TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Hi just checking in with you for an update. Did you get a chance to try it out yet? Do you like it?

I really like mine I have only done the workout two times because I had to take a break for two days because my legs were SO sore! I did notice the second time it was easier and I could do more so that was awesome! I really love it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I will have to get another workout dvd so I can do different workouts instead of the same one every time.

Not yet.
I had my mammo yesterday which while the test itself was not terrible, the last shot she had to take she wanted to raise my arm. Well, 3 years ago we were in a car accident and I was slightly twisted in the seat and messed up my shoulder. Now I can't raise my arm straight up over my head. Of course I had to do that for the mammo so I was hurting pretty bad all day yesterday and it's still sore today.
I'm popping the video in now to check it out. DH and DS14 are interested in doing it too.

Hope your arm/shoulder feels better soon. I was also victim of an accident Nov of 2009 and my back and neck are always sore along with my right shoulder sometimes, it stinks!

It was a rough accident, DS10 got staples in his head, I messed up my shoulder and DH tore 2 disks. Still waiting on a settlement 3 years later, it will be 4 years this summer.
My shoulder doesn't hurt all the time but raising my arms is the hard part. I've avoided physical therapy so far but I think I'm going to have to go soon. I just hate that it's affected our lives so much, we are a pretty active family and it's really put a damper on that.

LOL I sound terrible, I'm either hurt or someones sick! I'm a piece of work aren't I ?!?!?

Thanks for the warm welcome. I sent the PM with my weight info. It is great to read about everyones progress. I will try to catch up but feel like I walked into a movie that is half over. :)

:wave2: Well, I as so scared to get on the scale this morning but the WL fairies were good to me-- another 1 bites the dust! Hopefully it is that whole "vary your calories" thing and if I am careful this week it won't bite me in the butt next weight in. All the cake, naked and not, is out of the house now so I won't have temptation staring at me.

Need to figure out my weekend plan. Our menu has been sort of all over the place so I need to organize that and not allow any surprises to be an obstacle to healthy eating.

I am just posting quickly to say ................I got my 25 pound clippie!!!
FINALLY a nice little chunk of weight fell off of me and I've officially lost 26.2:banana:
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I may be around more that I thought this weekend! Izzie has a horrible cough and fever and I think she could possibly have pneumonia. Complaining about her chest when she coughs!

Quick stop in to say I lost another 1.6 lbs. :yay:

I have a sick little girl to take to the Dr in a few minutes. So I'll come back later if I get a chance. She didn't get good rest last night up every couple hours. She is very sad because she had a field trip to the zoo today. :sad1: I told her I'll take her another time and we can stay all day. Its a different zoo than the one I have an annual membership with so I'll have to see when I can budget it.

So sorry to hear about all the sick kidlets. The sickies are definitely hitting big time. My phone has been ringing off the hook every morning this week with subing jobs. Unfortunately I had other plans so couldn't work again this week. While I don't wish illness on anyone, I hope I get some more calls next week so I can work! But, while I have had my flu shot, DD10 hasn't so I am afraid that I will end up home with her in the near future.

Poor Zoe, missing the zoo trip. Big  to her.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will try to catch up but feel like I walked into a movie that is half over. :)
This movie has only just begun for most of us;) Just jump in here and let us know how you are doing and what successes and challenges you are having and provide :cheer2: if you would like. :goodvibes

Afternoon Donalds! Posted a little loss this week - I'm not surprised as haven't done as much cardio as in past weeks. Our class did pilates this week and while it is a workout and strengthens the core, it doesn't burn as many calories. Because I was traveling, I wasn't able to get to spinning class. I did the treadmill yesterday at the hotel, and went to a pilates class this afternoon. Tomorrow morning, we do indy-row - which is a simulated rowing. I have never done it before, but I guess it feels like you are really rowing in water.

Happy Friday!

lovetoscrap- Thanks! She actually has been diagnosed with walking pneumonia but the doctor said we could still go away this weekend but she needs to take frequent breaks and drink lots of water. She's been ok this afternoon. Didn't eat enough when she had the amoxycillin so she got sick but has been eating saltines and drinking ginger ale all afternoon. We've watched TS3, Monsters Inc and now we're watching Wall-E! Sick days here = Pixar movie days!

DD1 and DH will go to DD1s basketball game tonight and i will get DD2 to bed early so she can be well rested for tomorrow! I thought she would nap this afternoon but no such luck.

Finally got a shower in! DH is picking up dinner on the way home! I've earned my Chinese food this week!

Wow, I've missed a lot over the last few weeks as I have been studiously avoiding this thread...and today's weigh-in shows that I haven't been paying attention: 3 pound gain, which brings me to my highest weight EVER. Not a good thing, but it did get my attention. I hope to be a help to my team, not a dead weight around the stats!

My loss for this week is 3.5 pounds. Yeah! Beginning to move in the right direction. Salads to go with lunch and dinner almost every day - and low carb.

Is it a bad thing when I negotiate my exercise time with my allowed time to play angry birds? 1 min exercise for 1 min birds...

I shall weigh in tomorrow morning as I worked this morning and forgot to weigh until after dinner and my days water intake :)

Sorry about the pain from your arm. Hopefully it will be better soon. Can you possibly explain to your Dr. about the arm issue and see if they will just do ultrasound next time?

Nope, never too late to start and it's not half over....for some, like me, it's a new start almost weekly! Welcome to the party!

Glad the fairies were good to you! Every one is one less to lose, and every one is a cause to celebrate ----but NOT with food!!

Any loss is good! Let us know how the rowing is. Never heard of it! And great job for doing treadmill in hotel! Dedication!!!!!

Hang in there! I've been struggling, too. We CAN do this.....together!! We're all here for each other.

AWESOME loss! Congrats!!

I just downloaded Angry Birds, but haven't tried it as my son says it is very addictive. Maybe I should delete it? Nah.......

Have a great weekend! And motivation to exercise, is motivation!!

Today has been a hard day, but an ok day. DS25 needs at least a root canal, seeing Dentist Monday afternoon. At worst, loses tooth, bridge, etc. Praying for the root canal as he has NO money, so it's on me for the moment. And, he still needs 10 - 14 fillings, and to have a cyst removed. And he still claims that it's not due to his lifestyle.....right!

Managed to get in 4.65 miles with the husky, then another 2.32 with the husky and yorkies. The little ones are totally CRASHED tonight. YEAH!!!!

I have been faithful since Sunday in recording on my Bugg and points. With points, I have 41 left for tomorrow (including the extra points, but not counting any activity points I've earned) so I don't feel too bad about week one getting back on track. Baby steps.

I might not be on until afternoon EST, as DD19's fiancee stays here on weekends & sleeps in the 'office' where my computer is.

So, QOTD for 1/12-Are there foods you can 't or won't deny yourself in order to make a healthier choice? Why are they important & how do you feel about giving them up?

Tough one for me. I would have to say chocolate, in some form. Plain, milk chocolate. I can't stand dark chocolate which is healthier. But, I try to opt for 'better' chocolate choices, if that's even possible.....like my vitatops. Sugar is a big issue with me, but I'm trying to break it as each of my siblings became diabetic at 48....and I"m 50. :scared1: And my healthiest, thinnest, former marathon runner brother is the worst off! But, he couldn't resist donuts even after he was diagnosed. I truly didn't know there was any real breakfast food before High school....breakfast was donuts, pie, cake, cookies....and eggs were dinner!

Have a great rest of the evening and a good tomorrow! Night all!

the pain which sent me to the Dr in the first place (not the pain in my shoulder) is in my armpit so after about 5 images the radiologist wanted to do an ultrasound but unfortunately I had to leave to get the kids. So I need to make a new appointment after I talk to my Dr again.

swinging by to say hey. Today was not a stellar day but tomorrow is a new day.
Gotta remember to weigh in tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

So, QOTD for 1/12-Are there foods you can 't or won't deny yourself in order to make a healthier choice? Why are they important & how do you feel about giving them up?

Wow, what a great question. When you put it that way, I feel silly naming some foods I won't give up. Why am I still eating them??? I'm going to have to start asking myself this. And, thinking more about what would be a similar taste and experience but healthier for me.

I guess overall, I do not like to feel deprived. I still like to make meals the rest of the family likes and then I try to eat a smaller portion. If I'm eating with friends, I don't want to feel left out, etc.

I haven't given up any foods so far but there are some junky things I really should give up for good such as chips and processed food cookies.

My weight loss is very slow because I don't deprive myself much at all! It's really slowed way down lately and it's time to start taking a hard look at what I'm eating.

So sorry to hear of your son's troubles with his root canal and hope it all works out OK for him and for your pocketbook!

I've also heard Angry Birds is very addictive!

Interesting question. I have only been at this for a few weeks, but I am trying to approach it as a life change with everything in moderation.

A few things that come to mind are things I won't "deny myself" or swap out. For example, I can't stand the tase of fat free cheese or sour cream. I will eat reduced fat cheese though. Sour cream I only like regular (full fat) and I would sooner pass on it completely or work a smaller amount into my calorie count to enjoy my meal.

Sorry to hear about your son. Sounds like you are doing great with your exercise!!!!

Good Saturday morning everyone. I slept in until 7 this morning and it felt great. I spent last night at the local high school sorting costumes and getting ready for their show in a few weeks. We still need lots of PD to get the theater done. It was ripped apart a year ago and they finally got the last electrical inspection this week. They started working on the walls this week but the accoustical tiles had to be taken down since they weren't flame retardent. The walls need to be finished, the floor needs to be put down and the seats need to be installed all before March 2nd.:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Then there is the problem of the curtains. They bought a new front curtain because the old one ripped a couple of years ago. The back and side ones were taken down last year and put into storage. BUT the person who arranged the storage was not rehired as director and he is holding them hostage. ALong with all the stuff that was in the stock room and alll the costumes and props from last years show. It may have to go to lawyers before it is alll over. He was not rehired because of complaints from the parents. He could be very nasty and vulger with his comments.

If something like a mammo happened to check out a guy for prostrate cancer the procedure would be changed almost immediately. Sorry to hear about your arm and that you may have to go back. This also reminds me that I have to schedule my annual mammo.

I agree with you about the food. Life would be so dull if you limited yourself to nothing you really like.

I agree about th fat free cheese and sour cream. I don't mind lower fat sour cream but I too would also like to have smaller amounts than to have to cut it our completely.

Did everyone send in their weights to tigger813 and HH points to cclovesdis. Don't forget to include the team name in the subjecct area.

I am down a pound from last week. I am down a lot more from the beginning of the week but only 1 pound from the last weigh in. I will take it. Now need to keep on.

Well nothing is planned for today so I am off to get some cleaning done.

Have a happy and healthy day.

So, QOTD for 1/12-Are there foods you can 't or won't deny yourself in order to make a healthier choice? Why are they important & how do you feel about giving them up?
I feel that anything in moderation is the key for me making this a lifestyle that I can live with, but a big trigger food for me is chocolate, and sweets. I do try to make better choices, and may pick up a pack of 3 lindt chocolate truffles, or one candy bar, but try not to buy the whole bag of dove chocolate because I know myself and I do not have the control all the time that I need to eat just one. Why is chocolate and sweets so important, I guess could go back to yesterdays question, and it's definitely an emotional thing. It is definitely an emotional attachment I have to chocolate and other special desserts, but there is also probably some type of addictive quality too. A friend of mine goes to Overeaters Anonymous and has kept her weight off for years by not eating any sugar or white flours, and she knows if she had one bite she wouldn't stop. I don't think I could do that, so I'm still plugging away, slowly losing with the occassional backslide. So I guess I don't want to give them up, but when I'm ON, I'll buy some ff choc pudding, or granola bars with choc chips, something less caloric with a little more nutrition. I did buy the cocoa flavored roasted almonds and they are very good.

Great question, Julie. Really got me thinking this morning. Hugs to you and ds on his tooth. I know you've had such a tough time with him, and I'm sure he's in pain, and the financial burden is so hard on you all.

Shawn- Hope your tooth is feeling better today. How was the experience overall in Germany for you? I know you were worried.

Buffy- Sorry to hear about your shoulder pain, and the accident you all were in. That must have been so tough, and to still have to live with the effects from it.

Congrats to all who have posted losses this week!!:banana::banana:

Hugs to all who may have gained or not been happy with your loss. It's can be slow but don't give up. Every little change we make will add up and can make a difference.

Lots of illness going around too. Pixie dust for speedy recoveries to everyone and their families who are feeling under the weather this week.

I'm actually happy to report a loss this week. I weighed yesterday at 202.6, and didn't really believe it, so I waited til today and I'm at 202.8, and I double checked on the wii fit, and it's a real loss. That's 3.2 which is unheard of for me in a week. I have been really strict this week, and stayed within my ww points for the week, and didn't have any junk, so I am thrilled. After a small gain last week, I was thinking I wouldn't be anywhere near ONE-derland before my trip on the 23rd, but now I know it's possible, so going to stay focused and try my hardest.

Have a great saturday everyone!! No snow here, so I'm a happy camper.:)
