Teacup Ettiquite

I don't think this was rude, just not knowing. At many rides guests are directed to fill every available seat, or fill all available space.

Next time, politely speak up.

That is freaking bizarre. If there was room for them to have their own cup, why would they want to squeeze in with another family and make EVERYBODY uncomfortable? I guess there are some people who just have fun making sure other people aren't having fun.

Strange and socially inappropriate. It would be like having strangers climb in a Doom Buggy or AstroOrbiter or Dumbo with me......o_O there is unavoidable touching.

We ride each trip:
- they always ask us how many in our party, counting the groups as they enter the holding corral
- I have never had an attendant shut our door or do anything but walk around
- As soon as we pick our teacup and sit, we shut the door ourselves aka this teacup is closed
- If someone had actually gotten in AND I chose to stay....
I agree I would be in control of the steering wheel and after figuring out what they want, would likely do the opposite :D

My first reaction was that I haven't had anyone crash our teacup, but I'm having a very clear memory of riding with a child I don't know along with my own DD. I can't remember how that came about though - the mom or the CM must have asked us...

That's bizarre! I have gladly never had this happen but probably because DBF and I hustle to our teacup and shut the door ASAP.

I also must say the attendant at the queue has always asked how many in each party.

OP, I'm sorry this happened to you, I wouldn't have been as nice as you haha!

Me and my sister had this happen to us in July! It was a group that tried coming into our teacup but I managed to slam the door shut before they could step on. It was rude of me, probably, but it was a grown man and two teenage sons running at our teacup at full speed and it was very awkward for two teenage girls riding alone. They started trying to talk us into letting them in with us until the CM found them another teacup to go into. The weird thing was, there were other empty teacups. They just were determined to get in our cup!

Now if there were a young child wanting to ride and they are alone I would probably be okay with it.

Oh my, I almost spit out my tea. Teacup stalkers ... or maybe it was just their lucky cup. Maybe they need numbers on the ground like Aladdin.

One time my mom and I were riding TTA. We were on the forward facing side of the car. An older couple jumped in and took the other side and we were staring at each other! I just think they didn't know they should take the next one.

That is absolutely bizarre and for DH and I would be very uncomfortable as we are both Pooh sized and tall so the teacups just fit the two of us, as we need all the room for our legs. We always close our door as soon as we get in, and I would speak up to someone trying to sneak in to our cup.

Were there actually empty teacups left over or was this just a matter of musical chairs gone bad?

I'd say clueless or dumb luck over rude. I'm pretty sure the family didn't intentionally want to crowd the teacup unless they liked that particular color or something...

Rude is people taking middle of the row seats in Philharmagic forcing everyone else to crawl around them. :)

There were empty teacups, which they had to walk past (I was near the exit).

Believe it or not, I watched soooooo many people do that at Philhamagic today too! We went right to the end and they sat dead in the middle. Every other row followed instructions and people had to walk the whole way around to get a seat down our end because they wouldn't move or let them through!

Sounds to me like 2 teenage boys thought 2 teenage girls were cute and convinced Dad to go along with their plot to meet you!

I just cringed from the uncomfortableness of this - I mean the teacups last what? A minute or two? As opposed to 10 minutes of awkwardness...o_O You are facing each other - so you feel compelled to have conversation or you feel like you can't have a personal conversation. I'm a friendly person, but that would stress me out.

I would have had THE MOST personal conversation - even if it were made up...JUST BECAUSE. But yeah, that's just me.

I would have spun it like crazy, but we were so jammed in that the spinner didn't move!!! I think I was most disappointed that I couldn't get any revenge

All swell that ends well - went back and had another ride - solo
