Does anyone know how much it would be for a taxi from airport to hotel. We have reservations on DME, but we have a person that is recovering from brain surgery, and don't know after getting up early in the morning, flying for 2 1/2 hours, if she will be up to being on a DME bus for possibly a hour or so. If that is the case, we were thinking of one of us taking her in a taxi and the rest taking the bus. Or can anyone recommend another type of transportation we would be able to get at the last minute if needed. Thanks

Last year we missed ME and had to take a Mears Cab back from Boardwalk to MCO (BWI is pretty close to CBR). Anyhow that was just under $60. I have read recently that there are cheaper options than a cab like Uber? No experience though.

I'm not sure why you think she'd be on the bus for 1 hour+. And honestly, the bus is a much more comfortable ride than a taxi.

But to answer your question: you can look it up at taxifarefinder.com It's probably going to be around $65.

I was also going to mention the comfort factor. The bus seats are definitely more comfortable and to me it generally feels like a smoother ride. It's a 30 minute drive either way with a chance of extra stops but I've never been on an ME bus more than 45 minutes.

Uber cannot pick up at MCO, so that isn't an option for the OP in this instance.

If she is stressed getting off the plane, a good change of pace would be a leisurely walk to the airport tram and then to the Magical Express welcoming area. If the little food court airside before getting on the tram is open that would be a nice place to stop and get a snack and look out the window at other planes going out and coming in.

No rush needed to get from the arrival gate to the DME welcoming area.

Any other walk up and go transportation besides a taxi will have the same characteirstics as a bus.

Thanks, we were just going by the back of the DME tag that said 45-75 minutes, and just thought a taxi may be quicker to get her to the hotel if she wasn't feeling well when we got off the plane.

A taxi would be a little quicker. But you may also want to factor in that the DME buses do have restrooms on them. Depending on how unwell she is feeling, the comfort of the bus seats and having a restroom may have the buses win out over a taxi.

I've sat on the DME bus for a good 25 minutes before leaving the airport. In that particular instance, we arrived on a slow Thursday night and were the first on an empty bus and had to wait for it to fill up. We then had the actual commute of 30 minutes, plus an added 15 minutes or so while they dropped off other resorts before ours. So, it's entirely possible you can be on the bus for a bit. But I do agree it's more comfortable.

With a taxi, you'll bypass all the waiting but it would be less comfortable and obviously an expense.

Thanks again for all the help. I guess it is just one of those thinks we will just have to wait and see.

Just an idea, you could always stay at the Hyatt inside the airport on arrival (not sure if your flight is getting in late or early) and leave on DME the next morning, if you think all the traveling will be too much for her. We got a AAA rate around $100/night at the Hyatt, just an idea.

Thanks, our flight gets in at 11:30 am. We are all just hoping she will be fine and able to make it to the hotel. And you never know she may be fine all day. Has good and bad days
