Tea at GF

When we go we can easily spend two hours there, but if you weren't quite as... conversational... as we get at tea, you could be done in well under an hour. :rotfl:

Depends on what you order. Plan on an hour to an hour and a half

What is the tea like? Do you get a platter and tea all at one time? The reason I am asking is because the magical express will be picking us up at the GF at 3 or 3:30 (our plane departs at 6pm) and our reservation is at 2pm (the earliest we could). I chose most of the dining reservation locations for this trip and this one was my wife's one request so I really want to make sure she is able to do it.

It really does depend on what you order. We were there about 2 weeks ago and each ordered the Buckingham. It was served in 3 tiers, and took about an hour and a half, but we could have been done sooner. People came in just after us and ordered the same and were gone before us...it was our server, she was not really on the ball. If your ME is at 3:30 you probably will have no problem, maybe just let your server know you need to be out. If it is at 3, you may cut it close. You do not have to order the tier packages, you can do a la cart and it would be faster HTH

I just uploaded my pics - we took 2 hours - its a nice pleasant way to relax and spend an afternoon -

for the kids they have a Mrs Potts - chocolate milk - and then the PBJ (not sure if they still do this due to Peanut allergies many wdw places no longer serve Peanut butter) or Ham sandwiches - simple and plain - last year dd tried the tea, but ended up getting what the other kids in our group got (helpful CM noticed dd discomfort right away! and brought her the Mrs Potts w/o a problem)

so this past year dd tried several teas - and finally found one she loved Darjeleen (sp that wrong!) its a light tea - well it wasnt on the menu, so I asked, and sure enough they had it!! so DD was so happy! She still went with the plain sammies mind you (ham) while we had the fancy schmancy kind!

Tell them if you have to leave by a certain time - most people that go do want the slower pace...

its well worth the trip imho - and it isnt on the Dining Plan - but it is one of the restaurants where you can special pre order the slipper dessert ($15 I think - see the cake thread page one)

Thank you so much for those great pics. DD (she's 22) and I will attend on Monday - it's a surprise for her, she has just started drinking tea.

Wow. Thanks for everyone's opinions and advice. I really liked the pictures. They gave me an idea to surprise my wife (the slipper and rose/crown idea). The pictures really look nice. Thanks again.:thumbsup2

As long or as short as you want it...we spent well over an hour there just chilling out

Glad I could help - and the slipper dessert is so worth the money - a real WOW factor!!

DD says DH had OOlong tea, she had the darjeeling and I had an English Breakfast

This is the first I have heard of this. Where can I get info about it? Like price, what's included, etc.? Is this just for GF guests?

The menu is listed on allears.net. Go to the dining page, and it is a blue link down the left side of the page.

It is for anyone. ADRs are definitely needed as I saw a few people told they didn't have any availability when we went.

It was BY FAR my favorite meal of the trip. We both had the Buckingham Palace Tea for $20 per person and I got one side of Sally Lunn bread which was delicious. I had the Eros tea, which was orange/vanilla flavor and DH had the Harmony, which was minty.

I wish I could do that every Sunday.

Wonderful pictures! We've done this twice and LOVED it. I want to have this for my birthday in Sept. :goodvibes

Who do you call to add the slipper dessert? :confused3 I want to get one for dd when we have tea at the GF. I tried to request it when I made my ADR, but the CM did not know what I was talking about. She told me to call the restaurant directly. I called the GF main number, and that CM told me that the restaurant did not have its own line and that I needed to call the reservations desk. :scared1:

Does anyone know how to get the slipper dessert ordered for tea? It really shouldn't be this hard!!!!

TIA!!

Try the cake hotline 407-827-2253, or call the GF bakery/dining directly and ask about it 407-824-2474?

What do you think about this for a 5 year olds birthday? Her and her sister (7yrs) both love tea parties. We thought about the perfectly princess tea party but are put off by the doll etc that they give them there. Its just too much to pack to go back to Australia - especially with all the other stuff we have. This looked like a good option.

It is a great option! They have a "Mrs Pott's" selection if your girls dont like tea - my dd wanted to do tea (and darjaling is a very mild tea and it wasnt on the menu list, but when dd asked, they had it!)

2 years ago, she ordered a tea, and the friends girls that joined us got the Mrs Potts - dd eyes must have been very expressive as the CM came up and asked if she would like a pot of chocolate milk as well - and of course dd did want that!

it is a very quiet, stylish area - and dd had always done "tea parties" at home - we too were put off by the price an doll of the other tea party - this one was perfect for us to sit back, reflect, talk and enjoy each other's company in a very relaxed atmosphere - I know High Tea is very fashionable - and a very nice way to stop and smell the roses at Disney!
