Busy day running here and there. Picked DD15 up early from school and we went to read in DD11's class for Read Across America. Then she needed a braces repair so we got that done, did a little shopping and back to pick up DD11 after a club meeting.
My dishwasher hasn't been working well and we think DH fixed it last night but my kitchen is a disaster with the fall out. We really never go out to eat 3x in a week but I think we are going out again tonight. I am not in the mood to cook, don't really have time to make what was planned, and have been dying to try this new Chinese Buffet that just opened near us. Everyone is raving about it! So I am making a conscious decision that I will probably not make it to ONE-derland this week since there has been 2 run ins with some Chex mix, and I want to enjoy trying this new place. I will do my best and will be back on program tomorrow but am going to enjoy some carbs tonight!
Tonight is my women's club monthly dinner and I never know what to expect there. All I know is the name of the restaurant is Rat Rat...don't even know what kind of food!
I really, really hope that translates to something wonderful in German! I think I would have to put "never to go a restaurant with RAT in the name" high on my list of things to remember!

I also really don't understand who thought that "The Yak and Yeti" was a good name for the place in AK. I don't care how it is supposed to be read, it always comes out as The Yakking Yeti to me!
QOTD Tuesday March 14, 2011
What is your best tip for keeping your life organized. Clearly we are all juggling many things and trying to keep everything running smoothly. What have you found keeps you most organized?
I am going to have to go with Buffy's answer here. . .
Oraganized??
HAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHA

HA
Organized!!!
BUUUWWAAAAHHHHAAAHHHHH!!!
you're funny!!!
I do live by my calendar. I have to have to have to have things on it or there is no way I keep up with things. BUT, currently I have 3 calendars going, one on my computer, one written planner (that I can't actually find right now

) and a big family calendar on the wall. But of course none of the 3 say the same things. And if you need something from me that I have I need several hours notice (at least) to try to dig and find it. Say a prayer because it is likely never to be found!
I did well at the pot luck. Had a plate with small samples of a lot of different foods, stayed away from the cake, and had one small serving of grapenut custard.
grapenut custard? I would love to know more about that.
I had a horrible weekend and start to the week. Bridesmaids dress shopping. What is it about those satin dresses that makes you feel so bad about yourself? There's something about that fabric that makes me look like a big blob and feel like one too. .
I used to work in a bridal shop. Trust me, NO ONE looks good in those dresses. Tall, fat, short, skinny they make everyone look like a blob in satin. Ever notice how close that word is to satan? There is a reason. . . .
That is only a few hours of your life in that dress then you can burn it. Keep on program and focus on the positive changes you have made.

I need to reevaluate. The scale is continuing to move in the wrong direction, but I have no idea where to start. Well I need to start with food but frankly I am not well versed in healthy foods, calorie counting and the what not. And I've been fighting with the kids, no matter what I cook someone has to complain. Last night it was a fight over broccoli and green beans, I mean really? Just freakin eat it!!!
Buffy, your job as a mother is to PROVIDE them with healthy food. It is not your job to make them eat it. Offer the things you want them to be eating but please don't try to force them to eat it. Many people with food issues started out because of the control issues over food with parents. I do request that my kids have a small bite of everything, but if I know they absolutely hate something I am not going to force the issue. I won't take a bite of green pepper or onion and I certainly don't want anyone to argue with me over that. Sometimes I have 2 options available, one I know they will eat and one that they won't and other times they have one options, take it or leave it.
I also try not to have junk food all over the pantry and to have plenty of healthy choices available and ready to grab, like sliced cheese, prepared celery and carrot sticks, fruit, granola bars etc... I don't prevent them from eating junk, but there is just not much in the house so they have to pick something else.
We have a joke in my house that started when DD15 was very young, probably around 3. We were at my In-laws and the grown ups were going to eat after she went to bed. I told her that I was making X for her for dinner (can't remember what now) and she made a face. So I said well I can make you Y if you would rather have that, and I got a face again. So I listed her choices. You can have:
A: X
B: Y
C: you can starve
MIL about had a cow when I said that but DD picked one of the other 2 options! Since then we will discuss the choices and a reminder that C is always an option. (we just have to say "C" and the kids know that means starve)
I don't allow the kids to complain or to comment negatively on what is served-- unless an opinion is asked and even then it needs to be constructive criticism, not "that sucked". But I don't argue with them or try to force them to eat. However if you choose not to eat what is offered at dinner then you don't get to come back later and ask for or make something else. I promise, they won't starve.
And DH got news on the job front. He was working with a company that lied to some very important people, so he left just 4 weeks after starting. He moved to the place he's at now. Well liar company just purchased the place he's at now. He's really not sure what to do. The liars sat there yesterday and were like oh we'll do great things, we are here for the people, you won't just be a number. Yada Yada..... Liars really really want him to stay but I just don't think anything has changed and DH does not need to be mixed up in their drama.
NO WAY! That is practically the same thing that happened to DH a few months ago! Not liars, but total jerks. Fortunately the absolute jerks left not long after he quit (and started a competing company and got the pants sued off of them because of their non-compete contracts!) and DH had left on good terms but he did have issues with the way the company did things and really isn't sure he wants to be working for them again.
PHEW... down almost another whole pound. Did my dancing with the stars workout and now I am stinky and sweaty LOL and I only have an hour before we have to leave for DD's dance class. So what am I doing? hanging out on the dis instead of hopping in the shower LOL. Gotta get to that
You have been doing an AMAZING job!

You really have taken on this new way of doing things with a great attitude and have great momentum! Keep on going!

I forgot to answer yesterday's QOTD, but I have no special event I am working towards. I have had somethings going on the last year that mentally had me planning to use this year to focus on me and on getting myself healthy. I sort of lived it up and enjoyed the bad stuff without limitation for a while last year and now I am enjoying the good stuff and the rewards that go with it.
Have to go and get the 2nd load of dishes for the day going and chisel Choc. chex mix off the counters and floor. See you all tomorrow-- AFTER I go to the gym!
