TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

I guess Western medicine issues even extend into our pet care!! Glad you had the foresight to start treatment on your own. ...........P

Yep-- he's doing fine now, eating with some difficulty, but like I said we're just going to have to make sure he has his share soft food every day.

Yes! I got mine on Saturday. I got the ten lb bell. I just tried it out yesterday for the first time. Check out my post on the previous page, my quads are killing me today, you will see what I mean when you start doing swings! I am going to have to take today off for any leg stuff.

Thanks for the info Stacy. I think I made a good choice with the 7 pound. Eventually I'll move up but I think it will be a good start.

I'm going to pop the video in after I pick up the last kid and check it out.

Congrats Buffy!! Way to go!!

QOTD - Splash, Kali Rapids, ToT, Soarin'

Trying to figure out exercise this week as schedules are insane. Had a great experience Sunday afternoon when swimming my laps - I got in the zone and felt like I could have swam all afternoon. It was a great feeling.

Hope everyone is holding up after the post-superbowl eating. I have to head to Green Bay next week for work....should be interesting as I'm sure the celebrating is still going on :)

Yup I did the same thing between the ten and fifteen lb bell. I'm so glad I went with the ten over the fifteen because WOW it's difficult, once I get the hang of it I will move up but the ten is more than enough for now . You will be happy with your decision! I also watched the video before I did it. :thumbsup2

Ouch! I just did 30 Day Shred for hte first time and let me just say, I totally get the "hate jillian and her happy little friends" comment I read a couple of weeks ago.

I'm very proud to see myself on the top 10 list! My eating for the past 3 days has been just ok, I think because I didn't journal. I picked up 30DS yesterday and I put it on. Honestly, I put it on thinking, it will be hard but I go to the gym on a fairly regular basis, it won't be that bad on level 1. Boy was I wrong! First, I am so bad at push ups and that's what it started with. I took one break for about 2 seconds during the second have of the cardio on the first circuit. I got to the second circuit and I was thinking I wouldn't make it. I took two, 2-3 second breaks. I couldn't stop noticing that the girls were were smiling through. I couldn't believe how sweaty I was and there they were super happy and smiley. Sooooo annoying! The 3rd circuit, I was so determined and it felt a little easier. I got through it but now that I'm done, my body is so shakey! I am planning to do this about 4 days a week in addition to about 3 days per week at the gym. I'll journal tomorrow which will get me back on track with eating.
I do 30DS 3 days a week. I was in shock with jumping jacks. Now I have the stamina to do them all. Push ups were hard for me but in a couple weeks I could do quite a few without stopping.

OMG!!!!! I am shocked!!! Holy guacamole (low fat of course, LOL) !!!

WOOHOO!!!!!!
After being sick and feeling off track this is exactly what I needed! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
:woohoo::cheer2: Way to go!

Stacy,
I concentrate on about 55-65 grams of fat a day. MyFitnessPal gives me 55 with my base calories of 1660 but when I exercise it adds calories and increases fat. Today with my exercise it is at 71 grams with 2164 calories as a target because I earned 504 calories exercising. I personally concentrate on quality of the fat. I avoid bad fats for good ones like olive oil, avocado, omega 3 riches ones like the ones in my Smart Balance peanut butter. Its a free tracking site and very quick and easy. I wouldn't really go under 30-40. Your body needs it.

Lisa,
Wow 10 miles. That is impressive. I can't wait to get closer to 250 so I can feel safe to take up running again. I have the same problem with Leslie sometimes. I get tired of hearing the same thing over and over. I'm thinking of mixing up a playlist to play over it but I'm afraid I'll get off track. it helps that I do it 2 times a week only. I enjoy the lower impact when I've had a strong day the day before.

Shawn,
2400 calories will give you a burn? That does sounds high. I get 1660 for a 2 lb a week loss when I exercise it goes up to 2100-2200 sometimes. Definitely try tracking. I really love MyFitnessPal.com its quick and easy and free. I have not had any trouble finding the foods and brands I have been eating. It is easy to under calculate calories if you try it in your head. Check it out and I'm sure you'll be as hooked as I am. ;) If you have an iphone, android or blackberry(in beta testing) you can get apps to track without pc. I'm loving that it does all the math for me. Just put in the fitness profile accurately. I keep my level at sedentary. It will figure your calories on that number(BMR) it calculates your age height and weight into the factors.
Some people eating low calorie and working out as much as your 40 minutes a day will see stalls because they have switched to famine mode because body thinks its starving. If you've been eating lower try eating 2000 and see how it goes.

50sJayne,
Poor kitty! glad kitty is doing better. Its sad when vets only see $$$ shop around to another one. My best friend ha a great vet that is not all about putting them to sleep. Soft food will help him stay hydrated. Glad you are doing what you can.

QOTD:
What is your favorite ride at DW? If you can't pick one then try to pick one from each park.

I've always felt that Space Mountain is my favorite. Now that I'm older I'm feeling like I enjoy shows more than anything. At animal kingdom I loved the Lion King show more than any rides.

Well Zoe is doing okay after hearing about the accident and what happened. I later found out that her reaction of drinking and driving when we discussed some things likes speeding and texting that cause some of the things like that. She says or drinking and driving but she was probably right. They news reports there were several open alcohol in the card that caused it. Both men were ejected from the car and it was only one man that died. It was SOOO violent it threw the engine out of the car several hundred feet and hit car in the parking lot. The flipped a Hyundai Santa Fe. That driver was in critical condition but expected to make it. I had a boss that killed his best friend in this manner. It didn't say if it was the driver or the passenger that was dead on arrival. It happend just before 11am. I hate to hear when people are drinking and driving at 11am no less. it was good to hear that the person he hit is going to be okay.

Thanks so much Pamela, very good advice. The bolded part is very depressing for me, it's so hard to think I did this to myself. If only I had been more careful and watched the weight closer years ago. Now I know that I could have done many little things to atleast just maintain my weight way back when. But, I'm not going to let that hold me back....all I can do is keep trying today!

Shawnprincess:
Shawn-- I have beaten myself up with the same thoughts more times than I would like to admit. And it made me so sad that I treated myself so poorly--still does sometimes. I'm so glad to see that you aren't going to let it hold you back. All that you can do each day is the best that you can do. Just keep swimming.:goodvibes

popping back in to say hey.

I sent DH a copy of the list for the top ten, he was stoked!! Looks like he's gonna get his hot legged wife back, cause I did really have hot legs when we got married. LOL
Can you believe I'm looking forward to this weeks weigh in. I think I'm turning unto a fitness freak! LOL
:goodvibes Exercise is so addictive--and what a good place to be at to be looking forward to a weigh-in!

Hello Donalds! I don't get over here as often as I would like. Things are slow tonight and I am avoiding doing some cleaning by checking in on you all.:goodvibes Hope everyone is doing great!

Ugh. I am so ready to be done with work. I'm pretty sure the behavior interventionist does not like me that much. I feel like he is always talking down to me and blames me for when kids blow. This was pretty much confirmed today when I was talking to an outside consultant about supporting a student of mine who has been in a psychiatric hospital and will be starting back with me soon. He said (in front of me) that the kid blows becaues he hates me. Um...no. He blows because he doesn't like being told what to do and will blow at anybody in authority which happens to be me most of the time.

I'm tired of the politics. My eating habits have not been the best. I have felt like crap this week with what has been going on that I mentioned earlier in the thread. I'm going to WW tomorrow, staying for the getting started and getting back on track. I did see the doctor today. He drew some blood to check for iron and I have to come back for some tests next week. He did say something about the NSAIDs like somebody else mentioned up thread. He also gave me some samples of a new med to try, but said it's expensive so try the NSAIDs first.

Jumping on to say HI!
Got up early this morning to do workout #2 on the NFL EA Active Wii Game. Definitely much tougher than WiiFit, and so far its fun, but the sore butt muscles afterwards are not!

DH & I have been getting trip plans finalized for this spring. Got the hotel booked for a couple days in DL before going on the LA to Vancouver repo cruise. So far DH&I are planning to do Alcatraz on our own (leaving our girls with inlaws on the ship). No specific plans for the stop in Victoria. It is the capital city of our home province and we've been there lots, so just planning to get off the ship and go for a walk around the touristy shopping area. For Alaska portion we had planned to do a couple excursions until it was time to book them and we found out the ones we were interested in aren't available on our cruise. So we'll save money there :goodvibes

Lisa/Kathy - I'm so impressed with how well you are doing with the running :worship:

I'm out of time so I'm getting off the thread.

Congrats Buffy & all the losers!:thumbsup2

Good morning Team Donald

I finally have a quiet day. I didn't have my last meeting last night so I got some quiet time and got to watch BL.

Today I just have paperwork to get accomplished. I am almost done with my grades. I just want to update some things before I turn them in.

This afternoon I plan to get some meatballs and sausage started and then a workout. Ds set up the dvd player so that I can see it on a big screen. Now I can see it across the room when I use my exercise bike.

It was pretty quiet here yesterday. Where is everyone?

Tuesday's QOTD I love TTA, Dumbo HM and PoC, Spaceship Earth, Soaring, Safari and Toy Story Mania

Question of the Day

Do you stick to the same diet all the time or do you vary?

Last time I lost weight I went with counting calories but this time I am trying some low carb.

Will check in later.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Question of the Day

Do you stick to the same diet all the time or do you vary?

I have done WW many times in the past. This time I am counting calories. I am also focusing on high fiber whole foods & trying to stay away from processed foods.

Good morning Donalds.

Yesterday, I repeated level 1 of 30DS. It was slightly easier. Today my arms and legs are sore.

Zoesmama - do you do "real" push ups or "girl" push ups? I currently do girl but I'm thinking when the work out feels a little easier, I will try to move to the normal ones.

I do girl push ups or I did on level 1. Level 2 they don't do them like that. We do walk out push ups where we start from standing bend over walking our hands out and push up once. But I follow the modified version of just pausing at plank for a beat and going back up. I'd lose my momentum if I did the push up and then back up to start again. I'm thinking of doing girl push ups on the same days so I can keep building up on them. Maybe one day I can do real ones but it will be a while I think. I just weigh too much for my arms.

Mikamah- yes, kathy it's Saturday and Sunday. I know we're having dinner at the hotel on Saturday night. I believe there are some people just coming for that. Check out the thread on the podcast threads. Maybe you and Michael can join us for dinner!
Thanks Tracey. I don't think we'll be able to do that. Michael wants to have a sleep over, so we may try and do it this weekend. Have fun.

Good morning Team Donald!!

We had a school fundraiser last night, spaghetti dinner, and I did pretty well with the eating, 2 small meatballs, small amt pasta and big salad. Got home and did some wii just dance, and today I ran for an hour. I was down a bit on the scale and broke 205 for the first time and think it is possible for me to be really strict and break the 200 pound mark in 2 weeks before our trip. I know it's more than I usually would see, but I'm going for it.

Qotd- I follow ww. I got the new info, but don't have a new book/calculator, but am trying to stick with the non processed foods, and will use the old slider, but if it's breads or cereals, will add points. The points for me is like calorie counting, and help me to keep portions in check.

Have a great day!!

Hi Shannon! Nice to see you! :flower3: Alcatraz is very interesting -- be sure and get your tickets early because they do sell out. The northwest museum in Victoria is interesting but you've probably already been there. :cool2:

Question of the Day

Do you stick to the same diet all the time or do you vary?

Glad that you had a quiet day! :flower3:

I've done just about every diet there is I think! :lmao: The ones that work before me are calorie counting/exchanges. I'm doing WW Points Plus now. As long as I keep having success I will stick to it. It is nice to have fruits and vegetables be free -- helps you make better choices.

And being able to know calories does help in the long run -- saw that last night on the Biggest Loser. The folks at Fitness Ridge who were served all their food lost a challenge because they didn't know their calories. Not too helpful for real life! :sad2:

Have a great day Donalds! :donald:

Good morning everyone!

I have been off the boards since Monday morning and what an awesome surprise to see my name in the #2 spot this week! I totally didn't expect that! Like I mentioned before, I don't think this week will be the same, but if I can maintain I will be happy.

I had bookclub on Monday night and while I avoided the wine, the colorie rich food certainly made its way onto my plate. The main dish was chicken pot pie and the side dishes were baked mac and cheese (with bacon ), and mashed potatoes (with lots of butter and sour cream...again )...and I had some of each. I talked about it with my BF when I got home and he made the good point that as long as I am not making a habit of it, it is OK to indulge every once in a while. And I am finding that as I get used to eating lower calorie meals, I don't crave that bad stuff as much.

Yesterday I was in St. Louis all day for work. I didn't get a workout in (aside from walking around the aiport trying to find something at least moderately healthy for dinner) and my lunch choices weren't good. We had lunch provided and my options were pizza and caesar salad with (lots) of dressing already added. I didn't have a lot to eat, but I know that I went over my calories for the day.

Today I am back at home, so I'm planning for it to be a much better day :thumbsup2

QOTD for Tuesday: I think my favorite ride is probably Tower of Terror. I love the thrill of it and I honestly think it is the best themed ride at WDW. Unfortunately, I know that I will NEVER get my BF to ride it so I will have to find another ride companion.

QOTD for today: I am just trying to make healthy choices, so I'm not sure if I would even call it a diet. Each time I have been successful at losing weight, I have done it by counting calories and increasing my exercise. I know that at some point, I probably won't have to eat as few calories as I am eating now, but like it was said earlier, since I have been over weight, I will never be able to eat the same amount as someone who is the same size who has never been overweight. If I want to continue to live a healthy lifestyle, I will always have to pay attention to what I am taking into my body and make a conscience effort to make good choices.

I hope you all have a great day! I will probably not be on at all tomorrow, but will catch up on Friday!

beth

Question of the Day

Do you stick to the same diet all the time or do you vary?

I vary my diet in a sense of what I'm eating but do try to eat 80% or more of my food clean and whole. I haven't really followed a plan ever such Atkins, low carb, South Beach, etc. I just eat food and track it for the most part though for a couple weeks last year I did do only raw food in the day time and felt great but cost got to be too much. I have been avoiding processed, packaged foods as much as possible. Sometimes when budget is low I end up going for cheaper sustenance but I think if I do meal planning I can greatly cut my cost down to fit my budget better.

I was browsing the message boards on MyFitnessPal and there is this big buff dude on there offering help to people trying to lose. I checked out his food diary and not once single veggie on any of the days I checked. :scared1: Why would I take advice from someone that lives on whey protein shakes and meat and doesn't know what a vegetable is??? His calories were around 1800 a day and he isn't eating his workout calories which I know not everybody does but the no produce thing is kinda scary for me. I know its typical for men to not eat veggies. They feel like if its not meat it won't give them energy. That really makes me irked because I get lots of energy when I eat fresh veggies/fruit.

Forgot QOTD

today is a new day only because I didn't eat yesterday. I've done pretty well today, I could have lived without the banana bread from Starbucks but I'm so sick of oatmeal!

I agree... oatmeal gets tiring pretty fast. But I try to change up the "flavoring" frequently. One day I add applesauce or chopped apples and raisins. Another day I might put in sliced banana and walnuts. Sometime just plain with a bit of real brown sugar and a splash of almond milk is enough. But that said, I only have oatmeal two to three times per week. I usually have egg whites at least twice a week (usually on my really low point days, which are usually Mondays and THursdays), and some sort of "toasted" carbohydrate with peanut butter on the other days.

Good Tuesday morning Team Donald.

I have one more marathon day for me and I can breath easier.

Yesterday was school and a math meet. It was a home meet so I had a lot more to do than normal. I like our home meet since I give the kids and ice cream party and they get to eat in the teacher's cafeteria. we didn't do great but the kids had fun and really did a great job cleaning up after the meet so it was worth it.

Today I have school and then at 4 I am scheduled to be at McDonald's for a fundraiser and then a meeting about costumes at the local high school. Besides that grades are due and I am giving a national math contest. Boy that makes me tired just thinking about it. The rest of the week is pretty calm.

Congrats B&B on being the top loser this week.

lTS glad you were able to get back to work yesterday. First graders will wear anyone out.

Setting Sail hope you have a nice day shopping.

dreamer24 that workout sounds pretty intense.

To everyone else Hi!

Question of the Day

I am going to steal this one from Team Mickey from yesterday

What is your favorite ride at DW? If you can't pick one then try to pick one from each park.

I will be back later tonight to answer it.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Busy, busy lady! Thanks for taking the time to keep up with us here!

QOTD: Favorite ride... SOARIN'!! Without a doubt. Epcot is not my favorite park and DD is planning to boycott it during our upcoming Mother/Daughter trip to WDW (have I mentioned that?), but I said we MUST hit Epcot for at least a half day to do Soarin' and Test Track! I ADORE World Showcase, but for my kids it is a big yawn. :sad2: Where did I go wrong with them??;)

I think it is my favorite because we first experienced the "original" version in CA during our trip there in 2005 and it was truly the trip of a lifetime. Best memories of my LIFE from that trip!!

popping back in to say hey.

LOL

I got through week 2/day 1 on C25K. It was uuugly but I did it. I am definitely still feeling the effects of being sick. I will most likely do week 2 again. DH came down to see me run, that was weird, I'm not a big fan of people watching me work out. LOL But talking to him while doing my last run got me through it because I so wanted to stop!

I think I need to buy a new treadmill though, I've had this one for about 14 years so it's time. the belt is starting to separate at the seam on the underside. I'm going to call pro-form and see if I can get the belt replaced or if I should just get a new one.

I also picked up Bob Harper's kettle bell and DVD today.
Does anyone else have that one? I got the 7 pound because while I could lift the 10 pound I thought it might be to much to start.

And a question about Shred? I heard someone say you had to do push ups and what not. Are their vocal cues? My TV is up above the fireplace and when you are down on the floor doing push ups I can't see the TV.

Sorry I'm rambling!!! OK time to hit the shower and do my household chores. See y'all later!!

Okay.... that is your new nickname..... "Hot Legs"!! :lmao: I can see a tag about this in your future!!

Let me know how you like the kettle bell workout. I"ve been debating between buying a medicine ball or a kettle bell.

Shred is a KILLER! I should find my original post from when I first tried it. It was a funny post, if I may say so myself!

Shawn-- I have beaten myself up with the same thoughts more times than I would like to admit. And it made me so sad that I treated myself so poorly--still does sometimes. Question of the Day

Do you stick to the same diet all the time or do you vary?

Last time I lost weight I went with counting calories but this time I am trying some low carb.

Will check in later.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Well.. as a "rule" I've stuck with WW for the past three years steady. But that said, I've tried to do a really HEALTHY version of WW. I've been trying to avoid the pitfalls and "tricks" of those low cal, not-so-healthy foods that so many people end up consuming (like lots of WW frozen meals and such). That said, I do keep Skinny Cow treats in the house on a regular basis.

I've tried to reduce my carbohydrate intake during this journey and have eliminated most "white" carbs from my diet. I rarely eat white potatoes, white bread, and I NEVER eat white rice or pasta. I never drink sugar drinks like soda or fruit juice, but I do love carrot juice, which is VERY sweet.

I tried Atkins many years ago when DH was doing it. I lasted about 10 days and then I was INSANE for a piece of fruit! I just couldn't stick to it. I don't love meat. I'm SO GLAD that I didn't stick to it because I firmly believe it is NOT a healthy lifestyle. I know I've said it before, but I think that all it taught DH was that he LOVES a huge 3 egg omelet with lots of cheese and bacon!! He learned NOTHING about portion control, calories, exercise, or whole grains. I will say, he lost about 60 pounds over the course of a year or so and DID stick with the plan for a few years. But of course, the minute
he added ANY carbs, the weight came FLYING back on.

Like many of you, I've tried lots of different fad diets over the years too. I've done the cabbage soup diet, Slimfast, and my own "Survivor" diet (lots of brown rice and bits of protein and fruit here and there). Of course, I lost a few pounds here and there, but nothing consistent.

I've had the most consistent luck with WW over the years.

Good morning everyone!

I have been off the boards since Monday morning and what an awesome surprise to see my name in the #2 spot this week! I totally didn't expect that! Like I mentioned before, I don't think this week will be the same, but if I can maintain I will be happy.

beth

I love both of your bolded statements!! Your BF is RIGHT.... it IS okay to indulge occasionally. That will help you stay on track the rest of the time! And we do need to stop using the word DIET when we talk about eating healthier. Unfortunately the word DIET has become synonymous with "deprivation", "going without", "suffering", and most unfortunate, "temporary".

If you are doing this right, you aren't on a DIET.... you are creating a new HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE for yourself!!! For a LIFETIME!!

It sounds like you've made some GREAT strides with the mental and emotional part of this journey!!!

Well.... GOOD MORNING friends!!

I'm glad to see so many of you doing so well this week!

First of all.... a small NSV to mention. I FINISHED a bottle of multi-vitamins!! It didn't get forgotten and expire. I actually started it and finished it!! Kind of silly I suppose, but in the past I've bought vitamins and then they have languished in the cupboard until they've expired and then gotten thrown out. But yesterday I actually FINISHED a bottle of vitamins and bought a new bottle!! I try to get most of my vitamins through my healthy food choices, but I think it is important to have a multi-vit on top of it because I cannot possibly take in EVERY vitamin in its fullest quantity every day and still stay within my calories.

Well.... I can't think of anything else to chatter about. Unusual for me! I guess there isn't much to report on this end. So I won't take up any more of your time! TTYL.....................P

I've never dieted per say (i.e. followed a specific plan like weight watcher/atkins etc) as repetition gets boring way to quick.. This time I'm trying to stay with the basic formula of good choices and atleast 30 min of exercise a day.

I have to say cutting out cable and not getting the digital box yet caused me to hit the treadmill for 2 hrs (almost 8.5 miles!) to watch the biggest Loser in the fitness room last night.. Little sore today but still got my 30 min of yoga meltdown in.. Now off to work :P

Let me know how you like the kettle bell workout. I"ve been debating between buying a medicine ball or a kettle bell.

Shred is a KILLER! I should find my original post from when I first tried it. It was a funny post, if I may say so myself!

Poor DH I'm like Pamela said this and Pamela did that, and he's like who the heck is this lady?!?!? And I'm like "Imaginary Friend" LOL

I will let you know about the kettle bell. Don't have time to do it today and tomorrow I'm running and having my mammo, but I will get to it this weekend.

OK gotta run and get the kidlets and go to the BOE meeting PTO is presenting and I have to be there.

Question of the Day

It is Monday morning. Did you stay on track over the weekend or is today a NEW DAY?

I had a pretty good weekend. I ate a little more on Super Bowl Sunday than I should have but I did a little longer of a workout on Sunday and Monday to help out.

Question of the Day

I am going to steal this one from Team Mickey from yesterday

What is your favorite ride at DW? If you can't pick one then try to pick one from each park.

Magic Kingdom- Pirates of the Caribbean
Animal Kingdon- Kilamanjaro Safari
Epcot- Spaceship Earth
Hollywood Studios- Muppets 3D

Question of the Day

Do you stick to the same diet all the time or do you vary?

I am not doing a diet at the moment. I am just focusing on healthy eating and changing my habits for good.

It has been a good week so far. I have a call back for a second interview so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I do plan splurge a bit on Friday as it is Birthday but nothing to extravagent.
