Taxi questions

Hello. I am planning a trip to Universal Orlando and I have a few questions regarding taxi service to and from the airport.

Will five people (two adults, three children) be permitted in one taxi? Do I need to make arrangements for a taxi before my arrival? I know that taxis are at the airport but I'm wondering if it will be necessary to reserve one.

Also, will I need to bring a carseat for my four year-old child to use in the taxi?

Finally, we will have luggage and a stroller---will we fit in one taxi with this gear?

Thanks for any help that you can provide!

They have the mini van taxis, and van taxis so you, your family and luggage will fit perfectly. Also most had a car seat or booster seat available. Just ask the driver.

Whenever you're in a major city or a major resort area, there is NEVER a need to reserve a taxi in advance. At WDW, they are waiting at each resort and park.

Disney feels that having taxis waiting around the resorts is "bad show", so normally they're staged at the parks, DTD, BW, & convention resorts if there is a conference going on.

sorry to thread jack,

About car seats, you can request them? We have a 2 and 5 year old and I had ruled out cabs all together because of the car seat issue. How do you request one? Call and ask?

sorry, but this has not been my experience. Every resort we have stayed at has had taxis waiting near the entrance. On our last trip at AKL Kidani, the cabs were right there waiting. Not a whole bunch, but about 2-3.

Yes you can request them and when we did we found that most had them in the trunck! On our last trip there were 5 of us and DS needed a booster seat. So, we would call bell services, tell them what we needed and they were there waiting when we came down.(we needed a van for our group). Even when leaving Universal to get back to AKL getting a van and booster seat was not a problem at all. If you are leaving a resort and don't see a taxi and didn't call ahead, just walk up to bell services, they will get you one with a very short wait time.

Sorry, but I must respectively disagree. What you're seeing are cabs that have dropped off and are hanging around after the drop off hoping to get a fare out before returning to the staging area. They're not supposed to be there for any length of time. Taxis for the AKL are staged at the AK charter lot. I'm a WDW transportation CM and as a former valet/bell Cap at the GF, WL, & YC, I've had to tell taxis that I felt were trying to get around the policy, to move on. There are designated taxi staging areas as I wrote in my PP. If you call 407-422-2222, Mears taxi, they will confirm it. As I said, Disney feels it's "bad show".

Thanks for the clarification, Magicbus.

Wow, I don't need your resume, lol, or a phone # to confirm what you are saying! :lmao: I believe you. All I was saying is that in my experiences, over past trips at different resorts(some not being convention resorts) we have always seen taxis waiting by the front. I actually agree with Disney feeling it is "bad show". Again, just stating what has been MY experience.
