We would have week long activities. We got our families involved as much as possible. The teachers were also given small gifts in their mail boxes everyday form the H&S. (ex: colorfull post-its, box of blank note cards, survival kits, stickers).
Day 1 Each child brings in a flower for their teacher. ( I would always buy extras for those that forgot). The room mother was responsible for bringing in a vase.
Day 2 Each child would bring in a thank you note from either them or parents.
Day 3 Teacher/Staff lunch. Our teachers always requested to share this lunch with the entire staff. This would be a buffet that was provided by the school families. We also did games and trivia with prizes. Everyone attending would get a prize. Parents would volunteer to sit in the class' while the lunch was going on.
Day 4 Each child would bring in an item of relaxation (ex; slippers, face scrubs, bubble bath). The class mom would bring in a basket. Again, extra items were purchased for those that forgot.
Day 5 A small party at the end of the day. Each class would provide their own snacks and party supplies.
This was always a busy week, but, well worth it. Our teachers were great. They are way underpaid.
