Teachers, educators and parents who can't do the 2010 podcast cruise

Would you be interested in a Universal/RCCL Land / Sea Podcast Cruise?

  • Yes, definately

  • Possibly, if the price is right

  • Probably not, but I could be convinced

  • No way - I'm a "Disney Only" person

The main draw of a "podcast cruise" for this to me is exactly that ... the podcast. I'm looking to meet the podcast crew and fellow Dissers. Whether it's on DCL or RCCL, it makes no difference to me really. I think it's a great idea. Would we be able to do a cruise only for this? Or maybe only a 1 night at Universal?

This is a great idea. Thanks Pete!
I agree. It isn't that I wouldn't want to do Universal, but there is a reason we avoid the parks - Disney included - in the summer. When the weather is *Africa Hot*, the parks aren't enjoyable no matter how well themed they are. But I would love to do the cruise portion. If Universal isn't playing ball with the pricing, would Dreams be willing to do cruise-only pricing that would still make it possible to do Podcast Events? Or can we buy the land part of the package but use it at a cooler time of the year?

I would seriously consider this if the price was right. My whole family would be first time cruisers. DH and I have been kicking around the idea of doing a cruise during the Summer of 2010. Even though we are true Disney fans, I'm sure I could convince him to give Universal a try. We haven't been there in 5 years so we are due.

I also wanted to say how nice you are for thinking of us. You and the entire team are so thoughtful and truly a class act.

Thank you!!!!!

Hey Pete!

I think this is a great idea. My wife is a teacher and we are still planning on going on the Dec 12, 2010 Disney cruise - it is easier for her to take a few days off in the middle of the year rather than at the end. BUT, if we had not already planned on it, we would very likely be in.

Heck, if the price is right, we may do both and bring the kids on the June/July one (we can't do that in May or Dec) - keep talking and I may help load the ship!:rotfl:

My vote would be either June or early July.

Again, I think it is a excellent idea.

Steve

Just wanted to add that I haven't given up trying to figure a way/loophole in my contract to get time off for the December Podcast cruise.

I have poured over my contract and there is a little gray area in the wording for use of personal time for a "life event" or other "extraordinary circumstances." hmmmmmmm

I think winning a podcast cruise would definitely qualify as a "life event" AND "extraordinary circumstances" right?:rotfl2:

No flames please-I am just being completely honest. I am not a all familiar with podcast, but my family has been looking at doing the US Land/Sea package in the summer of 2010 and am very interested in this.

It is never too late to start. :goodvibes

*slips MinnieNurse some of the kool-aid*:rolleyes1

Remember if you are staying onsite-FOTL!! No waiting in line, you can hit the parks for a few hours and get it all done and then sit by the pool!

You said it Puck! Universal is a totally different experience than Disney. The FOTL thing changes everything; especially in the Summer. You can get through the parks so much quicker. the price of the resort is made up by getting FOTL during your stay.

My mom and I would be very interested in a summer podcast cruise. We've been wanting to visit Universal for quite some time, and a Disney cruise just would not be in the budget with going to Italy as well. :thumbsup2

Pete,

Great idea and my family would indeed be interested (as long as we are still employed!!) since we take a big trip every summer.

There is no way we could have gone in May or even next December since my wife is a teacher. I would also love to do the Disneyland trip, but that is expensive for a whole family (would get shot if I was going to do it by myself) as is a Disney Cruise.

The cruise you mentioned Pete will fit many people's schedules and many people's budgets.

OK, I voted that we might be interested, but let me ask y'all a question. We have never cruised before and I have always been holding out for a Disney cruise - at least in my mind I have. So, would RCCL be a disappointment?

I get the price difference, which is huge. But would people walk away and say "well, that was OK, but it was no Disney cruise - Disney is so far superior"? Is there a different answer with just adults in the party vs. families?

I guess what I am really trying to gauge is, yes the cost is less, but is the experience also significantly less?

BTW, thanks Pete for hearing the minority of us who cannot go during school times...it is much appreciated!

Also keep in mind that if you're staying on site at Universal, regardless of the time of year, you get front-of-the-line access to all the attractions. That's such huge perk-especially during the summer months.

Pete

Pete I think you have come up with something that we could do! :thumbsup2 I have always wanted to go on a cruise, but have just found the DCL to be way too much money for our budget. Also wanted to see Universal and their resorts too, especially with Harry Potter and all. I am pretty sure you could count Bob and I in! :cool1:

i voted as one of those 'disney only' people, but i'm sure it would be a blast with the podcast groupies, so i'm sure i'd want to tag along....:grouphug:

for me, it's more of an issue of getting across that deep blue (or whatever color it is) sea... :confused3

my willingness to get on a plane has been decreasing exponentially (and watching air crash investigation on google video hasn't helped)...:eek::eek::eek::eek:

given there's no way out of where i live other than on wings of eagles, i'm kind of stuck..

perhaps you know some really rich guy with a yacht who could give me a lift?

Now why didn't I think of that? :rolleyes1

We would be very interested!! Thank you for working on putting this all together!!!:goodvibes

I would love to go on one of these! My son is really into Harry Potter and wants to go! I would love to go on the Christmas one but being a teacher I can't take off. Thanks for thinking of us. It sounds like such fun!

I originally had planned to do the December 2010 cruise and have even put in a request for a quote. But I think a summer cruise where I could take my whole family would be a little better for me after all. So I would be interested in what you could come up with. Especially if a bunch of podcasters went!
