Taxi from POFQ to grocery?

Good afternoon,

We are considering the following. Tell me what you think.

We want to take ME TO the resort. Later that night, we'd like to get a taxi and head to a grocery store so that we can get some "adult refreshments" for any nights we would just like to relax with a cocktail, or any additional things we forgot and need to pick up (which is common for me). It wouldn't especially work to take a towncar to a grocery store from the airport (we usually use towncars) because we're most likely going to be arriving well before our room is ready and I don't want to leave it for the resort to watch (and I don't know that they would watch alcoholic stuff anyway).

But then my DBF is balking at having to leave our resort at 11:20 to catch a 2:20 flight home on Saturday if we take ME to the airport, and I'm wondering how much time it would take to get to the airport via taxi (would it buy us additional time? We don't mind making it to MCO around 12:45 or 1; can we leave the resort at noon instead? 12:30?) and how much it might cost?

Could I get some advice here? This is my last piece of the puzzle.

If you can afford it and time is of the essence, by all means do it.

I take the WDW transportation over to the TTC, and catch the Lynx bus (public transportation) to Publix/Walgreens.

You are taking a chance on missing your flight if you wait too long to get to the airport. It is recommended that you arrive at the airport 1 and 3/4 hours before your flight departs - that is closer to 12:30.

As far as getting to the store, I would rent a car for one day and do your running around. It would be less expensive than a taxi to/from the grocery store.

I use a grocery delivery service - IMHO the fee and tip is less than a taxi and I am not using my vacation time grocery shopping. I use wegoshop.com for snacks, cold breakfast items, fruit, water, beer and wine. Most times its delivered to bell services on arrival day. Bell services will keep cold items cold and has never had an issue with our adult beverages. Not sure what your concern is but I have done it without issue over two dozen times.

As for the return - personally I would never cut it that close at MCO, the recommended arrival time is 2 hours prior to flight departure. The security line can be over 30/40 minutes long at times. At most a taxi would save you maybe 1/2 hour and IMHO the cost of 60 +/- plus tip isn't worth it to me.

A grocery delivery service would be cheaper and easier. Both gardengrocer.com and wegoshop.com are highly recommended

A taxi will cost around $60 and might give you another 25 minutes at the resort. I wouldn't leave any later than 11:45. Check out time is 11:00, so you'll need to be out of the room by then anyway.

Aha, see, here is what I was missing. Any site I found said they couldn't deliver alcohol per Florida law. Really, we're not huge drinkers but we DO like to relax with a drink sometimes and I think we'd be more prone to hang out in our room with a few just because this is a relaxing vacation for us as well as an exciting one. I'm going to check that site out; you believe it's reliable? We've never used these services, and I haven't been to the World in a decade. So much new!

Both wegoshop and garden grocer are completely reliable and will deliver alcohol. You will need to be in your room for delivery though, since they will need to check your I.D.

I have used them twice a year for a few years and I have had great service. I prepay and send them a copy of my license to verify my age. I have never had anything less than great service regardless of if they leave it at bell services or deliver it to me in the room.

I have had beer & wine left with bell services many times using wegoshop. I just needed to fax them a copy of my license.

Regarding your return trip: Twice we have been caught in complete gridlock trying to get through security in Orlando. :scared: Both times we had taken ME and both times we would have either missed our flight or come uncomfortably close to it if we hadn't left our hotel as early as we did.

Garden grocer is awesome. All you have to do is in the comment box add that you want to order "x" amount of ___ type of beer. They will call you to get a comfirmation and to tell you how much will be added to your order total. Our order has always just been waiting for us. We order beer, snacks and muffins (for breakfast)
