Teacher gifts....

Do they have one of those yummy cappucino coffee thingamagigies? I'd be thrilled - a gift is a gift. Heck, foofoo coffee and a gallon or 2 of free gas would make my day!

Lucky Teacher

I'm not a teacher but any way I can get free gas nowadays would make me very happy and I can't imagine a teacher turning their nose up at it. In fact, if I was that teacher, I would be hoping this child would be the first of many the family had come through my classroom :rotfl:

A lot better than a GC to a restaurant I don't like or lotion and candles IMO.

Ok, I have a question for you, but I'm not going to tell you my opinion on it (right now anyway). I'm just curious what you guys think.

A parent gives their child's preschool teachers an end of the year gift. The gift is a gift certificate, for an independent mini-market, and can be used towards gas or the deli. The parents own the mini market. Basically, no monetary output from the parents, with a possibility that more money will go into their business from the recipient of the gift certificate.

What is your opinion on this scenario? Again, I'm just curious....

If you can get $10 or what ever the amount of gift of free gas why would I be any thing but thankfull. And it is costing thim something, I dont know what the profit margin is for a gas station but it is costing thim money to give away stuff.

If it's sizable ($50+, or maybe $25+), I think it's nice. Anything lower would seem kind of tacky, since they own the store.

Most teachers I've met would rather receive a gift certificate than a mug/plaque/desk decoration/etc. I think its a great gift.

If I were the teacher, I'd be grateful that I got a useful gift rather than another mug ;) A gift is a gift regardless of whether the parents laid out cash to provide it or not.

My parents owned a business, and they frequently gave items/gift certficates from their business as gifts. Nobody ever complained. :confused3
