Teacup Ettiquite

Happened to us on the AK Safari. A family behind us squeezed into our row with us. Mind you, we were a group of 4 and they were, too. LOL. Thankfully the CM got them off, but it took a minute or two since there was a language barrier. I think they were confused because at safari they line up the "next" group behind each other near boarding. I never had teacup crashers before though.
This happened to us on the Safari too. We were a party of 6 (4 adults & 2 children) so the CM split us into 2 rows. Me, my mom, & DD6 were in one row and DW, her mom, & DD2 were in the row in front of us. After we boarded, the 2 adults in line behind my MIL came up and squeezed into the row with them. I don't know if they just didn't see DD2 in between DW & MIL, but they asked my MIL if she could move over a bit. She politely said no & pointed out DD2 sitting next to her. At that point I thought the couple might realize their mistake and get off, but they didn't. It can't have been a very comfortable ride for them but its their fault for squeezing in when it wasn't their turn!

The rows of the safari hold more than 2 people. There are times when CM's double load a row (see my prior post). In those cases they usually specifically tell guests to wait for the NEXT truck - and guests don't always listen.

But the safari rows DO seat more than 2 people, and in this case, I think your party was the one in error!

I've always wondered why the CM's have to tell people three/four/five times to make room for everyone when boarding the Jungle Cruise!

Are you also the folks that block the doorway of the monorail so your party of six has a whole compartment to yourself?
If you re-read my post, you will see that we were a party of 6, 4 adults and 2 children. The CM split us up into 2 rows, with 2 adults and 1 child per row. The 2 adults that came in behind us could not comfortably fit into the row with the 3 of us already seated there. A 2-year-old still counts as a person and does take up space on the seat. I don't think its unreasonable to not want to be squished up against a stranger when it's 90+ degrees out and everyone is hot & sweaty. I am fine with moving all the way to the end of a row, etc, but there is no reason to cram people in like sardines and make everyone uncomfortable. I get enough of that on my daily subway commute.

I'm glad to see you edited your original post...

But maybe you haven't reread Ava's post or seen siskaren's post.
There were already three people in each row. Not two. So no, her party was not the one in error.

The rows of the safari ride seat five if one is a child. I've shared rows with others a number of times on this ride. It slightly depends how crowded the park is, and the configuration of the crowd. On busy days, CM's try to fill the trucks as much as possible. CM's sometimes clearly announce guests might have to share their row to make room for everyone.

Okay, so misread two vs. three. The image should help clarify. It clearly shows four adults in multiple rows. I have a picture up in my house of my extended family sitting five across, it just isn't digital, so found this one quickly to illustrate my point.

Yeah, if it was so important to them to get on that truck, they should have split themselves up, not squashed others.

And the teacup thing... Nope. Not any sort of "magical moment" in my opinion. It sounds uncomfortable. Though if I had to guess, I'd say it was just a misunderstanding and not an effort to do something rude.

Those rows (especially the first one) look pretty smooshed with 4 people. I can't imagine even a child having enough room in a row that already has 4 adults.

Really not sure where you see room for a fifth person in these rows. Even if that person is small...

The only way I can see a child fitting in any of those rows with four adults is if it were still in the mother's womb. The rows with four look full to me without the added child.

I don't see room for a child to sit in any of those rows with 4 adults seated. I don't have a problem sharing a row with others on a ride, if there is space for everyone to sit comfortably. In our case, because of the way the CM divided our group 3 and 3, there wasn't.

There is only room for 4 adults and a child if one of the adults is seriously tiny or the child is a lap baby.

Maybe this is an urban vs. rural/suburban thing. Having lived in an urban area, and having ridden subways/metros many times, the idea of sharing space with others tends to disappear pretty quickly.

One day, you board the day tired, and a stranger makes room for you to sit.....

I live in New York City and ride the subway every day. I'm not sure what this has to do with it. Being next to strangers doesn't bother me, and I will make space for others if there is space to make. If there is no space, or not enough space, there's not much I can do about it.

All I can say is, if someone gets on teacups with DS & I, I hope they like spinning. A lot. We both crank as hard as we can and he's a firefighter used to lifting weights and dragging around hoses.

I read this that as "dragging around horses" and trying to visualize what those horses do for the fireman or do they still use the old pump trucks .............

Nah, it wasn't me, but I can understand why someone would insist on riding in the purple teacup...

Okay you got me googling and I see that on numerous locations it is stated that at both parks, the purple teacups go faster.............great, another bucket list item ... fight for the purple cup.

They might have meant the cards Astro orbiter hands out. I've never gotten a card on dumbo either.

Does WDW not hand out magic feathers for Dumbo? That's sad. We love that touch at DL.

Not that I've ever gotten although that would be a great touch. At WDW they just open up the gate and let everyone pick whatever elephant they want.

At DL they ask how many elephants your party needs and you get one feather per elephant. It means they only let people or groups with a feather in and there are only as many feathers as elephants. You can go pick your elephant, but if there are 4 of you they know if you're taking 2 elephants or 4.
