This August our family was at Disney World. Our last day at the MK the kids wanted to go on the Tea Cups. While we were waiting we saw Alice and got out of line to meet her. My DD was chatting with Alice and mentioned that she has a mural of Alice in her room. Alice then invited her to come back in 30 min and ride the Tea Cups with her. I had no idea that she did this, it was amazing! Is this some thing that is very common for Alice to do, or did we just get VERY lucky.

We were there at the end of August. We were in line for the tea cups when we noticed Alice came into make sure that everyone was safely seated in their tea cups. After she went around to everyone, she chose a family to ride with. I guess you have to be there at the right time. :)

Here's a pic from 2008 with Alice & the Mad Hatter in the teacup behind us:

I used to be a character greeter at MK. It isn't super unusual for characters to go on rides. Back then (again this was 9 years ago) they would do it once or twice a day in certain locations for certain characters. It was usually during less crowded times of the day so early morning or late night.

Granted that was one or two families who got ot participate a day so it was still good luck to be choosen. Back then, Brer Bear and/or Brer Fox would ride Splash Mountain in the morning most mornings. I'm not sure that this still occurs given the larger splash that now happens and you can actually get wet on this ride now. Goofy would occassionaly ride the Barnstormer usually at night (this wasn't every night only if the line for that room of characters became non-existant) and sometimes other characters from that same room would ride also like Donald or Pluto.

Pooh and Friends would often ride the Pooh Ride most mornings, but that was back when the greeting area was across from this ride so that probably doesn't happen anymore.

Twiddledee and Twiddledum would occassionaly ride the Teacups. I was never involved with Alice or the Madhatter riding them, but you know things are always changing. It is really cool that your family got that experience. I have my picture going down Splash with both Brer Bear and Brer Fox as my manager let me ride Splash on my last day as a character greeter. I love that picture.

In 2007 my two youngest were about to ride the Teacups when Tweedle Dee and Dum came up and Tweedle Dum hopped in their Teacup and rode with them. Super lucky! :goodvibes

Last year the wife and I got to ride the tea cups with alice and the mad hatter. I with the hatter...the wife with Alice. It was our anniversary...and the wife's birthday. The hatter and I had a ball.

When we were just there last month we saw Mickey and Minnie riding Dumbo with two very excited kids!! It was later in the evening after Wishes!

In 2008, friends of ours were lucky enough to have Aladdin take their 2 sons on the Flying Carpets after taking a picture at the meet and greet. I think it was very early in the day.

I've seen Alice & Hatter ride teacups a few times. Only once was I actually on the same ride as them (but still not in the same cup!)

I also saw Princess Jasmine ride the magic carpets with a little girl once...so fun!

My son & I rode with Alice 2 weeks ago. She came up and asked him if there was room in our teacup for her...

My daughter got to ride the teacups with Alice and Mad Hatter a couple years ago.. she happen to be getting off when they were coming in the ride and she was chosen to ride again but this time with them!

We have been pretty lucky on our trips. My DDs rode the carousel with Mary Poppins in October of 2007, it was about mid-day. She was so friendly, chatted with them the whole ride.
In March of 2008 my DD 3 rode the carousel with Goofy. He lifted her up onto the horse and back down after the ride, and stood next to her the whole time. He kept his hand on her back and goofed around with her the whole ride. That was awesome. This was about 1 am on an EEMH night.
In November of 2008 our whole family rode Dumbo with Chip and Dale. They came up to get on after we had already boarded and took my DDs to sit with them in empty Dumbos. It was totally cool! This was about 2 am on an EEMH night.
Our goal this trip is to get Goofy on the Barnstormer. It's my DD4's favorite ride. We'll see if we can time it right.

Our best character experience was the time my DDs wore the stepsister dresses that I had made for them and we visited Lady Tremaine and the girls in Belle's story time garden. The stepsisters completely freaked out over my DDs, spent over 20 minutes with them. They sang together and talked and played and dissed on poor Cinderella. Then they told us to come back in 2 hours.
When we came back the sisters had made the girls head pieces to match the ones they were wearing! The handler told us out of earshot of our DDs that the girls had gone back and actually made them out of materials they had back there. One was yellow foam hot glued to a hair comb with gold braid and a gem glued on. The other was a blue ribbon glued to a barrette with a gem in the center. It was so special!

Would love to see that picture if you wouldn't mind sharing it with us:thumbsup2

It's definitely what I would call a rare thing. You figure maybe a couple families a day might get to do that. When they had the Little Ones' Magic Hour, there seemed to be more of the characters riding rides with kids. DW and DS2 (he was less than 2 mos at the time) got to ride Dumbo with Stitch.

Sounds like some lucky folks got sprinkled with pixie dust!

I'd hate to catch a whiff of that costume if they still do :lmao:

It would be very unfortunate if ANYONE rode the teacups with me, let alone a character...I'd hate to ruin Alice's lovely dress. :rotfl:

yes i have been seeing characters jump on rides more and more! PofC the boat in front of us got Jack Sparrow riding with them. He came up behind and said one more please! dang wish i was on that boat
