Teachers, I need help finding Disney stuff for my classroom

If you used a piece of Disney material for a bulletin board you could attach things to it with pins or velcro. I bought a piece of homosoap board from a local lumber yard for a buttetin board in my classroom and it would hold staples and was cheaper then a cork board. It was a type of wallboard .

I don't want to cause any trouble (I really don't!)...but...I'm surprised that the school would allow use of commercial characters like that in a classroom. Maybe I'm very misinformed, do schools care about how teachers decorate classrooms? My kids enter K-garten in two weeks and this post got me thinking....

My kids love Disney characters, don't get me wrong, but I personally wouldn't want them to be surrounded by them in an educational environment.

My daughter started kindergarden last year. We were sooo excited (I think I was more excited than her) but when we walked into her classroom, there were disney characters everywhere (traditional ones). Their necklace they had to wear the first 2 weeks of school was mickey hat shaped with their name and teacher's name on it. And on the first week of school, every morning the teacher meet them at the bus stop with a mickey hat on. It was great. My son starts kindergarden this year, I'm SOOO hoping that he will be in her class. I am glad that she decorated her room in disney characters.

As a preschool teacher myself I always rely on the dollar stores especially Dollar Tree. One idea you can probably do is to get a soild color border and just add the stickers to it. All can probably be bought from the dollar store. I hope this helps.

I really love the idea of usingstickers on solid borders. Wonderful idea! I am off to the dollar tree to search for Disney stuff.

Another teacher here...One of the teachers in first grade used a red with white polka dots border. She used it for red ribbon week but I think you could create a darling Minnie board with that one! I've seen the same border at CM Teaching Supplies.

I was thinking about this for next year. I think I'm going to do a bulletin board with a black background (prob. black butcher paper), and maybe a silver border. Then, I'm going to cut out mickey heads or "borrow" some from Home Depot...

understated but a little Mickey is fun!

What Disney themed ideas did the teacher have? I'm looking for anything because I want my classroom to be Disney themed!

Etsy is your friend! I paid someone last year to do mickey stuff for me from a cricket. It was super cheap and I got a lot!!

I also bought lots of Disney colored fabric (bright yellow, blue, and red) and a red/white polka dot border I put around black fabric. I used Walt Disney quotes all around the top of the classroom that apply to kids and their work. my kids love the room!

I know I want to do Disney Theme. I'm not sure if its going to be classic movies or just everything. I think I want to do everything because the kids are more familiar with princesses and the pixar movies. But I'm still waiting to see if I get a job. :) I hope I get to teach kindergarten.

You could print out some of Walt's famous quotes like "If you can dream it you can do it". and hang them on the wall or board. I have some framed that I keep on the wall in the school room of our little homeschool for encouragement for both me and the kids!

I teach Kindergarten and Disney was my theme. This was my second year using it for a theme and all my kids loved it! I went a bit overboard but I loved it., here are some things I did

For borders; I punched out yellow/black/red mickey heads. I used a red border (From school store) and did a pattern of yellow/black. I also used a yellow border (from school store) and did a pattern of red/black

For behavior I had "Green Mickey" "Yellow Mickey" and "Red Mickey" which was mickey heads.

Everything i did in my classroom; whether it was paper, background paper, i used either red/black/yellow.

I painted a dowel black and glued an athena topper on it for a pointer.

Each table was a group "Mickey Table" "Donaly Table" etc. I taped down a picture in the middle of the tables.

For my line up squares, i cut out Mickey Footprints and they lined up on them.

I used my old Disney mugs for decorations

I painted a paint stick black and taped clip art of a mickey hand on the end, they used this to raise their hand.

On their cubies, i used a Mickey Head with a number on it for labeling.

For the beginning of year, i cut out Mickey Ears and wrote their names on it.

I had my sister-in-law paint a picture of "Mickey and the Gang" and wrote "Welcome to Our Clubhouse".

Our school theme was circus, so I had a picture of Mickey dressed as a ringleader and it said "The Greatest Classroom on Earth"

I did lots more but that's what I can think of right now. I am looking to see if I have pictures so I can post them

I teach high school and I incorporate a little in my classroom.....

My favorite - puzzles. I have multiple puzzles - including the THomas Kinkade puzzles. I set them up and when the students are finished with assignments, they can go work on the current puzzle

I glue them and frame them after a group finishes them. We complete 1 to 2 a year (they don't have a lot of free time in my room..lol)

Could you use wallpaper border for the bulletin board? They have some on clearance at disneyshopping right now, plus I've seen it at Walmart, too.... just a thought.... Sometimes Dollar Tree has Disney decorations and they have a "teacher" section so maybe they'd have what you're looking for.... Best of luck!

(Underlining mine..) That's exactly what I was going to say! :goodvibes
As well as Dollar Stores being a gold mine for various Disney items..

If you have more than one in your area (Dollar Store; Dollar Tree; Yankee Dollar; etc.), make sure you check them all out because they don't usually carry the exact same merchandise as their competitors do..

Good luck - and have fun! Sounds like a great idea..:goodvibes

Bump! I need some ideas for 5th graders..

I have a plaque hanging that says, "Have a Magical Day!" :thumbsup2

such a cute thread! I love all the ideas people have. I wish one of my kids teachers would do a Disney themed room!!!! They have all the usual "teacher" decor.

I teach first grade and I made my own pointers using Mickey Antenna balls. I bought the dowels at Michaels, little plastic stoppers for the other end (I think I had to go to Home Depot for these, who I am sure has the dowels too). I sanded the one side down a bit to jam it into the Mickey head a voila! I think it cost me like $1 plus the price of the antenna ball. My kids love them! I had them in 3rd grade too and they also thought they were fun.

bumping - any other ideas?

I'm planning to do a Disney theme (some-what) next year. I already know for my bulletin board at the beginning of the year - I want to do UP, with the house and staple blown-up balloons to the board to look like it is pulling the house up like in the movie. Title probably will be "Look who's flown UP to 2nd Grade!" :)
