TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Busy week here hauling kids so DH can have a car instead of riding his cycle in single digit temps. Sun, Mon, Tues good....OP, Wed, not so good, but I still had a small calorie deficit, so getting better.

I start coaching tomorrow, but wanted to warn everyone that I am in NM, and 2 hours behind most of you. When you are up & posting it's still like 4 a.m. here!

I still haven't gotten my 'office' uncluttered, but am working on it. Managed to get almost 5 miles with Sashi in on Tuesday and If the wind dies down, I will get out again today....I hope!

Despite my best intentions I have been MIA for a bit. I've been here, just devolved into lurking again for a bit. :confused3 But I'm trying to do better - really!!!

Had 2 great boot camp classes this week. Yesterday was our "100s" day: 100 mountain climbers, 100 jumping jacks, 100 squat thrusts, 100 push ups, 100 full sit ups and 100 sec sprints. I start hating it by the time I am on the second rotation (we do 5 rotations of 20 sets of each) but I always feel so happy with myself when I finish! Today was alot of relay racing - sprints, crab walks, frog hops, topped off by a 5K run. It was a great way to start off the day...

I missed a few of the QOTD but here is what I can remember:
Favorite rides:
MK: Carousel of Progress
Epcot: Soaring
Animal Kingdom: does the path to the Big Tree count? I love stopping and talking to the kids with the creepy crawlies - but my family is always ready to kill me because I am keeping them from getting on Everest as soon as possible!
MGM (sorry, it will always be MGM to me!): TSM/ Rockin' Rollercoaster (tie)

As for a diet, I'm trying to "eat healthy" and working on getting rid of some of my bad habits - too much diet soda, not enough water, too much grazing.

Hi Everyone, I am your new teammate. I need to focus on lossing weight. I gained 25 pounds in the last 14 months. I want to take the weight off for health reasons, to feel better about myself, and to run a marathon at my full potential.

Yes I am a runner and have had a goal to qualify for the Boston Marathon for the last 5-6 years now. Lots of ups and downs along the way.

I live in Rock Hill, South Carolina. That is just across the line from Charlotte, NC. We are only an eight hour drive from WDW :)

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!!!

David

Welcome!!! :goodvibes Sooo impressed with your Boston goal!!!!

NSV

I just put on size 16 jeans that I haven't worn since I had DD. And I did NOT have to lay down to zip them up or unzip them to sit down to type this!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Isn't that a terrific feeling???!!!! Yay, you!!!! ..dreaming of the day I am back in my "skinny" jeans... (anyone else carting around a pair of jeans from 1998???)

DH is officially back to work today! I never would have imagined he would be back this soon. If you had talked to me in late November, I would have said that this would be nothing short of a miracle! Thanks to all of you who prayed so hard for us after his accident. I know that the Disboard frowns on "bible talk", but I must say..... GOD is good!

By Sunday night I probably will have driven about 10 hours (swim meets all weekend). Gotta remember to grab a seat cushion for my butt!! One downside to losing 90 pounds is I no longer have any natural cushioning to sit on! :rotfl:

P

So happy for you and DH!!!

Holy cow - 90 lbs!!!! :worship::worship::worship::worship:

Eight more days til our Daytona/WDW trip and the Princess Half Marathon!!!:yay::yay:

Welcome to Healthy Habits!

My name is CC (short for Christina) and I will be your Healthy Habits coach for BL 11. I love the BL challenges and Healthy Habits has helped me significantly in achieving many of my goals.

Some Background Information: Thanks to donac (Dona-hostess of Team Donald) and jenanderson for their amazing help so I know how to coach! I couldn’t do this without seeing them in action previously. I will be continuing the prizes that Jen started.

Here’s How Healthy Habits Works: Each week there will be 3 Healthy Habits (HH) to complete. The first two HHs will always be drinking water and exercising. (Note: The amount and time will increase throughout the challenge!) At the end of each week, you will tally up the number of points you earned for the week and send me a private message with your total. Here’s an example. For Week 1, the 3 HHs are drink Six 8 oz. glasses of water a day, exercise a minimum of 20 minutes per day, and eat at least 3 servings of vegetables a day. If on 4 days you get in all 3 HHs, you would report your points like this:

4/6 days of drinking water
4/6 days of exercising
4/6 days of eating veggies

Your total points (ex: 12/18) AND your team name should be in the subject of your PM.

This is a team competition. On/about Tuesday evening, I will post the week’s results. I will share the number of participants on each team and the top scorers on each team. New for BL 11: I will also list the people who earned 7/7 on one or more of the HHs for the week. If you participated on the team with the most participants, you will be entered into a drawing for the week's prize. Each prize will have something to do with the 3rd Healthy Habit for the week. I will post the winner and ask that you PM me your contact information. (Please Note: If you do not wish to be entered into the drawing, please let me know in your PM. I understand people’s WISHes for privacy.)

Participation in Healthy Habits is entirely optional, but I encourage you to participate and help your team be on top for the week. Good luck on your journey and I hope that HHs helps you as much as it continues to help me!

Welcome to Health Habits Week 7

Week 6 is 2/4-2/10.

This week's 3 Healthy Habits are:
1) Drink Eight 8 oz. glasses of water.
2) Exercise a minimum of 25 minutes a day.
3) Journal you food.

At the end of the week, please PM me your points. I will post the results on/about Tuesday. Don't forget, this is a team competition!

Remember, every participant counts, regardless of the number of points you earn!

If you have any questions, please free to ask!

P.S. Week 5 Results will be posted over the weekend. I apologize. I haven't been feeling well and have had lots to do at work. I appreciate your understanding. :goodvibes

Getting a jump-start on the East Coast morning people......

I have been reading the book "Made to Crave" by Lysa Terkeurst this week in trying to get my focus back on track. While it is written from a Christian perspective, what I have read so far can be applied regardless of beliefs - and for it to have made the NY Times Bestseller lists, I think attests to that.

That being said (and not being good at coming up with my own questions) I kept returning to some of the questions I keep re-pondering (if that is a word) from what I have read, and have changed them up a bit. Feel free to share your thoughts here, or just ponder them. If anyone prefers me not to use these, feel free to let me know, and I'll try to come up with something else.;)

So, QOTD for 1/11 - Consider your eating experiences in the past. Have you turned to food for :comfort, reward, joy, stress, sadness, happiness, etc? How would things have been different if you had not turned to food?"

This is a MAJOR one for me! I turn to food for all of the above....and you need to add, loneliness, companionship, boredom and probably a whole lot more. I think I always have, and much of the reason goes WAY back, and WAY deep. But, thinking consciously about it has really helped. If I didn't turn to food, I would have a MUCH easier time staying on track, probably weigh a LOT less, and in truth, probably be a much more content person. I think alcoholics and drug addicts try, at least sometimes, to find love in their lives in their 'drug' of choice. I really think mine is food!

Catch you all sometime mid-morning on the East Coast - By the time I get everyone out of here, it will likely be after 10 your time. Night all!

Good morning Donalds:goodvibes

I am just posting quickly to say ................I got my 25 pound clippie!!!

FINALLY a nice little chunk of weight fell off of me and I've officially lost 26.2:banana:

I'm off to have the 2nd part of my partial crown done today and then I'll have time this afternoon to catch up here. I haven't been on since Monday:scared1:

Pamela, I will add to your statement (God is good)............all the time!

Later,
Shawnprincess:

Good Friday morning Team Donald.

I am so glad that I made it to Friday. I have a follow up my class from last Friday but I have to go and write up my lesson plans for today. We are planning to meet very early so that we can get out early.

COngrats Setting Sail on the new milestone.

jbm02 welcome back Just jump right in.

The weekly HH is for this week. The date is wrong. Notice that #3 is to journal your food. We can do this. We had practice a couple of weeks ago.

Just wanted to stop by and say hello.

I am sorry that I forgot to post a QOTD on Thursday. It completely skipped my mind.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Eight more days til our Daytona/WDW trip and the Princess Half Marathon!!!:yay::yay:
:cool1:So exciting!!! I heard no major snow expected for the next 10 days so you should get out fine!! I have 12 days left!!!!

So, QOTD for 1/11 - Consider your eating experiences in the past. Have you turned to food for :comfort, reward, joy, stress, sadness, happiness, etc? How would things have been different if you had not turned to food?"

This so so me too, Julie. I definitely have turned to food for joy, sadness, and boredom the most, but pretty much most emotions I can think of have been reason for me to eat. I wonder if I never had used emotions as a reason to eat if I never would have had a weight problem. I still struggle to only eat when I am hungry, and even though I'm trying really hard, definitely eat more when I am bored, or sad, and I may be eating fruit or roasted vegies most of the time now at those times, but I am still eating not for hunger only like I should be. DS has gotten into the snacking in front of the tv habit again, and we are working on stopping that again. I'll start with the best intentions of only eating at the table, and we definitely do that with meals, but the snacking we've gotten lax about.

Thanks for coaching Julie. Great question.:flower3:

Thank you Dona for coaching last week.:flower3:

Shawn- Whoo hoo!! Glad you saw that scale moving again!!! Congrats on 26 pounds!!!!

:welcome:yrdlyprincess and Dave!! Great to have you here, and I'm sure you will find lots of inspiration and support here.

I'll be back later to catch up more. Have a great friday!!:)

Weighed in at WW last nite and lost 3 pounds! Also got my 5% star. I am very excited. I still have a lot of weight to lose but I feel like I am off to a great start. And my DH gave me my Valentine's card early with a gift certificate to get my nails done...which was to be my "reward" for losing the 20 pounds. I am a liitle behind on the QOTD. My favorite ride is Rockn Roller Coaster. I have been known to eat for any reason at all....sad, happy, angry, etc. What I have done lately is tell myself "No Choice" you have to stick to the plan. So often we think, it is my choice to eat or not eat something and I have found that if I tell myself "No Choice" it helps me resist.

Pam- Great news about DH going back to work! Glad he has recovered so well!!!!
GOD IS GOOD!

Don't forget to PM me your weigh ins by MOnday night! Also PLEASE include your team name in the title to help me out!!!

I may be around more that I thought this weekend! Izzie has a horrible cough and fever and I think she could possibly have pneumonia. Complaining about her chest when she coughs!

I just can't win!

Time to call the doctor and my boss!

TTFN :tigger:

Back from the dentist this morning and in soooooo much pain! My partial crown is in place and hopefully it will all be back to normal soon.

Dona - Thank you so much for coaching this week:thumbsup2 You do so much to keep us on track, in addition to everything you have going on IRL:worship:

Lisa H - Congrats on 2 more pounds gone:cool1: You are having such a great challenge!

Christine - hope you and the kids are feeling better today:goodvibes

Kathy - Congrats on seeing 205!!!!!!!:cool1::cool1:

Buffy - Way to go, getting into your size 16 jeans:thumbsup2 with your rounder butt:rotfl2: Not sure if you got your question answered about 30 DS......when you are down on the floor doing your pushups, they will count them down and then tell you when to get back up:goodvibes

Melissa - thanks for the tip on My Fitness Pal......I ahven't signed up yet but I might just do that. I am not really big on counting calories, journaling, etc. In fact it's a big trigger for me to actually feel MORE like quitting in frustruation. I may ease into it with something llike tracking one day a week, then building up to two, etc. I was a little sad when you reported you do the girl push ups like me. When you first posted you could do all the push ups and they were getting easier, I was soooooo impressed and jealous:goodvibes

Rose - thank you for your encouragement, I really needed it earlier this week:goodvibes

Jessi - for your WI at WW. You are doing the right thing to jump back in there and face the music before things get any worse. I know it's not easy and I've been there myself many many times:goodvibes

Shannon - Your cruise sounds wonderful:love: I am so jealous. I hope you will do a trip report, however brief, when you get back!

Pamela - WTG, getting through a WHOLE bottle of vitamins! I don't think I've ever heard you say before you've lost ***90*** pounds! Holy Cow! I think I will pay even more attention next time you are handing out advice! This lady KNOWS what she's talking about! It's so wonderful that your DH has recovered to the point where he can return to work! He must be so excited!

LTS - Good luck getting your tummy issues figured out, sounds like no fun:sick:

Jude - Your boot camps sound amazing! Can't believe a person can do all those and do them 5 times ???!!!!:worship: I would be really proud of myself too! And, LOL on the jeans from 1998!

Elizabeth - :bday:

David and yrdlyprincess - :welcome: We are SO glad you joined us! David, my DH lived in Rock Hill when he was a student at UNCC (many many years ago!)

Karliebug - Congrats on your 5% star from WW !!!

QOTD: I have turned to food for ALL of those reasons! My life would be so much better now if I had learned different coping mechanisms and stayed away from so much food. Still had some treats but in moderation and indulge only for rare special occasions. I try not to kick myself too much today for mistakes made in the past, but just to keep moving forward.

I have had a great week. After posting here on Monday that I was feeling really discouraged, I had a total pity party for myself on Tuesday. I did no exercise and over ate. I didn't go hog wild but I did eat much more than I normally do. I was a little encouraged on Weds when I didn't gain any weight from the day before and I have worked hard since Weds. I'm still not ready to commit to any "diet" plan or even to track my daily calories. I've decided for now to continue to follow my very slow plan of trying to eat less and eat better foods. Boy, it sure is slow though. But I feel totally comfortable that it is something I can stick with the rest of my life.

I made 2 great food swaps this week, first at Subway I had a chicken marinara instead of my usual meatball marinara (I don't get cheese on either), saving 170 calories and then last night instead of ground beef in my tacos, I used about a tbls of ground beef on each and then added black beans too --so satisfying!

Planning to stay on the couch all afternoon nursing my sore mouth! I may wait to send my WI until tomorrow morning, getting greedy to see if I can add any more to my total loss since I know I won't be eating much today.

Have a great day Donalds!

So, QOTD for 1/11 - Consider your eating experiences in the past. Have you turned to food for :comfort, reward, joy, stress, sadness, happiness, etc? How would things have been different if you had not turned to food?"

In the past I have turned to food for all of these reasons. I ate from boredom, frustration, lonliness. Food always seems like the friend that was lacking in my life. Once I start I can't stop.

When my mom died I was at my all time heaviest. I looked aweful, I felt even worse.

And of course, growing up in an Italian household, every happy occassion was celebrated with food.....large amounts of food..... I grew up believing that food is love.

I have to learn to love myself more than the food.

Anyway, I got on the scale this morning & I am down 2lbs more!! 10lbs total:cool1:

All 3 kids are still home sick but feeling much better, just following the 24 hour symptom free/fever free rule at this point. Good news is that Hubby is off today, so I will leave my sick house & celebrate my weight loss with a nice long walk with the dog today!

Have a great day Donalds!

Good morning TEAM DONALD!

Thanks for coaching this week, Julie! :flower3:

Pamela, so happy to hear that your DH got to go back to work! :flower3:

Melissa, no matter what the scale shows this week you know that you are working hard and it will pay off for you! :thumbsup2

LTS, glad that your stomach is feeling better! :flower3:

I turned to food a lot for stress, boredom and habit. I'm pretty good about putting off things until later or thinking I "deserve" them. I am much better about listening to myself and asking "what is going on here? Am I really hungry? Am I bored? Am I tired?" Most of the it is something else going on and I can take care of it. There is much less mindless eating going on in my life. But it takes awhile to get to that point. I think of what my friend, Worfiedoodles says "Food is fuel, not friend!" :goodvibes

I am just posting quickly to say ................I got my 25 pound clippie!!!

Woo hoo, Shawn! :woohoo: Way to go on the 25 lb clippie! :yay: Hope the tooth feels better soon! :flower3:

:cool1:So exciting!!! I heard no major snow expected for the next 10 days so you should get out fine!! I have 12 days left!!!!

Almost time to start doing the weather dance so you can get out of the airport with no delays! :cool1:

Great job on the loss and glad that everyone in your house is feeling better. :goodvibes

My 2 pound loss that had been showing earlier this week left me so I am a samer. I'm okay with that as I bet it will show up and stay next week. :cool2:

Have a great day DONALDS! :donald:

5%!! That's a really good start, and your DH is so sweet to 'reward' you early....and NOT with food!!

I may be around more that I thought this weekend! Izzie has a horrible cough and fever and I think she could possibly have pneumonia. Complaining about her chest when she coughs!

Kudos on the swap at Subway! Black beans on tacos are always good, too! I use only the ground boca meat in tacos, spaghetti, chili, etc & no one here even knows about it. It's really good! Hope your mouth feels better soon!

I think that is the key. We have to learn to love ourselves & believe we are worth doing this for. But it is HARD! Hope the kids completely recover soon! Enjoy your walk!

Good morning TEAM DONALD!

Food is FUEL! Hard to remember, yet hard to forget sometimes! I'm with you on the 'samer' stuff. Someday my scale will move again.......

Good morning, All!

Going to be another 'fun' day here. DS25 woke up with left jaw pain, swollen, etc. And he is a BIG, BIG, BIG Baby! Of course, our dentist is closed til Monday. Got him in to his primary at 3 p.m. Whatever it is, it won't be easy.....this is my 'problem' child(drugs, alcohol, smoking, etc)....source of my stress......Must stay strong and not eat!! And it means he will likely not go to work Saturday, Sunday or Monday nights unless the Dr. can figure it out & it's not dental.

My life is constantly one thing after another! Sigh...........

Hoping to get in a long walk with Sashi today, but not sure now with this pending as he can't go to Dr. alone and I have to wait til the weather warms up a bit.

I'll be back when I can. Hope everyone is having a good Weigh in and Day! I'm a maintainer.....again!

Quick stop in to say I lost another 1.6 lbs. :yay:

I have a sick little girl to take to the Dr in a few minutes. So I'll come back later if I get a chance. She didn't get good rest last night up every couple hours. She is very sad because she had a field trip to the zoo today. :sad1: I told her I'll take her another time and we can stay all day. Its a different zoo than the one I have an annual membership with so I'll have to see when I can budget it.

Sorry Zoe is sick! Poor girl!

Check with the zoo. Most have reduced or even free rates if you have a membership with another zoo. Sounds like nap time at your house today!

Congrats on the loss!

I just wanted to stop in to say that I got that quote "Food is Fuel, Not a Friend" from Wendy, another WISHer who paraphrased it from "Finding Nemo" -- Fish are Friends, Not Food...

Maria :upsidedow

I also picked up Bob Harper's kettle bell and DVD today.
Does anyone else have that one? I got the 7 pound because while I could lift the 10 pound I thought it might be to much to start.

Hi just checking in with you for an update. Did you get a chance to try it out yet? Do you like it?

I really like mine I have only done the workout two times because I had to take a break for two days because my legs were SO sore! I did notice the second time it was easier and I could do more so that was awesome! I really love it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I will have to get another workout dvd so I can do different workouts instead of the same one every time.

Long lost team member, stopping in for a quick visit! Sorry I've been remiss...I'll try to do better participating!

I missed the QOTD about favorite rides and just had to comment. TSM, tie between TT & Soarin', EE, and for MK I'd have a tough time choosing between POTC and BTMR. Let's face it...I love most of them!

Hi Everyone, I am your new teammate.

David

Welcome to the party, David! :welcome:

NSV

I just put on size 16 jeans that I haven't worn since I had DD. And I did NOT have to lay down to zip them up or unzip them to sit down to type this!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Congrats on the milestone! Doesn't it feel good when you notice your hard work paying off?! (and not just on the scale!)

Hello Team Donald! Just signing up...I am a loser for sure (hehe)

All of the above! That's how I got here...turning to food for everything! I'd like to think I would be here as a maintainer rather than a loser if I hadn't turned to food so often over the years!

Good morning Donalds:goodvibes

I am just posting quickly to say ................I got my 25 pound clippie!!!
