TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Stacy - My legs are killing me!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

I can't climb the stairs either. OMG I hate kettle bells!!! But I'm gonna do it again Thursday. LOL

This week is starting out good for me. Had a short run Sunday because I was up way to late Saturday. Yesterday, ran for about 40 mins. Ran 8.3 miles this morning and felt great.

Had my annual appointment with my heart Doctor this morning. He said everything looked good (had 5 stents 4 years ago) and doesn't need to do a stress test for another year.

Hope everyone is doing great,

David

How is the driving going?
I've been letting DS14 move the car back and forth in the driveway but that's it.

Pish posh on the mail man. The plow guys took out my mailbox for the last time 3 years ago, I gave up putting it back up. Apparently in CT it's a sport.

OMG! That is hilarious! And you still get your mail? Here they wouldn't give it to you.

Glad your appt. went well. I am SO IMPRESSED!!!! What an inspiration!! My DH had a heart attack/1 stent put it 4 years ago at age 48. And, for the most part, he has done nothing exerting until about 6 months ago. Yet still not much.

Just a quick hello!
I returned from my wonderful week visiting my parents in Florida (beautiful weather and so relaxing) but ended up with the stomach flu. It wasn't pretty. Out of work for a few days but I am back today...still feeling achy...but back at my desk.

Needless to say, I have yet to catch up on the boards but wanted to let you all know I am still alive, kicking and hopefully dropping some pounds (I do not recommend the stomach flu as a weigh loss idea!)

Keep up the great work Donalds!

Biggest Loser 11 Spring Challenge Week 6 Team Donald!
This week’s group loss is 33.3 lbs.
Average percentage of weight lost .35 %
Total group weight loss so far 452.4 pounds!

AWESOME!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of the week? This time I’ve done a TOP 10 LIST ! That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get! (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

Thanks to ohMom-Molli for these clippies. They were used for a previous BL but we can recycle. Don't they look great!

I have removed some parts of the results as I'm feeling overwhelmed and with people coming and going it's hard to keep track. I've left in the most important parts.

I will post the % to goal results later!!!

Haha I hear you on that one! I did the same thing, I did it on Monday and then COULDN'T do it again until Thursday. So then I did it on Thurs, Fri, and yesterday. :thumbsup2

Legs really hurt the first time but it has gotten easier thankfully! At least we know it's working the muscles and I am definitely sweating while I am doing it!

Which Kettlebell DVD are you using? Bob's?

Right now just using the one that came with the kettle bell which is just a 30min workout with Bob but I am going to have to pick up a new one soon because it is a "first time" dvd so they go over how to do every move before you do it so I need to get another one with some more moves and a little longer. Any recommendations?

I would like to also recognize Mandie Jo for losing 1.34% (3 pounds). I had already done the calculations when I saw her message and her loss! I just wanted to give her a shout out!!!!!

Some days I hate computers too!!!! But great job!!!!!

Had my annual appointment with my heart Doctor this morning. He said everything looked good (had 5 stents 4 years ago) and doesn't need to do a stress test for another year.

Hope everyone is doing great,

David

That's great news David!!!

OMG! That is hilarious! And you still get your mail? Here they wouldn't give it to you.

my mom lives next door and her box is set back from the road so they just deliver it there.

UGH, I figured the 10 pound would have a next level DVD in it.
Yeah, need to find some new ones.

QOTD 2/15 -
If you could instantly, painlessly, for FREE, have ANY cosmetic/plastic surgery you wanted to change any physical feature you wanted, what if any would you have done?

Tummy Tuck! Tummy Tuck!!!!! Tummy Tuck!!!!!!!!!!!!

After decades of being overweight & 2 pregnancies (1 with twins) my tummy will never be flat & smooth without a tummy tuck.
:sad2:

ok for the QOTD---what would I do? lipo on my thighs! (can it include my butt too?) why is it the week is so productive and the weekend goes to crap? Had a slice of cake on Friday night for my parents 56th anniversary...some chocolate covered strawberries and a few chocolate covered pretzels, then Saturday a glass of champagne with dinner and Sunday really went to crap --it was like all day momosias...with another couple. but back on track full cardio today and weights...looked into a gym (but I can do it at home just like the variety of equipment---but would rather put the money towards Disney vacation) going to bed early than maybe Billy Blanks bootcamp (legs)....good luck to everyone this week!

Good Wednesday morning Team Donald

I just realized that I haven't posted this morning like I usually do. I didn't want people to be worried aboutme.

My back is still pretty sore but I know that backs can take a while mend. I haven't been working out but I did do a lot of stretching yesterday and walked 8000 steps so I am pretty happy with that.

Congrats to yrdlyprincess on being our top winner last week and to all our losers from last week.

Have to go. Sorry so short.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Hello Donalds!! :donald:

I've been reading along but haven't posted in awhile, I think not since last Saturday. It's been a busy week but slowing down a little finally. My new tooth has joined in with the others and is right at home so eating is all back to normal. I've even eaten a few very crunchy things that I've been slightly nervous about but all is good.

Congrats to all the biggest losers this week! And kudos to yrdlyprincess for being the top winner this week!!! I had a very good week last week for me and my percentage of weight loss was .86, which I do not often have. I've dropped another pound so far this week:banana: My new scale is really motivating me.....it weighs in .2 increments, does not need solar power to work and is just really cool and sleek looking. It just looks like it's gonna give you good news! I'm enjoying our new relationship so far:lovestruc
My old scale was solar powered and it's still dark in the morning and we have weak lights here that are sometimes stuck in eaves and corners so it was not easy to weigh in the morning. I always weigh every day 3 times and I have to see a number twice before it's "official"....my old scale would give me every number from 90 to 200, it was getting really old!!! My new scale gives me the exact same number all 3 times:banana:

We had a very nice Valentine's Day here, I wrote a love letter to my DH and one to my DS (very different letters!) and gave them each a small bag of candy. Not very healthy but couldn't think of anything else for guys! DH really surprised me (shocked is more like it) and gave me a Nikon Cool Pics camera. We have both been complaining about lugging around our big Nikon on every vacation so this will be perfect. We'll take it to Paris this weekend and try it out.

KimG, your cruise and vacation sounds awesome! I would love to sail the Dream while it's still new and fresh but it will probably be a few years. So sorry to hear about your grandmother, but what a wonderfully long life she had!

Melissa, I'm glad to hear your daughter is feeling better.

David, all your running...so impressive! Esp after hearing some of your medical history. What an inspiration.

Dona, I hope your back feels better. We did camel pose in yoga today and I had to be careful with my back. Keep doing your stretches.

Pamela, congrats to your dtr breaking her old record! Swimming is such a great sport I wish DS had stuck with it.

50'sJayne: I  Whole Foods! If I was back in my hometown in NC, I would be about 10 minutes away from my WholeFoods store. We are getting a new one soon and then our area will have 3 Whole Foods! Another reason I need to get back to USA soon!

GoldCupMom, thanks for being our coach this week along with everything else you have going on! You've had some really great, thought-provoking questions. There's a lot I would change about myself physically, I think my "meno-pot" would be #1 but I like my personality, work ethic, temperment and my financial acuity! That's important! I'm a saver and not a spender!

Well, we have a race going between 3 people heading to "onederland", does anyone want to race to 180's with me...I have 4.8 pounds to go to get there.
Along the way I will celebrate losing 30 pounds and reducing my BMI from 37 to 32:cool1:

Hope everyone is having a great week! See you tomorrow which will be my 50th birthday:yay::yay::yay:

Good morning!
Up early for a Drs appointment. Had to be up early yesterday too so hopefully this will be the start of breaking a stupid sleep cycle I've been in. Can't fall asleep at night and usually up until 2 or so but then sleep through the morning till 10:30 or so. I hate doing that because I just seem to lose so much of the day.

I haven't been doing all that well with how I've been eating. I did have a small loss so I guess that's ok but I really need to buckle down more. I think it's been stress eating. I'm a terrible muncher.

Hard for me to read back and get totally caught up so I will start fresh from here.

But in response to yesterdays QOTH, tummy tuck!

***I only have 5 minutes to respond here, so if I hop off prematurely, I will be back later!!

:wave2: Good Morning.

:woohoo::cheer2: I know how exciting it is to reach those goals! I am getting excited for our Summer Swim Team to start (but around July I will be getting excited for it to end!)

That reminds me, I need to make an appt to have DD15's shoulder checked and see if she can swim this summer. I have a feeling that she won't be able to swim any more to which will not make her happy.
Shoulders seem to be the number 1 problem for swimmers. DD had some PT last summer that really helped. Swimming is like BREATHING for my DD.... it would truly KILL her to have to quit.

How is the driving going?
I've been letting DS14 move the car back and forth in the driveway but that's it.

Pish posh on the mail man. The plow guys took out my mailbox for the last time 3 years ago, I gave up putting it back up. Apparently in CT it's a sport.

Driving is going well.... but obviously will take some practice. She drove on the highway, 65 mph, this weekend. She did great.

We're just glad to hear from you. Don't worry about getting caught up.... just hop in here and get started!

Well friends....... the kids will be walking in any second! No time to chat, unfortunately. I might have some time at lunch and will try to hop back on if I do.

Things are going well here. I had a "run-in" with some sugar cookies yesterday (must have been a weak moment, cause I'm not really a cookie person), but I just wrote them down and moved on with my day and made good choices for the remainder of the day.

Well.... I can hear them coming!! gotta run! (subbing in Kindergarten today!)...........P

Good morning Team Donald!!

A big congrats to Yrdlyprincess on being our biggest loser this week!!:cool1:
And congrats to all the other top losers, including me. I was so excited to see my name up there. Big numbers don't come my way often, so I need to celebrate them.

Been busy with not enough dis time, but am still very focused and in control. Down a pound this morning to 201.8, so very excited and motivated to keep at it. If I step on the scale once and it's below 200, I'm not weighing again til after disney.:lmao:

Got out for 3 mile run/walk this morning and decided that's the perfect length for me. Not too daunting when I first go out, can keep up my energy the whole time, and I get home with some time to spare on the dis before work.

Shawn- So sweet you wrote love letters to your men, and awesome dh got you a new camera!! So exciting. If I don't get early tomorrow, have a wonderful birthday!! It's my sisters birthday too and last year she turned 50 and we had a little party for her the kids made a big banner and I loved what michael wrote on it. "50's not old, 100 is!" So remember that, you're still so young!!

Pamela- congrats to dd on her new record. She must be so thrilled and you must be so proud of her. God bless you on teaching her to drive, that can not be easy. My friend is teaching her dd also, and she took me for a drive, and i was white knuckled the whole time. I guess it takes a while to figure out how close you are to things on the right side of the car, but man I thought we were going to hit a few things. I had a hard time teaching michael to ride his bike, so I can't imagine what driving will be like.

Dona- Sorry about the back. Hope you are able to give the rest it needs and you're feeling better soon. Backs are so touchy to deal with, but you definitely don't want to do too much too quick.

Julie- glad ds is feeling better, and went to work.:thumbsup2 I'm sure you've got that gentle persuasive mom thing going on with him the must have helped him make the right decision. 63 sounds beautiful, and we may see that this week too!!!!

Buffy- I'm catching up to ya.;) All the talk of the pain makes me really want to try out those kettleballs. Congrats on the c25k!! When I did it last year, I didn't do anything else, so I would think doing the kettle ball at the same time could affect you when you run. I also worked up to a 2.5 mile run straight, but could hardly walk the next day, so I decided that run/walk intervals worked better for me at my age and weight. I usually do 4 min run, 1 walk for shorter runs, and 2/1 for longer ones. It's a great program, and they also say if you need to repeat a week that's ok too. Keep up the great work. You're an exercising machine.

Disfam95- Welcome!! Congrats on your loss so far, you're off to a great start.

MacG- So sorry to hear about your grandmother. It's so nice to have the good memories at these sad times.

Lisa-You going to join us in the race to One-derland, aren't you!! We can get there this time!!!!

LTS- You are doing so great. Things like chocolate fondue are so tough to say no to, and you did it. Sorry the ibs is acting up, but even if it weren't I'd bet you'd have made the right decision. You're are going to be in ONederland before you know it!!

Hello to everyone I've missed. Keep on keeping on!! We can do this!!:cheer2:

Almost forgot the qotd, since I was having a hard time deciding which part to change. I think I'd go for the Tummy tuck, but a little breast reduction and lift would be nice too.

Have a great day everyone!!

:wave2: Good Morning. Looking forward to a good and productive day. I think that I may go and check out the Planet Fitness in our area. It isn't really all that close but it isn't a bad drive and I would love to be able to use a bike and the weight equipment. I am really not into the videos thing. I was hoping that we would join the Y again but it made more sense for DH to join the place right near his work so he can go at lunch time. My only big problem with deciding to join a gym is just that I don't know if I will really use it. Some days I am motivated but usually I'm not! At least Planet Fitness is cheap and no contract. Haven't discussed it with DH yet-- figure I will go look and see if it is decent (clean, nice looking, friendly etc)

NSV this morning! Pulled out a sweater to wear this morning. When I tried to wear it last year I decided not to because it was way too tight. This morning I put it on and almost decided not to wear it because it is too big!:rotfl:

I just realized that I haven't posted this morning like I usually do. I didn't want people to be worried aboutme.
My back is still pretty sore but I know that backs can take a while mend. I haven't been working out but I did do a lot of stretching yesterday
I was worried about how you are feeling. :hug:Have you ever seen a chiropractor? I never really believed in them until I had a terrible back problem and my dr said there was nothing he could do but meds that made me practically unconscious. He suggested I try a chiro. I was mad and really didn't want to but was in so much pain I could barely stand up. I called and they got me in a few hours later. When I walked in I was bent over and in tears with every step. I didn't expect much to happen. I was so surprised! I left walking straight and my pain was down by about 80%! I still don't believe in going to one regularly but now when I have a back problem I start there.

Good morning!

 Set a sleep schedule and stick to it! Don't let yourself sleep in.

:cheer2:on the loss. Get the munchies out of the house and just stock it with healthy options.

My new scale is really motivating me.....it weighs in .2 increments, does not need solar power to work and is just really cool and sleek looking. It just looks like it's gonna give you good news! I'm enjoying our new relationship so far:lovestruc

DH really surprised me (shocked is more like it) and gave me a Nikon Cool Pics camera. We have both been complaining about lugging around our big Nikon on every vacation so this will be perfect. We'll take it to Paris this weekend and try it out.
:rotfl2: Nothing beats a sexy scale to keep you motivated!
You will love having a smaller camera. I keep mine in my purse most of the time and it is really great for vacations. We want lots of pics from Paris!

o but back on track full cardio today and weights...looked into a gym (but I can do it at home just like the variety of equipment---but would rather put the money towards Disney vacation) going to bed early than maybe Billy Blanks bootcamp (legs)....good luck to everyone this week!
Great job getting right back on program.:cheer2: And congratulations on being our Biggest Loser!:cheer2:

Shoulders seem to be the number 1 problem for swimmers. DD had some PT last summer that really helped. Swimming is like BREATHING for my DD.... it would truly KILL her to have to quit.

Things are going well here. I had a "run-in" with some sugar cookies yesterday (must have been a weak moment, cause I'm not really a cookie person), but I just wrote them down and moved on with my day and made good choices for the remainder of the day.
I hate it when those darn cookies jump out in front of me! But how you deal with it is the important thing and you did just fine. We can't deprive ourselves or we are likely to implode.

Unfortunately DD's shoulder problem is a genetic thing she got from me-- something about having loose joints that don't have enough of something holding the joints together so it moves very freely. Made her a great butterflier! We have done quite a bit of PT but it isn't helping and the only other option would be surgery and we aren't willing to do that. She enjoys swimming but it isn't her life so the risks aren't worth the benefits. She wants to do school swim team next year too. If the dr says that she can swim and will just have pain but it won't do any damage (which I don't think it will) then she can decide what she wants to do.

Been busy with not enough dis time, but am still very focused and in control. Down a pound this morning to 201.8, so very excited and motivated to keep at it. If I step on the scale once and it's below 200, I'm not weighing again til after disney.:lmao:
:thumbsup2 That sounds like a very smart plan!

I heard from my friend and her husband is doing okay, had some stents put in but they are hoping he will be out of the hospital this afternoon. Poor guy can't really catch a break. He had some problems awhile back that after quite a long time they found out was due to thyroid issues and after he got on the meds he was like a new man (and lost a lot of weight), then he has had terrible kidney stones for the last 5-7 years, and now this.

Gotta run. Going to get my bloodwork finally done today, get my allergy shots, return a whole bunch of stuff to walmart and probably try to buy a new belt:woohoo:, and then check out the Fitness place. There is also another place that is closer and right by the allergists that I may check out but I think it is $$$$, and doesn't have a pool. If I am going to pay big money I want a pool and the Y is much closer and much easier for us to use. But I may go look just to see what it is like.

Have a great day full of great choices!:cheer2:

Donalds,

I need a new scale. My current scale has a missing back and the battery continues to fall out. I'm looking for a digital model with not many bells and whistles since all I really want it to do is weigh me :rotfl:

Also, has anyone used a heart rate monitor? I've been using a Polar HRM for about a year but it is pretty basic and I would love to get my miles as well as heart rate on the monitor! Any suggestions?

Thanks!
