TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

I had a horrible weekend and start to the week. Bridesmaids dress shopping. What is it about those satin dresses that makes you feel so bad about yourself? There's something about that fabric that makes me look like a big blob and feel like one too. I'm having a hard time convincing myself to eat anything. I can't believe I've let myself get as big as I am. I'm so disappointed in myself.

I'm hoping the spring weather we are expecting later this week will help lift my spirits.

Good morning Donalds!

I am going to have to make this a short post. Yesterday I spent most of my day on the boards avoiding work. :confused3 Today, I have to get some actual work done! :thumbsup2

Princess Reject, thanks for the encouragement on the runs. It does seem like I could do 3.1 if I can do 2.5. I keep telling myself I will increase the distance when 2.5 is easy for me:rolleyes: You sound like you are in great shape. Is it an ultimate frisbee league that you are in? Enjoy your new WII and WII fit :cool1:

Yep, Ultimate Frisbee...I LOVE it! So far I have been enjoying the Wii...last night I spent a little over an hour trying it out and my boyfriend spent about 15 min of that time laughing his head off while I did the "Super Hula Hoop" :rotfl:

What is your best tip for keeping your life organized. Clearly we are all juggling many things and trying to keep everything running smoothly. What have you found keeps you most organized?

Well, sadly, I don't think I am very organized. :sad2: I am better at work than at home though. I tend to make a lot of lists to remind myself of the things that I need to do. The funny thing is, there are some things that I am very particular about that absolutely NEED to be orderly...and then there are lots of things that I just can't work up the energy to care about.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Okay girls.... I give up. I was literally on my LAST SENTENCE of a post that I've been working on for over an hour!! I wrote an entire NOVEL in response to the QOTD..... and one bad keystroke and it is gone!!!!! I'm sure you all understand my total frustration right now!!!!!

What is your best tip for keeping your life organized. Clearly we are all juggling many things and trying to keep everything running smoothly. What have you found keeps you most organized?

If I ever figure this out I'll let you know.... I am not the most organized person, and my DH is even worse. I try to stay on top of my daily tasks as best I as I can, but a day or 2 of not keeping up & my house is a disaster!

I need more hours in my day, or an assistant...

Are you working on weight loss for a special event?

I need a goal to keep me motivated. Right now it's the Everest Race in May with DS14.

My weight is down two pounds this week, which is great for me all by itself- but I'm most excited because my short range goal is within reach! I started this challenge at 210 and have lost a total of 10 pounds so far. However, I really wanted to reach One-derland by my birthday, which is coming up this Saturday. As long as I can pull one pound this week, I'll get there!

~Lori

Come on one-derland!!!!!

Organized!!!

BUUUWWAAAAHHHHAAAHHHHH!!!

you're funny!!!

Yeah, I am soooooo not organized!! However I did find DH's stock options paper this morning after only looking for an hour, that's some kind of record!!! :rotfl2:

OK my day yesterday:

Let's see I wanted to throw in the towel multiple times over the weekend and it overflowed into yesterday and today. I'm so frustrated with the scale and food.
I need to reevaluate. The scale is continuing to move in the wrong direction, but I have no idea where to start. Well I need to start with food but frankly I am not well versed in healthy foods, calorie counting and the what not. And I've been fighting with the kids, no matter what I cook someone has to complain. Last night it was a fight over broccoli and green beans, I mean really? Just freakin eat it!!!

I did have mom get DD yesterday and I walked/ran the green, in the snow! We had a squall yesterday about 1/2 way round the track. I didn't have a choice but the finish because one lap is 1.6 miles, I was stuck. And cold. But I went around twice which was a 5K. I wanted to see how long it would take me. It took 55 minutes to walk 3.10 miles. My average pace was 17:32, not good enough for Disney but close. At one point a decent jog was a 14 minute pace, I just need to get there consistently.

And DH got news on the job front. He was working with a company that lied to some very important people, so he left just 4 weeks after starting. He moved to the place he's at now. Well liar company just purchased the place he's at now. He's really not sure what to do. The liars sat there yesterday and were like oh we'll do great things, we are here for the people, you won't just be a number. Yada Yada..... Liars really really want him to stay but I just don't think anything has changed and DH does not need to be mixed up in their drama. We have some job options but it's going to be a crazy few months while it all gets worked out.

ARGH!!! Thanks for letting me vent!!
I need to go do housework or go somewhere before I stuff my face again.

Hello and Happy Tuesday Donalds!

QUACK *grumble* Quack! (Donald grumbles all the time, doesn't he?). Been a.w.o.l. for reasons explained below...

QOTD Sunday March 13, 2011
Have you always been overweight?

If not, how did you become overweight?

Not always, but I've always been "big boned" Bigger booty and thighs. But I never felt BIG. When I got married, I just packed it on. I like to blame the hubster for that. ;) "Feeling comfortable" meant eating crappy food non-stop. That's when the hubby and I started changing the way we ate a long time ago. It was quite a successful change and we felt good about ourselves. Then ... *dum, dum, DUM* baby happened. Then I got big again. Then, 3 years later, we found ourselves tired of the way we felt and looked. So, we're back on the eating less and eating the right kind of foods again. Fingers crossed we can keep it up this time.

QOTD Monday March 13, 2011
Are you working on weight loss for a special event?

So, I've been absent(minded?) for a few reasons. Weekends are always hectic. But, the bigger reason which is related to the above QOTD, is that I twisted my husband's arm into letting me book our anniversary vacation at Disney. :woohoo: It was either that or 7 days on a beach in Cancun and I know which one my 4 year old would enjoy more. Anywho, one of the reasons I'm focused on doing a good job is that I want to look good for our Disney trip. :yay:

Hope everyone's week goes by relatively smoothly.

PHEW... down almost another whole pound. Did my dancing with the stars workout and now I am stinky and sweaty LOL and I only have an hour before we have to leave for DD's dance class. So what am I doing? hanging out on the dis instead of hopping in the shower LOL. Gotta get to that

hope you are all having a great day :D

Hope so too - totally get what you are saying.

Hi everybody. Just taking a quick minute to check in.

Still very stressful at work, cannot wait until this week is over. Have a two day trial that is just going to be horrible and I am very concerned about it.

Hope it goes well.

Am eating OP, but not getting much exercise in. Have another appointment tonight - hoping to get out tomorrow night

QOTD - have two to answer.

The first is whether or not I am trying to lose weight for a specific event.

Seems like I have tried to do that forever - I was going to lose weight for a wedding, a trip, when I finished university, etc.

Now I am fixated on the Disney half in 2013 - I really want to get that done!

As for staying organized - I use checklists, my assistant and my I Phone. So many cool applications and places to record things.

Also use My Net Diary and Nike plus GPS.

Best thing I ever bought for myself personally and professionally.

Have a "magical day" as they say in Disney.

Linda

:wave2:
Busy day running here and there. Picked DD15 up early from school and we went to read in DD11's class for Read Across America. Then she needed a braces repair so we got that done, did a little shopping and back to pick up DD11 after a club meeting.

My dishwasher hasn't been working well and we think DH fixed it last night but my kitchen is a disaster with the fall out. We really never go out to eat 3x in a week but I think we are going out again tonight. I am not in the mood to cook, don't really have time to make what was planned, and have been dying to try this new Chinese Buffet that just opened near us. Everyone is raving about it! So I am making a conscious decision that I will probably not make it to ONE-derland this week since there has been 2 run ins with some Chex mix, and I want to enjoy trying this new place. I will do my best and will be back on program tomorrow but am going to enjoy some carbs tonight!:dance3:

Tonight is my women's club monthly dinner and I never know what to expect there. All I know is the name of the restaurant is Rat Rat...don't even know what kind of food!
I really, really hope that translates to something wonderful in German! I think I would have to put "never to go a restaurant with RAT in the name" high on my list of things to remember! :rotfl: I also really don't understand who thought that "The Yak and Yeti" was a good name for the place in AK. I don't care how it is supposed to be read, it always comes out as The Yakking Yeti to me!

Organized!!!

BUUUWWAAAAHHHHAAAHHHHH!!!

you're funny!!!

I do live by my calendar. I have to have to have to have things on it or there is no way I keep up with things. BUT, currently I have 3 calendars going, one on my computer, one written planner (that I can't actually find right now :headache:) and a big family calendar on the wall. But of course none of the 3 say the same things. And if you need something from me that I have I need several hours notice (at least) to try to dig and find it. Say a prayer because it is likely never to be found!

I did well at the pot luck. Had a plate with small samples of a lot of different foods, stayed away from the cake, and had one small serving of grapenut custard.
grapenut custard? I would love to know more about that.

I had a horrible weekend and start to the week. Bridesmaids dress shopping. What is it about those satin dresses that makes you feel so bad about yourself? There's something about that fabric that makes me look like a big blob and feel like one too. .
I used to work in a bridal shop. Trust me, NO ONE looks good in those dresses. Tall, fat, short, skinny they make everyone look like a blob in satin. Ever notice how close that word is to satan? There is a reason. . . .

That is only a few hours of your life in that dress then you can burn it. Keep on program and focus on the positive changes you have made.:thumbsup2

And I've been fighting with the kids, no matter what I cook someone has to complain. Last night it was a fight over broccoli and green beans, I mean really? Just freakin eat it!!!
Buffy, your job as a mother is to PROVIDE them with healthy food. It is not your job to make them eat it. Offer the things you want them to be eating but please don't try to force them to eat it. Many people with food issues started out because of the control issues over food with parents. I do request that my kids have a small bite of everything, but if I know they absolutely hate something I am not going to force the issue. I won't take a bite of green pepper or onion and I certainly don't want anyone to argue with me over that. Sometimes I have 2 options available, one I know they will eat and one that they won't and other times they have one options, take it or leave it.

I also try not to have junk food all over the pantry and to have plenty of healthy choices available and ready to grab, like sliced cheese, prepared celery and carrot sticks, fruit, granola bars etc... I don't prevent them from eating junk, but there is just not much in the house so they have to pick something else.

We have a joke in my house that started when DD15 was very young, probably around 3. We were at my In-laws and the grown ups were going to eat after she went to bed. I told her that I was making X for her for dinner (can't remember what now) and she made a face. So I said well I can make you Y if you would rather have that, and I got a face again. So I listed her choices. You can have:
A: X
B: Y
C: you can starve
MIL about had a cow when I said that but DD picked one of the other 2 options! Since then we will discuss the choices and a reminder that C is always an option. (we just have to say "C" and the kids know that means starve)

I don't allow the kids to complain or to comment negatively on what is served-- unless an opinion is asked and even then it needs to be constructive criticism, not "that sucked". But I don't argue with them or try to force them to eat. However if you choose not to eat what is offered at dinner then you don't get to come back later and ask for or make something else. I promise, they won't starve.

And DH got news on the job front. He was working with a company that lied to some very important people, so he left just 4 weeks after starting. He moved to the place he's at now. Liars really really want him to stay but I just don't think anything has changed and DH does not need to be mixed up in their drama.
NO WAY! That is practically the same thing that happened to DH a few months ago! Not liars, but total jerks. Fortunately the absolute jerks left not long after he quit (and started a competing company and got the pants sued off of them because of their non-compete contracts!) and DH had left on good terms but he did have issues with the way the company did things and really isn't sure he wants to be working for them again.

You have been doing an AMAZING job! :cheer2::cheer2: You really have taken on this new way of doing things with a great attitude and have great momentum! Keep on going!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I forgot to answer yesterday's QOTD, but I have no special event I am working towards. I have had somethings going on the last year that mentally had me planning to use this year to focus on me and on getting myself healthy. I sort of lived it up and enjoyed the bad stuff without limitation for a while last year and now I am enjoying the good stuff and the rewards that go with it.

Have to go and get the 2nd load of dishes for the day going and chisel Choc. chex mix off the counters and floor. See you all tomorrow-- AFTER I go to the gym!:rolleyes1

Biggest Loser 11 Spring Challenge Week 10 Team Donald!
This week’s group loss is 2.5 lbs.
Average percentage of weight lost .34 %
Total group weight loss so far 552.6 pounds!

AWESOME!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of the week? This time I’ve done a TOP 10 LIST ! That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get! (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

Well darn. Now I kind of feel guilty about going out out eat tonight and not focusing on reaching Onederland. :guilty:

CONGRATULATIONS 50sJayne!:cheer2:

Well I need to start with food but frankly I am not well versed in healthy foods, calorie counting and the what not. .

Totally forgot that I wanted to offer some advice on this too.

Reverse Journaling.

Come and join us on the Meal Planning thread. Set aside an hour to sit down and make a list and decide what your meals for 5-7 days will be. ALL your meals. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2 snacks. I find it helps if I make a list of all my breakfast options, all my lunch options etc... and add in the important information like WW points or calories and fat, whatever I am tracking.

Then you go ahead and write your journal for the week right then and there. Instead of writing down what you ate, you are writing down what you WILL eat. And that is what you eat. If it isn't in the journal you don't eat it. Post the list on the refrigerator door. Try to find a few hours to prep things like putting crackers in individual serving baggies, slice cheese, cut veggies etc so it is quick and easy when you don't have time. Make yourself a "lunch bag" and put your food for the day in a brown bag in the refrigerator. The yogurt, veggies, salad dressing, whatever you have planned for so when you need something you go to that bag.

You can go ahead and do this on line in Spark People (not sure about the other one, Fit day?) and it will count it all for you.

I know I sound like a broken record when I say how much I love South Beach but if you are having problems tracking calories or points or whatever then it really may be an easier option for you. No counting, very little measuring. If it is allowed you can have it and if it isn't you skip it or limit it.

Have to run right now but you know you can PM me or post here if want to talk more. Or just ignore me! My family does!:lmao:

ETA: Forgot to say the reason to join us on the Planning thread is so you can post what your plan is and ask for advice if you would like on what changes might need to be made or things to add in.

:wave2:

I do live by my calendar. I have to have to have to have things on it or there is no way I keep up with things. I have MobileMe which is really nice. I can put something on my phone calendar, and it syncs to the house calendar on my laptop and to DH's calendar at work. I love it, everyone is color coded too so it makes it really easy to keep everyone straight. I also sync DS14's stuff right to his phone too.

Nope, never make them eat anything. My dad made us do that and I hated it!! The only rule is that if you've never had it before you have to try it.

We have A,B, and C too. But if I let them they would choose B every time (cereal or a sandwich, both they can make themselves). What just frustrates me is that they think I'm a short order cook, I won't make 6 meals.

I do have plenty of healthy stuff, not tons of junk, but dang they eat the healthy stuff faster then I can! I'm usually left with the crap because they've eaten all the good stuff.

So, they've been buttering DH up all day. He's not buying it!!!

Congrats TEAM DONALD for winning the week again! The difference was .3 of a pound!

Only one more week until we merge!!!!

Keep up the good work!!!!

UGH. That was a total waste of calories, fat, carbs, time and money. Several people I know have raved that this is the best Chinese food they have had so I have been dying to try it. OMG! If that is true then I really, really don't want to know where they have been eating. It was bad.:crazy2: I will give them credit that the quality of their Hibachi beef and pork was better than I have usually seen, and they refurbished the restaurant beautifully. But it was the same bland, boring, nasty, icky buffet food you find at most every mediocre or less low cost Chinese buffet.

While I ate more than I should have to be on program I certainly didn't eat anything near what I expected to. And I really didn't eat much else today in anticipation of this so I think I am going to be quadruple good the next few days and see if I can still get a loss this week.

I find it helps if I make a list of all my breakfast options, all my lunch options etc... and add in the important information like WW points or calories and fat, whatever I am tracking.

I've been reading but missed today. I didn't pos only because I didn't have anything to offer.
I'm really considering some sort of meal plan. Biggest loser, medifast, Jenny Craig, South beach, something. I need to just get the ball rolling for myself, and just feed to family something different.

Argh! I just wish DH were home so I didn't feel so overwhelmed!! If he were here I could focus on the food part while he was helping with homework and entertaining the kids.

UGH. That was a total waste of calories, fat, carbs, time and money.

I'm sorry it was a waste!!! It is soooo hard to find good chinese!

OK, need to vent!!!

Mom guilt is kicking in big time over this 5K at Disney.
I really really want to go, I need this goal to keep me motivated. But now I'm feeling guilty about spending the money. I'm having a really hard time justifying the price of flights.

DH had talked about all of us driving down but then that jacks to price up even more. I would love for them to be there but Gaahh!!! I don't know what to do.

I know if I drop this race I may just end up falling completely off the wagon. I can not afford to do that!!

I need some guidance! Talk me down people, talk me down!!
