Taxi's with a 3 year old - Car Seats???

It is chock full of information on how safe busses are.

It is a choice that we all make everytime we put our own kids into even our own cars. Driving is dangerous! plain and simple. It is how we decide to ensure that we minimize the risks asscoiated with driving. Whether we are driving or someone else is.

I will say its a miricle that i am alive, I was allowed as a 5 year old in the early 70's to ride without seatbelts in van/station wagons etc... Until a tiny fender bender through be from the back seat into my mothers lap. After that day we were always belted.

Why don't you tell the guys, who were killed, in Atlanta, Georgia how safe the bus is. Maybe the adults who were killed in New Mexico or even the people in Massachusets who were killed. They were adults, how would have a child made out in any one of those crashes. In the past two years there have been at least 5 tour bus crashes with fatalities, probably more. There have also been several school bus crashes with fatalities.

If you are foolish enough to believe a 1 to 5 year old kid is safe, in a supposedly compartmentalized bus, in a bus seat, without a seat belt, or the mothers lap when the bus experiences a serious crash you are flipping out. In fact I think you are dreaming or just trying to save a few extra bucks. In Orlando as many kids that travel on the busses to WDW, that is a tragedy waiting to happen.

The only reason busses don't have seat belts is because of the lobby and money against it.

I'll be using the car seat when I find a taxi with one, but if they dont I think there is minimal risk in the short ride without it, etc.

Some people lose all perspective when it comes to car seats, frankly. My DS at 7 is still in a booster, although I don't legally have to have him in one in Florida. I use it 99 percent of the time.

But there have been a few times that I've needed to ride with him in a car and no seats were available. Broken down cars, an emergency situation with my dad, a hurricane that brought our ship into another port without our car and car seat in it. And in other countries, as I've said, there are no seat belts quite often.

And no, the law of physics don't change. And neither does the law of probabilities. Instead of black and white thinking, parents need to assess the situation and go from there.

Buses ARE DANGEROUS without seat belts in the case of accidents. As dangerous as cars, well no. But there are plenty of dead bus riders there you could "talk to" about whether they might have preferred a seat belt.

And money is part of the reason their aren't seat belts on buses, as well as safety reasons (small children getting stuck, for example).
