TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

I briefly popped into a meeting to buy the new stuff when it came out. They calculated my points. Can't find anything in the books yet to tell how to calculate. but I get the minimum at age 50 5'3 which is 29.

I went and joined to get the new info, but haven't gone back for meetings. I weigh 212 am 46yo and got 31 points. They calculate it for you, so it is different. They didn't ask about activity or anything like that. I don't think the range is as big, since the least is 29. The leader at my meeting stressed to take the daily points for good health guidelines, and any extra non nutritional stuff should be from the weekly 49. Funny, the example they used was 138 pounds, and I thought, "hey, I got 75 pounds on her, and I only get 2 more points.?" But I was on 30 with the old plan, so it is really fine.

I am also using WW online but I don't know how the the calculations work. I know with the old system it was 60 calories per point but now they don't even ask for calories when you are manually calculating. Sorry I can't be of more help but I love it that most veggies and fruits are 0. This has been my first week really committing to the plan and I have to admit I've been hungry most of the week. My husband and I have been making some the recipes and wow is a serving small.

With that said, I can't really complain because with the plan and that I've been working out everyday, noticed I've been able to get rid of some the bloating (water weight) I had from all the wrong foods I was eating.

Thanks all! If the minimum is 29 then I guess that's what I will shoot for. I did hit the store today and get veggies and fruits and some non fat yogurt (Publix brand is very good). I also grabbed a case of bottled water. For some reason I drink more water if I have bottles then just out of the tap. Yeah, probably a psychological thing, but hey, it gets me drinking my water right. I'm so happy fruits are 0 points!! I always thought that was so silly.
Tomorrow I get on my Wii. NO excuses!!

If you are looking to make any of the recipes, we had the Sesame Chicken tonight with brown rice. It was better than I expected considering there was no sauce. I love how saucy the sesame chicken is from my favorite chinese restaurant. I also am only alloted 29 points a day.

Good evening DONALDS!!!!!!

Just a friendly reminder about weigh ins tomorrow! I will clear out my inbox before I go to bed tonight. If during the day my inbox becomes full try again after 3pm. I have to work and don't really have access all the time at work to take care of putting in your weigh ins. I have a few errands to do at some point tomorrow but will be home by 3pm for the remainder of the day!

Please include TEAM DONALD in the title of your weigh in to make it easier/faster for me to input your weights!

Have a g good night! And good luck in the morning!!!!

Question of the Day: the best thing I've done is just get moving again. I used to be so much more active so my baby steps are making me happy.

Good morning everyone.

Question of the Day
What is the one thing that you have done this week that is helping you along this journey?

I'm trying to be more concious of what I'm eating. One of my new year's goals was to work in more whole foods -- or at least cut out some chemical addititives. My breakfast has been normal (for me, anyway) -- 3 Jimmy Dean turkey sausage links and an ounce of Colby-Jack cheese. For lunch, I've had a sandwich with EarthGrains EcoBread 7 Grain and turkey. Dinner...no fried foods, more veggies, and (try) to eat before 7. (I should be eating earlier, but it's hard when you're sitting at the dance school until 6 two nights a week). Snacks are fresh fruit -- apples and pears, mostly. (Although, I have just snacked on a handful of raw carrots while waiting for dinner to be ready...yummy!)

Does that count? (I hope so...I find that to be a difficult question!)

Everyone's talking about yogurt. I think it unfair that Yoplait has all those dessert-esque flavors only in the Light versions. I seem to be allergic to aspartame. No diet sodas or light yogurts for me!

I've also got something to run by the group - I am thinking of changing my pounds lost clippie. The 55 clippie reflects the pounds I lost starting from my first Biggest Loser Challenge in January 2009. However. My starting weight from my January 2007 WWonline weigh in was actually 10 pounds higher. When I started in 2009, I didn't even want to face up to being where I was, let alone having been 10 pounds heavier. The fact that I managed to keep at least those 10 pounds off (sometimes more) for those two intervening years...well, I'm feeling like that is something to be proud of as well. And I feel like maybe I should really own my actual earlier starting weight and not essentially deny it ever happened. SO, if you happen to notice that I've suddenly "lost" 10 more pounds, do not fear for my health or mental well being. They are "OLD" pounds that I'm just now claiming.
Definitely update your clippie to all that you have lost. You should be proud of all those pounds you have said goodbye too, you worked hard to lose them all.

And then it's all bets are off? ;) Better wait for the race for that one! princess:

Today was my weigh in day for WW -- down 4.5 pounds! :yay: I ended up with 41 weekly points and 26 activity points that I didn't use though -- that's like two full days worth of points. :sad2: It worked out fine this week but I can see how that might cause me to get stalled out, especially with the Princess training. I'll have to try and at least use my weeklies this week.
Whoo hoo!! Awesome loss, Lisa!! That's a lot of points left, but if you weren't hungry, it makes sense that you don't need to eat them, especially when all the fruit and vegies are free now.
Don't worry, it's just the tracking I'll give up in disney, not all the healthy habits i've formed by then.;) I'm not a vacation tracker.

I think I do remember. Or how about the cute little Christmas displays they used to have at the NSM. Or when Toys R Us was at the end near that odd grocery store?
I loved the christmas displays when the mall was a shopping center and it was all open. I do remember toys r us in there, but the grocery store hasn't come back to me. I've got some early senility.

I am working on a date, maybe a place for a meet. Seems alot of us are north, sp I was thinking maybe North Shore Mall area or Burlington Mall area. Noth have some great restaraunts with healthy options.
That sounds great. When the weather is nicer, maybe we could meet at a park or beach and do a walk or hike too. Thanks for organizing this.

Unfortunately, though, it's less than 1 week in, and I'm already getting a bit discouraged... I weighed myself again this morning, and I'm up 1lb from Monday... :sad2::sad1: I hope I don't let all of you guys down tomorrow... :sad1::sad1:
:hug:Try not to get discouraged, and don't ever think you'll let us down if you have a gain. we all have our ups and downs, and we are here to help each other through the good and bad days. Hang in there.

You're doing the new PointsPlus, right? The leaders are now seeming to say that you shouldn't even feel badly about not using up your dailies anymore. Don't leave 15 a day, but if you have 4-5 that you don't feel you need and you're getting your GHG's in (i.e. you're using those zero point fruits and vegetables), don't worry. You never have to worry about not using Weeklies or AP - they are there as your option. They do say to make sure you are having some treats during the week, though - that's what makes the plan liveable in the long term.
This is good to know, and it makes sense too. If we're following all the good health guidelines, you may not need all the daily points. I'd like to do the meetings again, but just don't want to spend the money again.

Crazy exercise this week....
Saturday....1 hr on the AMT Machine
Sunday....1 hr BodyPump Class and 1hr on the AMT
Monday....1 hr AMT Machine
Tuesday....20 min AMT machine and then BodyPump class
Wednesday...1hr AMT
Thursday....30 min. AMT and 1hr BodyPump class

I was a little tired at BP class today.:scared1:
:worship:Wow, you've been busy! No wonder you were a little tired today. Will you plan a day off from exercise soon?

Thank you tracey for the reminder, and being our weightkeeper. It's such a big group, probably more than your inbox allows.

In the bottom right of each post next to the QUOTE button is a button with a quotation mark and a plus sign "+ . Click this button on each post you want to quote and it will change to a minus sign "- (because you click it again if you change your mind and don't want to quote it) and change colors. Then when you are done and ready to post you can just click on Post Reply and the Reply to Thread box will open with all of the posts you are quoting in it. Then you have to go through and look for the quote tags (spelled incorrectly here so it show up) and post your replies under each one. You can also edit out information you don't want to include within the tags, just be sure that you don't delete any of the code.

I never knew this - this will make it so much easier to do personal replies

The leader at my meeting stressed to take the daily points for good health guidelines, and any extra non nutritional stuff should be from the weekly 49.

Didn't know this either - I need to learn more about the PointsPlus program.

To those that suggested Roasted Brussel Sprouts - I thank you and my husband thanks you. It turned out really well. Also, I've had great success with skinnytaste. I really am thankful for all the great advice !

I'm hopeful about the weigh in tomorrow. I would love to say I don't care - because I FEEEEEL so much better/awake this week from cutting the processed stuff out. I would never have thought it would make such a difference. :cloud9:

I'm afraid of the scale... but hopefully it will be agreeable. If not, I'll blame it on female factors coming up :)

QOTD: Tracking my food and drinking my water early in the day has helped me this week. Having a place to check in and see other people helps too.

I forget that i didn't gain all this weight overnight, and know that it doesn't all come off overnight. I feel so much better already, but its hard when the numbers don't reflect that as quickly as i want it to.

Well I took a nap this afternoon and woke up with a stuffy nose and no energy to exercise. So the dvd will wait until tomorrow.

Breakfast was good. I had a multigrain waffle with a banana and apple juice. Lunch wasa bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup and dinner was grilled chicken with sweet potato fries and sliced apples. I am glad that today I stuck with all water and unsweetened iced tea to drink.

I've received about 3 weigh ins so far out of 143 so I definitely don't have enough room in my in box so be patient if my box is full.

I also want to apologize ahead of time for not responding to all the PMs. If you have a specific question I will try and get back to you ASAP! But with 143 people reporting in I won't have time to get back to you all! I will post on Sunday night or Monday morning those who I am missing weigh ins from. And remember all weigh ins must be received by 7:30 pm on Monday night, NO EXCEPTIONS!

Me too. I teach dance still but just to the little ones....so a good zumba class is a blast for me!
Zumba is a big thing around here but it's not for me - there isn't enough alcohol in New York State for me to move like that!!!:rotfl2:
I am a big fan of raw veggies for snacks. Today I got some mini-cucumbers which are delicious and don't even have to be cut up. And I got a bag of mini-sweet bell peppers, which can be grabbed and eaten like an apple. And I got a cauliflower, which I'll cut up tomorrow and put into ziploc bags ready to go for snacks.

Shannon, I soooo wish I could like vegetables like that!

Good morning everyone.

Question of the Day

What is the one thing that you have done this week that is helping you along this journey?
Mine is trying to anticipate the day. I make lunches the night before and put some healthy snacks into ziplocks. But I realized that my danger time is the time between getting home and dinner - I'm liable to swallow the entire pantry if I don't hold myself back. I know I can't NOT have something; I just have to figure out what is the best (hmmm...don't think those Oreos that are calling my name are on the list!)...time to buy some baby carrots I think.

Did you get your rate? princess:
YES!!!! WOOOHOOO!

Are you kidding? If I did that, my clippie wincluding every single ounce would be at the FRONT of my post rather than the end!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I just spent TWO HOURS here replying and posting and it all just POOFED away!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

...hoping my multi-posts make it...

As for me, still so sore after yesterday. On what planet did I think that taking a boot camp class ten a tabata class would be a good idea? I was ugging the banister when I was attempting to get down the stairs today. I did a quick 3 mile treadmill run this afternoon, trying to run the kinks out. Still waiting for it to take effect....OUCH!!!! (did I mention that I have boot camp tomorrow at 5AM? Oh joy)

...off to make my lunch for tomorrow. Have a great night everyone!

Question of the Day

What is the one thing that you have done this week that is helping you along this journey?

I gave up going to Weight Watchers. Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful program - just not for me. I found I manipulated the food choices - and was eating mostly junk and lost and gained the same 20 pounds. I took that money I would have spent there and bought a Bodybugg. Strapped it on January 1, been very careful of measuring and weighing food, inputing the data into the bodybugg program, and I get a graph of where my calories are going. Protein/Carbs/Fats - then it tracks other things you may be concerned about - cholesterol, sodium, fiber, calcium. I never felt I had a lot of sodium in my diet - but a couple of days I went over the maximum for sodium. With the feedback I am getting from the Bugg, I feel more in control. Hopefully the "Honeymoon period" will last.

I just put the Biggest Loser Jump Start exercise DVD on my Ipod. It does exercises in 10 minute increments - I can run in the back of the locker room on breaks and get a little exercise in. LOL

The encouragement on this board is really keeping me focused, being involved with the challenges. Onward and downward!!! :cheer2:

Hi Donalds!

I've haven't been doing too good the last couple days as I had appointments/hauling kids around and my eating wasn't the best. It wasn't as bad as it could have been, but wasn't great.

I did go out and get EASA2. I like it (so far). I also got 30 day Shred, but I haven't done it yet.

PLEASE SEND IN YOUR WEIGHT, NOT YOUR LOSS! You can send in both but make sure you send in your actual weight! The spreadsheet calculates by your weight!

so true, I feel the same way. It is so hard to get over the need to lose weight quickly. I get very discouraged when i think about how many more weeks or months ahead I have to diet to get to where I want. But I also know i don't like the weight I am right now!

sorry I meant to attach this to CUTEDUCK223's post, not sure how to do it now.

hi - I really like the biggest loser boot camp video also, if you do one section it is a really good workout for 20 minutes. I am always sore after!

Question of the Day

What is the one thing that you have done this week that is helping you along this journey?

I'd have to say it was journaling/tracking points on WW's online tools. It makes me realize just how much I've eaten and the relationship of the food to the points. It definately helped me, but so has the water. So score one for HH points! I have managed to get my water in each and every day!

Heather

I see that there are a lot of folks losing their awesome posts. I just wanted to make a suggestion that seems to work for me.

I open up a Word file and paste all of the text from the Reply to Thread box into the Word document and I do my responding within the Word file. I save often. When I'm finished I copy from the Word file and paste it back into the Reply to Thread box over the old text. Then I add the smilies. At least if the poof fairy strikes on the DIS board I still have a copy and can try it again.

Does this make sense? I hope this helps. :goodvibes

QOTD

I rejoined WW online. Started tracking my food and started walking again. next week, back to the gym!!
