just back, and I have got to put in a plug for the English tea at the Grand Floridian. it's from 2pm to4pm, and it was delicious! My sister and I went along with her 2 DD. We stayed over an hour at the tea, and then shopped for another hour. We made PS for 2pm, but it wasn't crowded.

It was a Great break in the middle of the day, and totally recharged us for the rest of our MK day, we stayed till close.

I got the Buckingham palace.( $18).pot of coffee( i prefer) tea sandwiches (shrimp salad, grilled pear, egg salad, and cucumber and watercress) scones with raspberry jam and devonshire cream, lemon and cherry tart, and pastries( I got the trifle) Sister and girls had tea, split the Buckingham, and also got fresh strawberries with devonshire cream and tea.

it was a really relaxing break in the middle of the day, I can't say enough about it. Can't wait to do it again. The service was excellent, and all served on beautiful china.

Okay! I have got to do this next trip. My DD will be almost 5. Do you think that myDS 6 and my DH would appreciate this? Or should I make it a girls activity? Do you need ps or AR or what ever they are calling it now?
Tara

We were there a year ago with my 80 year old DM, my DS and some neices. It was the highlight of my DM's trip to WDW. We chose ala carte (DM would never spend $18 for tea) selections and it worked out nicely. We probably spent 1 1/2 hours there. Pleasant view and relaxing. Your DH would enjoy it if he would not mind being one of few men there.

I think it is pretty feminine, I can't imagine a boy would enjoy it. Only saw 1 man there, he didn't look happy.

you can see the menu athttp://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_gft.htm
hope the link works, if not go to www.allearsnet.com, go under dining, the menus, resorts, grand floridian , afternoon tea.

ps. the scones were soft, delicious with the jam and cream, yummmmy

I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed the tea. I have an AR for our upcoming trip at 2:10. I was worried that would be too early, but I guess we will just eat a late breakfast.

Me, my 78 yo mom, sister and 7 yo niece did the tea a few weeks ago at the GF. It was our first time and what a treat it was! Very relaxing, great food (the 3 adults got the Buckingham and my niece got the Mrs. Potts tea) and incredible tea. I made a special trip back to the GF the next week to buy some of the Hot Cinnamon (??) Spice tea that I had (it was THAT good!!). It was one of our "girly" things to do and will definitely be a repeat event. Two thumbs up here!

This might sound strange, but can you go to 'tea' in your casual park clothing? If so, I might have to twist DH's arm for this experience, it sounds great!

My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary at WDW later this year. He actually asked if we could do the tea. Yeah!

We wore our "park clothes" (shorts/t-shirts) and did not feel out of place at all. There were a few groups of more dressed up women. I think one party was a bridal shower ~ what a great place to have a shower.

We just did this last Friday July 8th. It was Fabulous!!!

My DH, 3 DD's, and myself went and there were at least 4 other men there. We wore park clothing and didn't feel funny at all.

My husband wanted a beer and it wasn't on the menu, so our server got it from another part of the GF for him. We thought that was great.

DH and I both got the Buckingham Tea with GF blend tea, very good by the way. 3 DD's got the Mrs. Pott's Tea and they loved every minute of it.

Can't wait to go again soon.

Oh and one more thing, those scones are the most delicious tasting scones I have ever had. Very moist and yummy!! :goodvibes

this sounds so fabulous. we are on the dining plan in september and will have so much food i can't imagine but i might try to do this with just my mom and myself and let the boys have some alone time together.

i'm thinking the same thing. we will be on the dining plan, and i wonder when to fit this in? maybe i'll get something other than the buckingham palace, something lighter. DD's and mom and grandma would love this! the "boys" can go do something else if they want!

we went to the 2pm tea on our morning of our character breakfast at Crystal Palace. We really weren't hungry till 2! Had a late dinner before spectromagic. Worked out perfectly.

boys and dh spent their 2 hours swimming and napping. All of us really loved that day.

We went in our park clothes, that was just fine. We had such good service
I can't wait to go again in october.

On the Buckingham palace tea, can you substitute the tea sandwiches, if you don't like one they are offering. Thinking of doing this on our next trip, but my sister is allergic to sea food, so wondering if you can get a different one in place of the fish one. There seems to be one every time, as I read on another review there was a salmon one.

Thanks

thats great you enjoyed the tea
i love it
i did it several times on my last trip and it was great
amazing service

Bumping for a response, as I am curious also :goodvibes

PS--Can you pre-order the Cindy's slipper dessert for the tea, and if so, what # do you call?

Flames are coming,I feel the heat!!!!!! I just didnt think the tea was that great!!! The place is gorgeous and the china beautiful....but....the food was just o.k.. My favorite was the scone, but you just get one. All the pastries just sit out uncovered,my strawberry mouse cake had a bug on it....after that I didnt want anything else. I went to a tea near home and it was fabulous so I guess I was comparing it to that. I won't go back but I guess I can see why others do!!!!! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

We went to the tea for our 20th anniversary in June. We had ordered a Cinderella Slipper & a Mickey dessert from the bakery & they were beautiful (yummy too). I also have a seafood allergy & I was able to substitute for the shrimp salad for something else. We (dh, dd17, dd13 & myself) all enjoyed it. This is the regular tea room, not the little "princess" tea. Very elegant & relaxing. It was not crowded, but there were other families & couples there when we went, so dh wasn't the only male in the place. He enjoyed it as much as we girls & it will be on our list of things to do on our next visit. We didn't see anything sitting out - there were large, covered silver servers that they used. Everything was beautifully presented.
