenager could be the end of the world:eek:
Yes, she acts like the world is ending.....one time, she actually picked up the home phone......eyed it strangely (due to its unfamiliar nature as she won't answer it).....and decided it wasn't worth it! :lmao:

Her inlaws
Ah! When is she back??

So no zoo??? We're going over to my moms this evening--supposed to have a hayride but it's been really rainy.

Oh---got home from inlaws last nite and baby goats were out of the fence.........had to put them up last nite as electric fence is not working.

Morning gals. I'm up but I was updating the TR.

It's another gorgeous day here. Strange for MI.... :confused3

I think I will try to find some curtains for my room today. Tried Target, Linen's and Things and Meijer yesterday. No dice. I may have to make them to get what I want. Dh finished painting our room. It's really nice. But, now my spread and curtains REALLY don't match!

My IL's will be calling soon. They call every Sunday. It's sort of annoying, but oh well. They love their son. :lovestruc

Yesterday's points were REALLY good. So, now I don't feel so bad about Friday!

LL: I would definitely NOT set up the pool. I know I'm the dissenting opinion but what you described to us is really bad behavior. I'm sort of a B***H though, so maybe you don't want to use my opinion....
I would say, we have that great new pool in the garage. When we can count on your being good for more than one day, we'll set it up. For now, I say DON'T argue with him. I tell my kids (if they try to push the envelope) "I do NOT argue with children."
It works. I saw my neighbor do it with her kids YEARS ago. And they just walked away. No more arguing. I said, "Does that really work???" She said, "Yes." So now I do it. It does work.

Again, I'm sort of a Mean Momma. You might prefer a gentler approach. Either way, you gotta hit where it hurts. TE is right. Cell phone, laptop, playdates, friends, whatever. It's the only power we have!!!

MEL:banana:

Good morning Fockers ! I'm off today and supposedly off call! Well 2 am call #1 the firealarm went off ( its been doing it for weeks) "silince the thing I say and I go back to bed !! Next frantic call I had a no call no show ! So I've been ob
n the phone since !! Lovely DAY OFF!!

Not sure. Tonight? THe girls have school tomorrow?

So no zoo???

Nope and he hasn't even brought it up. I guess he realizes that he was NOT good last night.

Morning gals. I'm up but I was updating the TR.

I read it!:thumbsup2

It's another gorgeous day here. Strange for MI.... :confused3

It's dreary and dark here. It looks like it should be 7:30pm! :sad2:

:wave2: Hi Rosie!

Good morning ladies! :grouphug: Am I the only one who woke up this morning feeling like I wasted a nice long weekend doing nothing?:confused3 Hmmm...well, we all just woke up about a half hour ago so I feel like I slept my Sunday away. I'm going to go clean the kitchen and then head outside to do some weeding in my mulch beds:headache: . Ick...I hate that.

LauraLee, have you tried sticker charts for your little one? My kids love them. When we need them to do something on a regular basis (like clean a room, get through a shopping without whining, etc.) We set the charts up. They don't have to be fancy. The reward could be picking a family outing or a trip to the local park. I would bust open the slide, I have no patience

We tried stickers a while back...didn't work. He decided that "I don't like stickers anyway" so that didn't last...I thought about opening the slide yesterday afternoon, and didn't do it...

And honestly, as cool as it is, it cost me $375:scared1: . Yes, it came out of vacation money...so if I return it...well, that's all the more money I have to give to the Mouse.

But it looks like a lot of fun...I'm so on the fence about it...

Thanks to the fockers I started reading the twilight series! Two books in 16 hours Can someone drop by and do my laundry? I promised myself that I can't read eclipse until I have hand painted the kid's outfits for our Disney Trip and made my Grandfathers memory book for his 90th B day party. I am having trouble with that promise, I want to read it NOW!

I haven't read these yet and everyone is raving about them. I don't even know who the author is!?! WOW - 2 books in 16 hours?? I'm still trying to get through my latest James Patterson (7th Heaven)...I keep it in my beach chair and try and read it in bits and pieces but I pulled it out yesterday and put it in the car. Michael has swimming class for the next 2 weeks and parents aren't allowed in the pool area, so I thought I'd just crank the AC in the car and try and catch up on some reading...

Anyone heard an update on the Kingdom Keepers sequel? I heard it was coming out this summer, but haven't seen anything yet. I know, I know, some people think it's a kids book. Or a teenager's book, but I loved the first one and the guy writes so descriptively you can see yourself in WDW while reading...:cloud9:

Ack!!! I'm covering my eyes! I'm covering my eyes!! LALALALALALALALA!!! I don't NEED anything!! LALALALALALALA!!

I tried saying the same thing, but the sale prices were AWESOME!! Just about everything was nearly 50% off, AND you got another 15% off if you put it on your JCP card...I couldn't NOT afford to buy the stuff...look at the amount of money I saved!! You gotta spend it to save it!!

Ok, that is SOOOO not cool, Janet! Spill, sister!

I'm so tempted to call V...I guess I can wait...:rolleyes1 Of course, Janet you COULD give us your mother's side and we can get V's version when she does her TR...

Actually, I seriously DID almost call her yesterday about my slide issue...so V...I know you're out there somewhere...

Oh Princess Vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv.....Come out to playyyyyyyyyyyyyy...

Dude!! Set that bad-boy up and get sliding!! But seriously, I hear ya. It's hard not to spoil these kids. I'm not the best person to answer this, 'cause I always give in to my kids.

I knew I could count on you - the devil on my shoulder...

Yeah, I was a big help, wasn't I? Where's V when we need her?

That's all I'm sayin'...

I gotta be honest too, TE...I was wondering the same thing about you and eating your goats. And nobody said you WEREN'T eating them...:scared: Phew...

well, i'm kinda in that grey area between sanity and insanity. however, sometimes that can be a really fun place to be!!!

I hear ya Rachel. I like the old saying, "I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy it!"

okay , i say hope he's good tomorrow, then sit down and say, since you were so well behaved today, we are going to put up this awesome pool and slide. (where mommy will sit at the bottom and watch you while sippin on a cold one)!!!:goodvibes :rotfl2:

Hopefully he'll be good today...I may have to hang it over his head for the week though, with swim lessons, etc...it makes for a tight amount of "free time" during the week....

DOn't want to spoil V's TR;)

Yeah, yeah...blah blah blah...:rolleyes1 Ok, but after we hear V's side...we want Mom's side...

I think it was Mel. It is a movie we want to see, but we will wait until it is pay per view or Jimmy is at a sleepover.

Oh yeah, you're right. I think it was Mel (sorry Mel)...Good movie though...definitely go see it.:thumbsup2

Nope, I'll wait for Vpopcorn::

Ok, ok...sheesh....

Note to self, Janet DOES NOT cave to peer pressure...find another weapon...pirate:

Good Morning all. We were going to go to the zoo today, but Jimmy's behavior last night going to bed was :scared1: so we are not going now.

AH HA!! So it's NOT just happening at my house! I'd be mad too...I love the Philly zoo...

Or at least I used to...15 years ago...

Thanks TE...and Thank You everyone for your help! I knew I could count on you all to give me some guidance!!:thumbsup2

Oh---got home from inlaws last nite and baby goats were out of the fence.........had to put them up last nite as electric fence is not working.

Are you still chasing the goats around in sandals TE? Or you have you gotten more farm-specific wrangling footwear?;)

Yesterday's points were REALLY good. So, now I don't feel so bad about Friday!

Way to go Mel!!

LL: I would definitely NOT set up the pool. I know I'm the dissenting opinion but what you described to us is really bad behavior. I'm sort of a B***H though, so maybe you don't want to use my opinion....
