TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Happy Afternoon Donalds! Since I have been a slacker and have not read all the posts over the weekend I am just going to start reading and get back to posting a bit later :thumbsup2

I discovered ENERGY on Saturday.....in the form of a Zip Fizz! My trainer suggested it to me. Zip Fizz is a powder that you mix with water (comes in a tube so it's portable). Flavors are orange, pink lemonade, and grape. The water turns a bit fizzy and it tastes pretty good! It has extra vitamin B12 which is supposed to help you with energy? I bought an entire box at Costco and love it!

I'm gearing up for a Scrapbooking Saturday this weekend so I better get my pictures organized! I'm working on my early Disney visits (1978, 1980, etc). I must remember healthy snacks to bring since all I am doing is sitting on my butt for 12 hours :scared1:

Happy Tuesday to all!

Quotd—Tues 22nd:
What vitamins/supplements if any do you take daily or at least once a week?

I am taking a few things: Multivitamin for the Heart, D, calcium, magnesium, and fish oil. I'm still toying with the fish oil since I seem to burp it all day when I take it...so I took it at night...and burped it all night :confused3

I am taking a few things: Multivitamin for the Heart, D, calcium, magnesium, and fish oil. I'm still toying with the fish oil since I seem to burp it all day when I take it...so I took it at night...and burped it all night :confused3

Had the same fish oil problem. I now take the GNC fish oil that is lemon flavor and don't have the problem.

I also take GNC active mega women's 1/day, and then on alternating days take the GNC womens 50+ and energy/metabolism. I also take CoQ10, Fish oil, chewable calcium.

Haven't been online at all this last week. Trying to catch up, still, around here, fighting a sinus infection, dealing with kid issues, etc. Actually LOST last week, not much, but the scale moved. Then, in less than 24 hours, and being totally OP, gained FIVE POUNDS OVERNIGHT.....literally!!!!! I HATE MIDLIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sigh...........

Trying to decide to vacation or not vacation this summer. Carnival has a GREAT NM resident rate out of LA in May.....on my anniversary.....but can't nail kids down, the 2 that might go both want to take their BF/GF so they have someone to hang out with. UGH!!! It is nearly that cheap, but.......$399 for 7 days!

Off to potty dogs & run errands. Hopefully back later......

What a long weekend. I'm slowly getting back on track after my illness. Did Walk Away the Pounds today. We picked up the exercise bike from my friend's house last night. My brother is going to tighten the pedal for me later and try to get the arm stride things working and attached plus see if he can get the electronic part to work. New batteries didn't seem to work but the resistance is manual turn. It's not in perfect condition but hopefully with a little TLC we can get it going to get in additional exercise.

QOTD: I take Niacin daily(when I don't miss my pills that is) with my BP pill. And I just started consuming 2 tablespoons of sliced flax seeds a day(on oatmeal, cereal or in my salad). It gives me 2800 mg of Omega 3. :thumbsup2 No nasty burping from fish oil which wasn't so bad when I took it on a moderately full tummy. My PCP wants me taking both to lower my triglycerides. My total cholesterol is good but I'd still like to raise my HDL and lower my LDL for better balance.

Sure you might have fun but I have skipped mine everytime. Had our 20th a year and half ago and with being on Facebook I had all these people reach out to me and I friended them. I soon realized I have nothing in common w/ these folks and after all the reunion stuff I ended up de-friended almost all of them. I have 3-4 great friends that I had in HS that I still keep in touch with and that's all I need. I went to 1 casual get together party for the reunion and soon realized it was not for me. Now I had 900+ in my graduating class so you sort of did not really know most people anyway :goodvibes even when in school with them.

I had a class of 415, DS's class at the same school is well over 600 now. Lots of kids. Sadly, or amazingly (don't really know) but I know at least 3/4 them. I tended to drift from circle to circle so I had a lot of "friends" in HS. But really I drifted away from all of them. I got married at 19 and moved to Hawaii, then GA. It's just in the last 7 years that we've moved back here again.

Oh I don't know. Curiosity will probably get the better of me. I'm nosy by nature. LOL

Welcome to Healthy Habits Pamper Week!

My name is CC (short for Christina) and I will be your Healthy Habits coach for BL 11. I love the BL challenges and Healthy Habits has helped me significantly in achieving many of my goals.

Some Background Information: Thanks to donac (Dona-hostess of Team Donald) and jenanderson for their amazing help so I know how to coach! I couldn’t do this without seeing them in action previously. I will be continuing the prizes that Jen started.

Here’s How Healthy Habits Pamper Week Works: Each day there will be three "Habits" for you to complete. You do not need to keep track of your points and there will not be a winner. This is simply for your enjoyment!

Welcome to Day 6, Wednesday 2/23

1) Pour yourself a cup of tea and relax for about 10 minutes.
2) Have 3 servings of veggies.
3) Cook/prepare all of your meals.

This has not been a good week food wise.. sigh. Why is it when I am loosing motivation all the food at work is good junk food?!? We had cookies, ice cream sundaes and cupcakes all in the last 3 days and I gave in to all of them :( Today IS a new day and already have my last chance and level 2 of 30 day done- going to get 30 min of yoga meltdown in and then off to work...

-em

Could it be that isn't just more food... but that you are more AWARE of it because it is harder to "fight" it with less motivation??? I know that probably doesn't really help the situation... just thinking.

I know this quote is a few days old. Hopefully things have been going better for you.

QUOTD: Monday 21:
So what's your favorite color? It's another simple non food thing that makes you happy.

PINK, PINK, PINK!! Pretty much any shade.... from hot pink to petal pink to magenta to almost purple..... but nothing RED. I can't stand red..... isn't that strange??? Anyhow, I even got MARRIED in PINK!! I don't have any pink around the house though (but I do have a deep purple guest bathroom that I love!).

The Expedition Everest 5K is that weekend. It's a race, and obstacle course and a scavenger hunt all in one. It's Saturday night starting at 8:30.

Darn, gonna miss you at the Cape! But yeah, I'd skip it to for Disney but I'm already paid up.

My reunion is October 15th. I still don't know if I want to go. I don't even talk to anyone from HS.
LOL I'm not that young!

First off..... I agree with Lisa. If you aren't DYING to go to the reunion, why bother? I have NEVER been to a class reunion (if we've even had one:confused3 ). I've kept in touch with NO ONE from high school. Never had a real close friend (although, like I mentioned here recently, my hs boyfriend recently friended me on FB! :lmao:). Why put yourself through the stress (and expense) if you don't REALLY want to see people??

Hello Donalds!:donald:

Gonna try to catch up here quickly since it's almost bedtime for me here!

We had a GREAT weekend in Paris and DH & DS were very cooperative with my commando style touring. They are not always so helpful with this but I think they realized we needed to move around quickly if we wanted to take advantage of the short time we would be there. The weather was cold and windy all weekend and rainy all day Saturday so that stunk but otherwise we had a blast. We are already planning what we would do next time we can go. Since we've now all seen the major museums and monuments, next time we can be a little more relaxed and do some things off the beaten path. Loved our hotel and we could stick our head out the window, look right and see the Eiffel Tower at night:lovestruc

Pamela - You finally got the scale to move! That's what I did (eat MORE) to get it to move for me a couple of weeks ago! WTG resisting that pizza:cool1: I know you must be so proud of your DD!:cutie:

Shawnprincess:
Your birthday weekend in Paris sounds AMAZING! I get excited seeing DTD from my Hilton hotel room.... I can't IMAGINE seeing the Eiffel Tower!! Sorry about the heat/hot water situation.

Hopefully the scale will move a second week in a row. I have a few splurges over the weekend, but I am RIGHT on track with food and exercise this week.

Comment about the "matronly bosom" in a swim suit.... that is one of the main reasons I went with the Land's End suit.... good support (underwire) and coverage for "the girls".

Pink. Bright or light, lots of my shirts are pink, and my down vest is hot pink, with hot pink gloves. And I'll be sporting a magenta sparkleskirt with a pink shirt and pink tiara on sunday! Denim blue woiuld be a close second.

Fun question.

Good evening team Donald! The team is doing great to be ahead by 8 pounds this week. I had no contribution with my .8 pound gain. I've let a little TOM and pretrip stress let my guard down, but today I realized i've been doing so well, and need to continue to fuel my body with the right foods so I will have the energy I need on race day, so I did reign it in, and get back on track.

Got out to finish all the errands i needed to do today and then took michael to swim at the Y for a while. He's painting his pinewood derby car now since the final workshop is the day after we get back. He packed his suitcase today, and I'm pretty much ready. After work tomorrow, I'll pack mine, and we'll be good to go.

I just want to say thank you to all of you for being here and for the support and inspiration I get from you all every day. You guys are the best.

Hope you see this before you leave..... GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! I am SO excited for you and Lisa and Rose and all of the WISH folks who are running this weekend. Can't WAIT to see pictures!! Have a fabulous time and a GREAT run!!

:wave2: Not a lot of time tonight but wanted to check in and say Hi. We went to Kohl's today and I had to return a few things that I bought in the fall to wear for work. I haven't worked so they all still had the tags on and are now too big! I was really kind of bummed because I really really liked one of the outfits.
!

WOOHOO!!!! You will find ANOTHER outfit you love... in a smaller size!

Pjlla: Saw this today and thought of you. Trying to decide if I want to make one: http://craftsandsutch.blogspot.com/2011/02/menu-organizer-and-recipe-holder.html Pretty cool looking!

OOOHHHHH.... looks like a project for next week (school vacation!). I'll post a picture if I make it. Thanks for thinking of me!

I can SO sympathize with the overnight 5 pounds. Things like that make me SO CRAZY!!:headache: Just keep going .... the TRUE numbers will show up eventually.

Quotd—Tues 22nd:
What vitamins/supplements if any do you take daily or at least once a week?

Well.... I've been doing well remembering to take a multi-vit. I also take a vitamin D occasionally, to help with calcium absorption and because I live in NE in the winter. I've been trying to remember to take fish oil every day too. We do eat fish (mostly salmon patties) about once a week, but I KNOW that isn't enough. I've never seemed to experience any problems with fishy taste or burping though. You can try flaxseed oil capsules instead if that is a problem for you.

I know that there are probably more supplements I should be thinking about taking (like calcium), but honestly.... I figure I'm doing good if I just keep up with the multi-vit and fish oil for now.

Evening friends.... I honestly just hopped on here to say a quick happy birthday to someone on FB and "lurk" here for a moment. But I couldn't resist saying hi!

Worked today.... not sure about tomorrow yet. If I'm not working, I will definitely be on here to say hi. Good night!.......................P

I've got the results tabulated! I will post them first thing in the morning!

TEAM DONALD won for the week and reached 502 pounds for the challenge!!!

Biggest Loser 11 Spring Challenge Week 7 Team Donald!
This week’s group loss is 37.4 lbs.
Average percentage of weight lost .47 %
Total group weight loss so far 502 pounds!

AWESOME!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of the week? This time I’ve done a TOP 10 LIST ! That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get! (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

Thanks to ohMom-Molli for these clippies. They were used for a previous BL but we can recycle. Don't they look great!

I have removed some parts of the results as I'm feeling overwhelmed and with people coming and going it's hard to keep track. I've left in the most important parts.

I will post the % to goal results later!!!

Congrats to Disfam95 and all our top losers this week!!!! :cheer2: Wow, we've lost over 500 pounds, and I'm happy to say I have contributed a little this challenge.:rotfl2:

On the weight loss front, I'm heading down at 203.8, but will be ready to rock this challenge to ONE-derland when I get back.

Lisa- Safe travels today and I'll see you real soon!!!

Thanks so much for all the well wishes. It really means a lot to me, and I know without all the love, support, advice, hugs and inspiration I have gotten from all of you here I would not be doing a half marathon. Thanks for being there. You are all amazing friends.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHY!!!!!!! party:

WAY TO GO DISFAM!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

SAFE TRAVELS TO ALL THE WISHERS HEADING DOWN FOR THE HALF!!!! Good luck everyone!!!!!!

Woohoo me! I hit 10%!! My goal was to hit 20% by the end of this challenge and I might actually make it!

OK the last few days I have felt like I was losing my way. Junk food has crept into the house and we've been eating out, a lot. That has to stop today!!!! I need to get through this week with the food, or lack there of. I'm going to the grocery store this morning, don't have a ton of cash to spend but I need to pick up some fruit. The veggies I bought earlier in the week were NASTY! Come on summer!!!!!!

HAVE AN AWESOME DAY DONALDS!!!!!

:banana:Congrats to all our biggest losers this week:banana:

What about LisaH being #2 woo hoo !!!:cool1:

And, DisFam95 #1 for both groups :dance3:

Way to Go Donalds !!!

:bday:party:

Happy Birthday Kathy!!!

Good luck to all the Princess runnersprincess:

Sue, hope you got your Palo, but if you didn't, I've never had any problems getting them onboard the first day for the time I wanted. We are only Silver CC also but I think 2 more cruises and we are gold!

I hope to be in the 180's by next Friday. But I feel like I'm losing my way, I've had very little patience this week and it's coming out in food.

Hang in there! Take it day by day -- you can do this! I felt like eating more after lunch today but I set the timer for 10 minutes and got busy washing dishes and after the timer went off I realized I was actually full. I think I will be doing this more often. It helps that I always have some dishes to wash with a broken dishwasher:rotfl:

Quotd—Tues 22nd:
What vitamins/supplements if any do you take daily or at least once a week?

Hmmmmm, I don't take any vitamins nor supplements, I must be the odd one here. I should be taking a calcium supplement and I have some so I just took one!:) It has Vitamin D in it too.

Julie, have you thought about just you & hubby going? Sometimes it sounds like you need a break from those kids!:goodvibes Wouldn't that be a nice anniversary getaway, just the 2 of you:cloud9:

Hope the 5 pounds go away as quickly as the came...been there, done that!

Well, our gloomy weather burned off yesterday and we've had nice sunshine since then. Very very cold out though. Got my mound of dishes done yesterday and got almost all the laundry done. Did 45 minutes on the elliptical and went to Stiching group last night where we had some very yummy eats. I was up 1.8 this morning:scared1: probably due to 3 or 4 glasses of champagne. I need to be careful this week as we're also having a ladies night Friday night. I think I will try having just salad for dinner tonight and tomorrow night. Another fresh mound of dishes awaits me today. I've been to yoga class this morning and tried to watch BL but my DVR is not working. I am also working on a 1000 piece puzzle that I bought at Versailles this weekend. It's the painting of the Coronation of napoleon. I don't think there are alot of people in this world that still do puzzles but I love them. No one in my family likes them. A girl at yoga told me about the book "Abundance", historical fiction about Marie Antoinette and I ordered it on my Kindle. Julie, I also ordered "Made to Crave". I get a daily devotional from Proverbs 31 company and Lysa T. is a frequent writer there. I didn't know the book was also a bestseller.

Hope you are all having a great day! I think I am going to make a chart of the 14.3 pounds I have left to lose in this challenge to make my goal and post it on the wall in front of my scale. I'll color in the block in red every time I lose .2, either with a bar going up or going down:woohoo:

Congrats to all the biggest losers!!! :cool1::cool1:...slow and steady loss here. I'm not "making the board" but happy with my progress...

Happy Birthday Kathy - have a terrific day!!:goodvibes

Zoesmom, glad you are feeling better...!!

BernardandMsBianca, the Everest 5K sounds like so much fun! I wish we lived closer to FL so that we could do it down here. Of course, my DH's favorite refrain since we've been down in FL for our February break (um, it is 2 degrees today at home!) - while we are sitting in 80 degrees on Daytona beach - is "...and tell my WHY again we live in upstate NY..!!"

Welcome to Day 6, Wednesday 2/23

1) Pour yourself a cup of tea and relax for about 10 minutes.
2) Have 3 servings of veggies.
3) Cook/prepare all of your meals.

CC, definitely can't participate this week. No cooking meals at WDW!! ;)

We leave for WDW tomorrow morning. This might be my last post for a while. (note to self: need to PM Connie that I have to wait til I get back to NY to send in my measurements - I forgot to bring a tape measure!)
Have a great week everyone!!

Anything good on sale for produce around you? We had grapefruit and oranges on sale, plus asparagus. Broccoli looked like heck, so I skipped it.

:Way to Go Donalds !!!

Good luck to all the Princess runnersprincess:
Hang in there! Take it day by day -- you can do this! I felt like eating more after lunch today but I set the timer for 10 minutes and got busy washing dishes and after the timer went off I realized I was actually full. I think I will be doing this more often. It helps that I always have some dishes to wash with a broken dishwasher:rotfl:

Well, our gloomy weather burned off yesterday and we've had nice sunshine since then. Very very cold out though. Got my mound of dishes done yesterday and got almost all the laundry done. Did 45 minutes on the elliptical and went to Stich and ***** last night where we had some very yummy eats.

Shawnprincess:

I LOVE the idea of setting the timer. I sometimes get a mid-afternoon munchie attack that comes out of nowhere. Next time I will set a timer for 15 minutes and see how I feel then.

I love puzzles too, but I rarely "indulge" in leaving one out because I get tired of it sitting there..... I'm really slow with puzzles. But I love doing them with the kids when I am subbing in Kindergarten! Some of those 100 piece puzzles can be really challenging! :rotfl:

I am so taken with the chart you are thinking of making. I want to do something like that for my last few pounds I want to lose. I need SOMETHING to keep me moving. I've been within 2 pounds of my goal two or three times in the past year and have never quite made it. I know I should be happy I'm still where I am, but I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see that number on the scale before I head to Disney in May. I've been looking at pictures from my trip with DS last year and (it may be all in my own head), but I think I look SO MUCH BETTER with just those last few pounds off. Maybe I'll add a picture from that trip with my "chart".... whatever I come up with. Thanks for the great idea!

Well... Happy Wednesday morning friends! I knew DD would be excited about our Mother/Daughter trip in May, but honestly, she is just beside herself!! She mentions it every morning and wants to talk non-stop when we are in the car going places. MY KIND OF GIRL!!

Anyhow.... we are thinking about making this a "THEMED" trip... but we can't come up with anything original. We thought about "Been there.... never done that!" (trying things we've never done/seen) or some sort of "Princesses of NH in WDW" or "Disney Divas"..... but none of that is too exciting. We'd like a theme we could work into some t-shirts or pins, into our photos, into the future scrapbook. Any creative ideas out there??

I hit the gym at the Y last night. I've been avoiding it since the 1st of the year, to let all of the New Years Resolution-ers get it out of their systems. Anyhow, I've been doing just okay with cardio at home on the TM, but very lacking in strength training. After hitting the Treadclimber and the Treadmill last night, I grabbed some free weights and I was pleasantly surprised that it seems like I haven't lost much strength. I didn't attempt push-ups though! There were too many witnesses!!

I want to keep up the strength training through the spring to keep my arms and shoulders looking nice for short-sleeve weather! I'm old and a former fat girl, so there is no way I'm going to be able to completely avoid that "chicken wing" flap on the back of my biceps, but at least I can make the rest look okay.

My healthy vegan stew I made on Saturday didn't last the week..... turns out that DH actually liked it!! Go figure! Anyhow, it was so easy, I might make more today or tomorrow if I find that I have all of the ingredients. For those who might be interested, I'll post the "recipe" (such as it is) on the BL recipe thread later.

**Healthy eating breakthrough for my family. I served "make-your-own" yogurt parfaits for DINNER last night and got NO complaints!! I've done it for breakfast in the past, but never for lunch or dinner. I put out a container of Stoneyfield farms fatfree organic french vanilla yogurt, thawed blueberries, sliced almonds, FiberOne cereal, sliced bananas, cantaloupe, pineapple, diced dried apricots, craisins, cinnamon. Plus everyone (other than myself) got a half toasted bagel and a cup of cocoa. FAST, EASY, HEALTHY.... and NO COMPLAINTS!!

We had had hamburgers (a rare treat in our house) the night before and I wanted them to understand that we need to balance meals like that with much lighter, healthier NON-MEAT meals.... hence the yogurt night. It will certainly be added to the regular rotation once the warmer weather hits.

Also I have TWO NSV to add.....

DS and I were watching a tv show and a woman mentioned she had a heart attack at age 47. DS asked about my age (I'm nearly 47) and I let him know that even though I am that age, he has NOTHING to worry about..... I am NOT overweight, I exercise regularly, eat healthy, and my heart is in GREAT SHAPE! It was SO NICE to be able to set his mind at ease about that!!

Second..... I mentioned to DD that I'd like to lose about 5 pounds before our trip to Disney. She told me that she didn't know why.... she thinks I look fabulous!! :scared1: This is a 15 1/2 year old saying this to me!! I was floored (and flattered, of course). I posted a few years ago when I was mid-way in this journey about not wanting to be a source of embarrassement for my kids (at least, due to my weight), and obviously I've achieved that goal!

Anyhow. I promised myself I'd only be here until 9:30 and I am past that time. Gotta roll now. BBL to talk......................P

My first thought was "Live Disney or Die" but that might be a little extreme :rotfl:

Just wanted to say "Hi!" -- I'm doing the Princess this weekend, and then I will let myself post more with the Donalds. I've never had such a short stint between Halfs before, so it's been a challenge to reintegrate, get my life going, and then get ready to go again...I have been reading along, and I look forward to coming in with lots of energy and focus next week! :goodvibes

I think everyone is doing a stellar job, February is hard...and we're coming on strong! :cool1:
