I have been seaching HIGH and LOW for anything Disney to decorate my classroom.

In particular I am looking for bulletin board border and pictures of the characters.

I can make in on my own with my scrapbooking punch but that will take forever.

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

Could you use wallpaper border for the bulletin board? They have some on clearance at disneyshopping right now, plus I've seen it at Walmart, too.... just a thought.... Sometimes Dollar Tree has Disney decorations and they have a "teacher" section so maybe they'd have what you're looking for.... Best of luck!

Check the fabric depts for disney print. you can cover bullentin boards with that. I havent seen BFF's room yet but she is a disney nut!

Thanks for the idea of fabric but I have cinder block walls and no "offical" bulletin board. The border was going to make a frame on the wall that would improvise as a bulletin board. I also was going to use the border like crown molding.

Keep the ideas comming!

you might want to check scrapbooking stores. They do have die cuts that are disney. It just might be hard to find.

I also know that they have new Disney die cuts but they are coming out in Sept. The product is at provo craft.

Check the scrapbooking board on this site...maybe they can give you some more info.

You sound like a FUN teacher!

You're a teacher after my own heart!!

I've never seen bulletin board borders in Disney prints - but as someone else said - you could use wallpaper border.

You could also cut up some wrapping paper - or use a Disney tablecloth from the party section!

I've got some wall appliques in classic Mickey characters, Pooh characters and Tinkerbell that I got last year at the Dollar store. They worked great - and only $1!!

They didn't have any more this year - but you could go to Home Depot and get some that go with their Disney collection - and you could use the paint chips to decorate a plain border!

I've seen a number of Disney things at Dollar Tree. One place to look is in the "Home" section, I've seen Disney wallies (I guess that's what they are called). They stick on the wall. I've also seen them at Sears near the paint.

Hi there!
Teacher here--how about printing some of the coloring pages from playhousedisney.com, having the kids color them during "free-time" (between arriving at school & the bell, after seat work is finished, etc.?)
My sister-in-law also just did a disney-theme bedroom for her daughter by purchasing black & red polka-dot self-stick wall clings from home depot or lowes or somewhere . . . and I made bedspreads from disney fabric (from Joann's, I think . . .) You could always do a red/black theme of borders adn add the details . . . Anyway, for what it's worth, that's my experience!!! Best of luck! (My own last classroom--I'm a SAHM now--was Pooh Bear--before he was popular--I'm sure you'll find something : )

What grade do you teach?
Are you looking for any Disney or specific characters?

Some ideas I could come up with - going with a Mickey Mouse theme:

* Get some type of Mickey Mouse Clock - great for helping teach time and a nice accent piece.

* Purchase MM stickers and put onto totes or any storage containers.

* There are also smaller containers like sanwich size and small bowls that you can find at $1 stores or targets hot spot and already have characters on them. You can use these for storing paper clips, crayons, smaller items in the classroom.

* For your faux bulletin board - purchase a square/rectangular vinyl table cloth in either red/white checks or a solid color, say red. Get the Red/White/Black paint chips from Home Depot and make a tile border around the table cloth. I would stagger the paint chips around it overlapping instead of straight edge to edge but whatever you like for display.

* If you have stuffed characters at home you can accent in out of reach places - on top of bookcases with them. Visual touches but not kid touchable. Depending on their size they could be holding poster board size signs for certain areas - book corner, play area, if your room is sectioned or he could be used to hold a sign for the date, weather, season, you get the drift.

* Check home depot/lowe's for wall decals - there are a couple varieties - you can check EBay to see styles.

* Check your local Michaels/A.C. Moore for more ideas.

Once you have decorated you'll have to post pictures of what you decided to do!

If you need a lanyard, I've got several extra. I know you didn't mention that kind of thing, but my neighbor and her students enjoys the one one I gave her.

I don't want to cause any trouble (I really don't!)...but...I'm surprised that the school would allow use of commercial characters like that in a classroom. Maybe I'm very misinformed, do schools care about how teachers decorate classrooms? My kids enter K-garten in two weeks and this post got me thinking....

My kids love Disney characters, don't get me wrong, but I personally wouldn't want them to be surrounded by them in an educational environment.

My daughter starts 1st grade in two weeks. Her teacher is a disney addict!! We got a welcome packet yesterday that had disney characters on it, and also her name tags on the desks, her lunch tag board and my daughters school bus tag are all disney characters. My dd is Aurora!! She was sooo excited. I think it is nice. Her teacher is absolutely wonderful and we are excited for this year, it is going to be great. The room looks so cute decorated in disney and makes the kids really happy. I can't say too many good things about this wonderful teacher!!

I think Disney makes everyone feel great! I am doing my classroom in Disney! I have found so much at the dollar stores and different craft stores in my area!!

I think it is a great idea... I really don't care too much for the "traditional" school signs and decor - so boring!

You have not caused any trouble....:goodvibes

For clarification -- this for a classroom in a private school - 5th/6th grade class -- 6 students.

I only WISHED that any of my teachers (public school) would have decorated their classrooms -- they were are all boring! The attempt is to make a VERY small classroom enjoyable -- not an amusement park.

Example - Jiminy Cricket (let your conscience be the guide...) will cover the "class rules"...etc. No Princess, no Pirate, no Incrediables just the traditional characters - Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Mini and Jiminy you get the picture.

You would be surprised what is out there for Teachers to decorate their rooms with -- Suzy's Zoo, Mary Engelbreit, Traditional, Peanuts, Dr. Seuss just to name a few. The classroom decorations pretty much come out of the Teachers own funds so "many" (not all) decided that they don't want to spend that kind of money to decorate. I understand.

I would hope that the Teacher that gets my DS6 in 1st grade next year has a classroom that is fun as well as educational. :cool1:

Thanks, but I have a few already from our previous trips. But what you did do was give me the idea to use a lanyard for each of the following: "Rest Room Pass", "Library Pass", "Office Pass" etc.

Great Ideas.... Keep them coming!

Near the "gumball machines" @ TRU there usually are sticker machines, they are individual stickers, most are 25c some 50c but they are a nice size, about palm-size and they could go on signage, hall passes, your post-it cube etc. then just do the colors through-out your room (mustard and red for pooh: ) (Red, black and yellow & white for ::MickeyMo) (Blues for Ariel etc)
Hope this helps.

Had to add this, I just saw several wallboarders on sale @ Disney outlet.com 3.99 for 5yds!

This is an old thread, but I am gonna give it a bump because I am in the same situation. I am looking for some fabulous ideas to decorate my preschool classroom with. I am "stuck" for ideas so maybe you all fabulous people can help me out.

In my DD's room we bought the Mickey "stickers" to decorate with. They come off fairly easily. Not sure how they work on cinder block though-I had a classroom like that once and not much stuck.

I teach Geography (6th grade) and was thinking of using It's A Small World as a theme so there is yet another idea.

Stealing the Jiminy idea for next year!!

Ask around to local businesses for a donatin of a white board or a bulletin board. I got a free one from a parent. If you get a bulletin board, I used wire ribbon as a border this year. Much cheaper than the paper borders and reusable. Although I slacked and still have up the fall one!! Shh....

I started a Disney Themed classroom 5 years ago and most of my decorations come from my students. They love buying little, and some not so little, items for the room. So my suggestion is to start small, it's amazing how quickly your collection will grow.
