TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Catching up:

1/11/11 Tuesday QOTD What exercise excuse do you use most often?

D) None of the above- I use "I don't want to"

My answer this time is my "achievement" board. Each day I exercise 30+ min I get a sticky with the date on it (If I hit 60+ min its date+) For every 7 days I get in a row I get a reward. Last week it was new pants (that well fit!) This week it's going to be a new digital scale...

I found having it so out in the open makes me need to earn todays sticky :)

1/12/11 How do the weekends affect your weight loss goals?

* They help- I do better than the weekdays
* They ruin them- I fall off the wagon completely!
* Not sure- They're just like any other days

Well since my weekends are not everyone elses weekends (this week I had Mon/Sat off) They are just like any other days. Its when I have morning shifts that kill my routine..

1/8/11 Saturday QOTD: How would you rate your "diet rage"?
Low- I'm moving slowly, but I'm on my way!
Moderate- Everyone's moving except me
High- I'm screaming but no one can hear me!
All Over The Board- It's stop and go all the way

All Over the board I suppose. There are days or time of the day I am all in it and other times I'm like I'm making progress and slow down.

Sunday QOTD: If you were at Disneyland or Disney World today what you would you be doing right now?
I would be riding Space Mountain or walking and browsing the countries in Epcot. Those are my favorite things to do

1/11/11 Tuesday QOTD What exercise excuse do you use most often?

* I don't have time
* I'm too tired
* It's too difficult for me
* It's boring
* I don't want people to see me
* I don't know what I'm doing
* I don't make any of these excuses

I'm tired and occasionally I don't want people to see me(weekends when the house is full I may just walk outside those days...ARGH)

1/12/11 Wednesday How do the weekends affect your weight loss goals?

* They help- I do better than the weekdays
* They ruin them- I fall off the wagon completely!
* Not sure- They're just like any other days

They ruin them in some cases because I eat so different and not always regular meals so I end up snacking at night. Also we watch movies a lot on weekends and snack on popcorn etc. And sometimes we aren't home so I'm eating at someone else's house where it may not be geared to the way I normally would choose to eat.

Quick question?? Has anyone heard of body(skin) brushing for skin tightening?? Supposed to be very good at minimizing excess skin, you use a natural plant fiber brush to brush towards your heart. When I get my next round of extra cash I want to get one. I know a couple of people that aren't paid or have profit at their best interest that say it really shows improvements. I didn't think about it at Christmas or I would have used part of my gift cards I had for it. Also there is an alfalfa blend that is said to help tighten skin. Its all in the T Tapp(ttapp.com if anyone wants to check it out...) which I want to get eventually too. I've tried out some of the try before you buy moves she shares on the site.

Okay caught up on the QOTD's that I had missed plus today's Q. :)

pjlla,
I hear ya on the parent part. Oh yeah it would be nice if these places weren't on every corner to hear kids scream we want McD's etc. I know for most part they may not know about it if they didn't get to go. I had an ex boyfriend whose mom never took him to ANY fastfood. He really didn't know what was there. His brother took him to McDonalds when he was a teen for the first time. Found out he had vision problems because he couldn't read the menu up there and didn't know of any of the sandwiches to choose that way. His mom had brought Burger King hamburger/cheeseburgers ONLY home a few times but he had never been inside one. Strange huh?
What a shame about the new Disneyland. I wonder when it will change. I want to make it over this year sometime if I can get myself in a job here soon it will be possible. We are thinking of going with friends to San Diego too this summer so maybe on way back we can stop in for a day or two. DD hasn't been to DL I went once long ago in 93 or so before CA was there. It is so silly that I live 6 hours from there and haven't really gone yet have been to WDW many many times. hehe

Wendy,
That is true. Tracking helps you learn from past since you can see where you went wrong. For me its consistency in tracking because if I don't I end up off for weeks that turn into months as weight comes back. EEK

princess reject,
I was away all weekend too. I was too busy doing other things with family and friends. :)
ToT isn't that bad. I'm really really afraid of elevators in general and really liked it. I was hesitant to go but my dad dragged me on and I ended up going again if I recall right. Tell him if someone so afraid of elevators can go he can too. You could try some yoga in the evenings. Even a short relaxing 15 minute pre-bed routine is good after a long work day. You can build up your own sets of poses it can be energizing but the relaxed feeling you get will help you still prepare for sleep.

TaraLee,
Yep the weekends can be like that. I'm home all the time temporarily unemployed(the last year UGH) but friends and family work so that is our time to catch up and spend quality time together. Plus it offers me a chance to get out of the house which is always welcomed. :) I struggle almost daily with the baby thing. I was so happy and felt very blessed to witness my BFF's 4th child's birth in June. I was happy yet sad that it can't be me right now. :( The whole single mom and not dating or anything right now makes it hard to see this in my future at anytime in the nearer future.

pudge,
You beat the battle if you got to it. You'll be walking 3 miles fast before you know it. :)

MickeySP,
I've never tried the Asics. I liked my Reebok running shoes right now I have Nike ones but they have been my everyday shoes so they are quite worn. I need to get some new ones if I'm ever going to get a walk/jog going again. It will be summer but I'm building a baseline for exercise and fitness right now so I'll trudge through the temps when the time comes. I'll just bring all the water I can. LOL These Nike have been comfortable though I think either the arch isn't high enough for me or I have worn them down that much. They used to be better at shock absorption so its probably the later. I get stretching like discomfort in the arch when I do jumping jacks and jumping. And lunges with bicep curls on 30 Day Shred are really bad on them since I'm on the balls of my feet. I gotta find out what I can do for this other than buy new shoes because right now its not in the budget.

Good luck at the weigh in Friday. My fingers are crossed for you. I was having problems staying in my calorie range last week and still saw a loss with only 3 days of intense workout. :) It had actually gone up before it went back down so have some hope. :goodvibes

Shawn,
I had the scale not moving last week actually showed nothing the Thursday night when I stepped on but in the morning I was down. :) Get that sleep 8 hours if you can. 7 and the low end. It really helps with this. ;) i agree with Jessi its good to mix it up eat the high and low end to trick the body.

Jessi,
Thanks. I will look for it and ask about it at the Farmer's Market or the health food section at the regular grocery. I can bet it may taste quite similar to what I eat which has no added sugar. 1g the same as PB2. But the calorie loss would be nice. I can find ways to get omega 3 in. I may start supplementing our almond milk with flax seed oil again. I did it when dd was a toddler to help fatten her milk up some since she is and always has been a slow gainer. She was the same weight at her 7 year well visit as her 5 year. :guilty: They think she looks and is healthy though so that is what matters. A lean body is a good body. :confused3
:woohoo: on the surprise loss. I had that last Friday. :goodvibes I may have to adjust my siggy to add a ticker. It will be motivating to watch it move across to my challenge goal. Love the Donald hope you don't mind if I do the same one.

cuteduck,
Its hard for me to drink water first thing. I need some kind of small snack before I can. Sometimes the soda is all I need and I go right to water without problems. But water first thing in the morning makes me gag somewhat. I am usually very good at limiting my soda to one in the morning. Keep up with the water it really becomes second nature to drink a lot of it and love and YES even crave it even if you've had soda that day. ;)

Buzz,
Red kidney beans from the can will get pretty mushy but dry ones don't seem to go mush as easily from what I've noticed. If you use canned you can always add them later like someone suggested. We go through a LOT of kidney beans. ;) Its mine and my dd's favorite. The kid would eat half a can when she was a toddler. She ate very little meat still does so I tend to keep them around for her.

Taryn,
Continue the positive thinking for DH. I think the thank you will be a good thing. :) Glad he had a good day.

Lisa,
Thanks for the link on excuses stuff. I'll be checking it out in a minute. Nope not too many snow shovels sold. I've never seen them in the valley stores. I saw and ice scraper once when I worked in auto parts, but it was shipped from a store in the North we acquired. :rotfl: I could have used one recently we had a week of freezing. We typically may only get one or two freezes a year so this year met some cold temps. I had to scrap it with a credit card(well used gift card) it works out quite nice but freezes your hands up. Zoe thought it was really cool all the "snow" it made. We did even get flurries around the valley here and there that week on one day. ;) For the record I grew up in the Midwest till 12 so I DO know the work it is to shovel yourself out. :goodvibes

I think that is caught up a few days/pages. Hope I didn't miss something too important.

Thanks to all the coaches, and trackers for all your work. :goodvibes

1/12/11 WednesdayHow do the weekends affect your weight loss goals?

* They help- I do better than the weekdays
* They ruin them- I fall off the wagon completely!
* Not sure- They're just like any other days

I am going to pick not sure because sometimes they go great but other times I tell myself "hey its the weekend. Relax and enjoy"

I love egg beaters microwaved, with some salsa and cheese and sometimes I'll put it on toast or an english muffin.

I eat instant oatmeal almost every day. I like to keep a variety of flavors around so I don't feel like every day is the same. I also like cottage cheese or an english muffin with a little bit of peanut butter.

I'm working through my OAMM cooking menu, and have made two breakfast dishes that we really like.

Breakfast Bread with Carob and Carrots, 94 calories for 2 small slices. Lots of healthy stuff in there! I like it with my coffee in the morning. Its not very sweet, but I don't mind that.

Egg White Breakfast Sandwich, 250 calories per sandwich. I haven't tried one yet (just made them today), but my daughter LOVES them. I think I will have to make another batch before the week is out!

I also made the Black Bean and Roasted Pepper soup today, and am in love. It is my absolute favorite thing I've made on the menu so far! mmmmmmmm, so good.

how about oatmeal?? I know I used to hate it but I have been making a crock pot oatmeal with steel cut oats adding apple chunks, cinnamon and let it cook all night- it keeps for a few days too (if I can keep my kids away from it ) just add a tad bit of milk and microwave it. I have the recipe somewhere I'll find it and post later.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I got a bunch of stuff to start off. I have never been a big fan of oatmeal but am willing to give it a try again.

Today has been okay so far. Shoveled snow for a half an hour this morning before running out to the grocery store. We did go out for breakfast/brunch and I stuck to healthier items like fruit and yogurt.

I'm here! Just been a crazy, busy, stressful few days.

The good news is that DS25 has a car again. Had to stand firm----more with DH than DS25, but it is a 2005 Focus, financed thru a place for people with no/bad credit. All in his name, payments every 2 weeks the day after his payday. It has over 80k miles, but comes with an extended warranty. Now up to him to make the payments, or lose it all. No late payments accepted! Hopefully this will wake him up.....but I'm not positive.

I've been really good with journaling - both points and with my Bugg, and I SHOULD be losing, but the scale is moving the wrong way. Likely due to lack of exercise. Just no hours left in the day, and too cold/windy to get out & walk (excuses like yesterday's qotd, but very valid at present - and I don't like it).

Off to start on the messy house.

Hi guys!!:wave2: Better late than never, right? Ive been placed on Team Donald and hopefully, you guys will let me join you. :flower3:

Im Linds, 33 year old mom of 3 boys aged 22, 10 and 4. DP of 11 years is 39. January of 2010 I clocked in at 265. I made the promise to myself that I would make the changes needed to become a better and namely more healthy mother.
Through lots of hard work and dedication, in August, I weighed 203. However, that same month was the start of a very bad ending of 2010. Our 2 year old (who lived in for 1.5 years) grandson went home to live with his parents, we sold our home to prevent foreclosure, DP was wrongly terminated from her company after 7 years, a fight with said company for unemployment, and the passing of both my mother and DP's father - both deaths with in a week and a half from each other. To top it all off, the weekend we were out of town, burying DP's father, our home was broken into. The only thing taken was the boys' "Mickey Bucket" which is where the family saves all change and random extra money for the next Disney trip. Thankfully, nothing else was stolen, but of all things, I wish it hadn't of been that.

Needless to say, my weight and staying healthy were the least of my concerns. There were nights my boys ate Pop Tarts for dinner because I just didn't have the mental ability to do more for them.

HOWEVER, time does heal and at some point you just have to pull up your big girl panties and deal with life. So far, 2011 has been FANTASTIC and I have been able to get back on track. :woohoo:

Unfortunately, I put 20+ of my 60 pounds lost, back on. My weigh in on Monday was 225.

I'm anxious to get back to work and to get down to my goal weight of 160.

Please PM me your weight and goal for the challenge. You will not be entered unless I receive the PM. Weigh ins are from Friday until Monday at 7:30pm EST. So, you can use the weigh that you email me as your starting and send me another weigh in between Friday and Monday to be included in next week's results.

Good morning TEAM DONALD!

Keep up the good work with the good results. TEAM MICKEY is fired up and gunning for us after the results posts. We have to double our efforts to stay in front! :cheer2:

I'll post the QOTD and be back in a bit for replies.

Week-ends! Everybody loves 'em. Looks forward to them. But do they derail all your great efforts during the week? Or do you keep up your healthy habits all week-end?

Here is an article from sparkpeople about strategies you can use so your week-end doesn't make you go off track:
http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/wellness_articles.asp?id=409

There is also a link that I will post here about another problem area that hit me last night -- the dreaded evening eating! :scared1:
Evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_articles.asp?id=407

What about you? Are you spot OP (on plan) all the time? Or do the week-ends do you in?

Go DONALDS GO! :cheer2: :donald:

AGH!!! I needed these articles last night!!! I wanted to graze soooo bad!!

Weekends are so bad. DH sometimes comes home so I want to go eat out because I'm tired of cooking. He wants to eat in because he's eaten out all week. So we do the round robin of what do you wanna eat, I don't know what do you want to eat. Til it's like 8:30 and the kids are starving. At that point we end up eating fast food.

Also I have to entertain him and the kids so I don't leave the house to work out so I end up not working out at all. And if I get up he's like come cuddle with me. Yeah......no.

Nights are the worst though. The kids are all finally in bed, I want to veg in front of the TV and and unwind. I don't drink so my relaxation is food. I just want to enjoy the pint of rocky road alone without 4 kids asking for some.

I've been trying to spend nights in my craft room to keep me from eating. In fact I finished my food journal last night instead of eating salsa and chips. LOL

here it is!

2011 Questions of the Day- Team Donald!!

Sat 1/1/11- How did you ring in the New Year?
This year was a quiet ring in. We spent New Year's Eve evening with just a few good friends with coffee around a fire, while the kids played the Wii. New Year's evening, we had a "New Year around the world" dinner party. I cooked and served several traditional dishes from different cultures around the world.

Sun 1/2/11- What are your hobbies?
I am very artsy fartsy and crafty. I love to cook and bake. I cross stitch and sew, among other things. I dont know if I would classify it as a habit. But I am a walker in the Susan G Komen 3 Day for the Cure. 2010 was my first year and after the experience, Ill be a lifer!

Tues 1/4/11- If you have just one day at DW which park would you want to see?
With out a doubt - Wishes. My all time favorite of all things Disney.

Wed 1/5/11- What is your favorite exercise?
Walking outdoor. When I cant get outside due to the weather, I like Wii Active.

Thur 1/6/11- What is the one thing that you have done this week that is helping you along this journey?
Made the mental affirmation that I was - scratch that - AM getting back on track!

Fri 1/7/11- Are you surprised by how much (or little) you can eat for the calories, depending on which foods you choose?
Honestly, I'm not surprised anymore. I was in the beginning though.

1/8/11 Saturday QOTD: How would you rate your "diet rage"?
Low- I'm moving slowly, but I'm on my way!
Moderate- Everyone's moving except me
High- I'm screaming but no one can hear me!
All Over The Board- It's stop and go all the way

I guess Im confused by this question cause I dont get it.

1/9/11 Sunday QOTD: If you were at Disneyland or Disney World today what you would you be doing right now?
Right this very minute? Probably on Tower of Terror - watching my 10 year old scream bloody murder. :rotfl2:

1/10/11 Monday QOTD: Which strategy helps you reach your weight loss goals?
Starting & progressing slowly
Putting it on paper
Learning as much as possible
Utilizing plenty of social supports
Keeping things fun
Learning from my setbacks
Trust the plan
Consistency
All of the above
None of the above

Absolutely, all of the above.

1/11/11 Tuesday QOTD What exercise excuse do you use most often?

* I don't have time
* I'm too tired
* It's too difficult for me
* It's boring
* I don't want people to see me
* I don't know what I'm doing
* I don't make any of these excuses
I dont make any of these excuses - I have one of my own -- The weather is my excuse right now. I walk more than anything else and its very cold out. Today it will NOT stop me!

1/12/11 Wednesday How do the weekends affect your weight loss goals?

* They help- I do better than the weekdays
* They ruin them- I fall off the wagon completely!
* Not sure- They're just like any other days

Here lately, I fall off the wagon more when it comes to eating. However, exercise is usually better - Ill spend more time out playing ball with the boys or on the walking track.

:yay: Just checking in! Did my treadmill for two episodes of Lost. I'm still in Season One. Claire is about to have her baby, it's so dramatic!

It's 3:45 here and I'd really love a bag of Cheetos, but alas, I will not. ;) I'm saving my carbs for dinner. (I don't even have any in the house!) Actually, I need to grocery shop because I'm running low on fruit and when I get snacky, if it's not right there and easy...I am WEAK!

here it is!

This is AWESOME! I had one on our last DW trip. I wrote all of our ADRs and included a menu from each restaurant where I highlighted what I planned on ordering. It was a HUGE help to keep me on track.

Mine was just a simple note book - yours is TOO CUTE!!

Thanks Linds! I'm artsy and crafty too, or try to be in my spare time. My kids have a slight addiction to notebooks, LOL, so I had to set mine apart from the pack so they won't touch it.

Besides, if it looks pretty I might actually want to use it!!

Good Morning, Team Donald!

I've been working out since January 1, but just found you and am so excited to have someone to check in with every week! I have tried this many times and really want to succeed more than ever. My goal for May 22 is to lose 35 pounds, but I also have a mid point goal. I have a trip to WDW on March 5 and I'd like to have lost 20 pounds by then.

:welcome: Pixieflip!

I had a good day yesterday. I went for my long run/walk with the plan to do 8-10 miles and made the whole 10 miles. I still am amazed that I did it. I figured with the snow today I should push since the roads won't be clear for a while.

:woohoo: for 10 miles! You are so going to be ready for the Princess! princess:

Definitely. I have to work so much harder on the weekends. Not usually because we have lots going on, but sometimes, we are just around the house on the weekends. Also, we often have three meals a day together. So on weekdays I have lunch on my own at work, but on the weekends I usually make all three meals for all of us. Also there is more opportunity to snack.

I try to eat the best I can, limit portion size, not eat junk or dessert. Worked last weekend with only a small derail. Also, I really focus on getting back on track as quickly as I can and I try not to say to myself, "well I blew it already, I might as well not bother for the rest of the day."

That's the way to do it -- just get back on track as fast as you can! ::yes::

I wanted to take a minute to thank CC and Connie, and especially Tracey for all of their hard work on the spring challenge. We have a HUGE amount of active participants this spring, and as you can imagine, it is a lot of work to keep track of everything.

This is Tracey's first challenge as weight keeper and she is doing a fabulous job. Please if you have any questions or you think data is missing, let us know.

To make things as easy as possible for folks managing the challenge, please always remember to include your team name when sending a pm.

Remember that for weight you simply have to pm your current weight and your team name.

For WIN, your total inches and team name.

For HH your total points, and a breakdown for each challenge (ex: total 12/21, exercise 7/7, water 5/7) along with your team name.

Thank you again to Tracey, CC and Connie and thank you to all of our participants. We have a fabulous group and I think there are going to be lots of 'Losers" this Spring!!!:goodvibes

Yes, thanks to Tracey, CC, Connie, Dona and you, too Rose! :thanks:

QOTD: weekends are hard for me, because I am home and every time I pass the kitchen I seem to think of food. Work days are filled with busy things and I only get a 30 minute lunch break so it is much easier to stay on track.

Yep, definately a lot more temptation at home! ::yes::

But, I did come up with something that really helped me yesterday. On Tuesdays I bowl in a league, and I go to the lanes right after work because it is way out of my way to go home first. I'm not good at packing both a lunch and a dinner for myself, so I generally eat out on Tuesdays. I am doing my best to avoid eating at the bowling alley because the healthy choices there are pretty much nonexistant. However, my only other options are Subway and McDonald's, and Subway is only doable if I am running really early. Yesterday I knew it would be McDonald's, so before I left work I looked at their nutrition chart on-line and picked what I was going to eat. Then, I entered the food (a salad and a fruit and yogurt parfait) into my on-line food journal. That way I couldn't change my mind when I was tempted by something else once I was actually there :woohoo: It would have been too big of a hassle to look up the calories for the new food, erase the old food and re-enter the new food. So, even though I had to "trick" myself into eating healthy, I did it :woohoo:

Way to go, Beth! :cheer2:

Exactly, hopefully I'll be that much closer to my goal and closer to my cruise as well.

Are you done with your busy time or are you busy now as well?

Woo hoo! A cruise sounds like fun! Where are you going? (You probably told me before but I can't remember )

It is busier for us this time of year -- lots of year end stuff, people holding off until after the holidays to start fussing with one another. I hear it's tough for the tax folks because the IRS and the software folks don't have updates done so people can actually get their work filed. :rolleyes1

Fortunately for me, Wednesdays are usually a higher points day for me, so at least I have a few points to play with if I want to snuggle up and have some popcorn or a little treat later.

And more activity points for snow shoveling! :goodvibes

Hi Team Donald.

Great job everyone on the results this week! Let's all keep up the good work! :cheer2:

:yay:

Hi guys!!:wave2: Better late than never, right? Ive been placed on Team Donald and hopefully, you guys will let me join you. :flower3:.

:welcome: lindseyry! Thanks for joining our challenge! :flower3:

AGH!!! I needed these articles last night!!! I wanted to graze soooo bad!!

Sorry! :flower3: But I love your journal!

Hello Donalds! I feel like I'm popping in and out and the thread is moving really fast:upsidedow

I see that Team Donald is ahead :cheer2: Great start!!

QOTD (ones I missed) - if I were at WDW - I would be engulfing myself in the smells and sounds to store them up until my next visit.

weekends are better for me - kids schedules die down a little bit and dh and I can get our workouts in easier. Not having to deal with dinner/homework/night time craziness....

Hi to new members! Getting another treadmill workout tonight between hockey and religion class. 30 minutes is better than nothing!

Thanks Lisa! I like it even more then usual because it kept me from eating last night.
I need to keep projects staged in my craft room.

ETA: I printed the articles and I'm going to make a pocket for the back of my book so I can keep them there. I can read them in my moments of weakness.

For those who have signed up but not sent me a PM with your starting weight, please do so! If you forgot last week you can send me last week's weight and your Friday weigh in weight!

Especially:
wdwmomof3

Have a great night!

TTFN :tigger:

 I gotta say Bob inspired me today while watching BL(I watch on Wed on Hulu because we don't have cable or a box to get basic tv even). I already did my Jillian's 30 Day Shred this morning, walked 10 minute brisk walk to bus stop and just completed 20 minutes of Bob's Yoga for the Warrior AND the 15 minute yoga abs on same dvd. OH my goodness. I don't know how many times I yelled out "BOB". Some of those moves I struggle with because of this large thing in front of me called a belly. I just wanna get it shrunk down some. :sad2: Also with hulu I don't get long "commercials they are about a minute but most of them I did something. Leg lifts on one, push ups on another to show dd how far I've come then I did those training things where you would jump back to like a plank pose then forward then all the way up. I can't do the jumping really same reason as above but I stepped it out a few times on 2 breaks.

I did some major workouts today. Now hopefully I don't see a gain from muscle growth. :thumbsup2 Whew. Now I'm off to the shower because I have to go out in the world to do some shopping. :upsidedow

QOTD: How do weekends affect my weight loss goals?

Weekends are much harder than the weekdays. I have more free time, and much more access to the kitchen, with its snacks, foods, etc.

 Had a busy day. Went and bought tickets to see Blue Man Group :cool1::yay::cool1::yay: I have wanted to see them for years and years and years. DH waited until last night to tell me to go and get tickets for this weekend. :sad2: I got the last 4 decent seats available. All the rest were obstructed view or we would have had to split up. I am so beyond myself excited! :woohoo:

Then met a Dis Friend for lunch and was so very very good. Had soup and salad at Friday's with just a tiny bit of lite dressing. Rejected the breadsticks and had water to drink.

We got luck with the weather. Somehow it has completely missed us. I though for sure we would miss school today and/or yesterday but just the 2 hr delay yesterday that really was for no reason as nothing ended up happening.

When you come back to Champaign for a visit, we should go out to lunch! Radio Maria has excellent tapas, and the portions are small so you don't blow your calorie count. :D (its also my very favorite place to eat)
.

I will have to see if my parents have been there. Is Garcia's still on Campus? I keep forgetting to ask her. I don't get back there much, in fact I don't think I have been back in about 13 years or so. We all meet at my Grandmother's in Memphis for family get togethers instead. But my mom had been trying to get me to come up to help her with some things around the house.

I am going to a new gym tomorrow at 6:oopm. It's called Fitness Together and each client trains with somebody. They're having an introductory special, so I figured I would try it out.
Way to go Team Donald on our weight loss. One thing I'm confused about: what was with the sad face next to our percentage?

That sounds like a very interesting concept. Let us know what you think.

I assumed the sad face was a typo. Sometimes if you put the wrong things together you end up with a smilie. Since a sad face is just a : and a ( it is not all that uncommon.

I tracked my food for today and proud to say I'm well within my range on Sparkpeople. :) :woohoo:

He wants an exercise bike for the living room which I want too but neither of us can afford it right now. Going to watch freecycle and craigslist for possibilities.

:woohoo:

You might want to go ahead and ask on Freecycle for a bike. I have found that a lot of times people don't think about the fact that they have something they are willing to get rid of unless you ask. Then someone thinks "hey, I have a bike in my shed that I would love to have someone haul out of here." In my area if something is listed as an offer they get 20 people responding so it is easier to ask first. Also check the thrift stores. They often have cast off exercise equipment.
Good luck finding one!

What about you? Are you spot OP (on plan) all the time? Or do the week-ends do you in?

1/12/11 WednesdayHow do the weekends affect your weight loss goals?

* They help- I do better than the weekdays
* They ruin them- I fall off the wagon completely!
* Not sure- They're just like any other days

Weekends are trickier for me because the family is around, and there is just a disruption to the routine. Meals are more difficult, because I have to consider everyone, not just myself.

This is exactly my answer too. When my routine is disrupted and I have to plan meals for everyone it becomes more difficult. And with the routine changed I actually find myself bored more so I want to eat.

I've been trying to spend nights in my craft room to keep me from eating. In fact I finished my food journal last night instead of eating salsa and chips. LOL

Make a plan! Have those meals already planned in advance with all the ingredients bought. Use the OAMM links that have been posted if you want to premake stuff to heat up quick and easy.

I love your journal! But really? Burger, Fries and Milkshake? Guess what I want for dinner now!:lmao: I guess since DH is fixing Stir Fried Chicken and Snow Peas I will have to resist the temptation.

Have to go help a child study for a SS test. And find Phorsenuf and kick her tail since I haven't seen her check in here before her birthday. And I KNOW she has been on the DIS since then. If you are lurking Phorse, I am coming to find you. . . . .:magnify:

Just popping in to say hello. I got 90 min of exercise shovelling snow but it's still coming down, so I'll get a little more exercise in the morning. My front yard is so full of snow, I hope we don't get any more storms till some of this melts.
I've got chili on the stove for dinner, and that will keep me on track the rest of the week.
DS is anxiously awaiting the automated phone call that school will be cancelled, but it's not coming yet. He just said I'm being so hard on him because I said he can't turn the tv back on until he's showered. He was supposed to shower right after shovelling and we came in a 5. It's a tough life.:rotfl:

I'm back to work tomorrow though, and my niece and nephew in the next town over already have school cancelled, so I won't have to worry about a babysitter if school is cancelled in the am.

:welcome:Linds! Always happy to see more folks here. So sorry about your mom and partners dad and all the stress you had last year. I hope 2011 continues to be a much better year for you.

Buffy- I love your journal. So cute. You are quite the scrapper.

Have a nice evening.
