I am planning on taking the Pacific Surfliner from San Diego and will be arriving on a Tuesday afternoon around 3:35pm at the Anaheim station (ANA) by Angel's stadium. I'm trying to minimize the the travel time from the station to DCA entrance so that I can squeeze in some touring time as I'm only staying for two nights and would like to take a taxicab over.

Are there taxicabs waiting out at front of the station or should I plan on calling a cab company to have one waiting for me?

My daughter often takes Amtrak down to join us (school delays her) and there are always taxis there she says. She usually arrives at the room within 10 min of her arrival time at teh train station.

So glad someone else asked! We are planning on coming in a night early and stay in Hollywood to see some sights and then take Amtrack to Anehiem, and so we knew we would need a taxi from the station to DLR. About how much is a taxi from the station to DLR?

I paid about ten bucks for my taxi cab from the Anaheim Amtrak station to Motel6 Maingate. There is a taxi phone at the station that you can pick up and connect with a cab company directly, in the event there aren't cabs already waiting.

We did this a couple years back - and our AMTRAK train that connected to the Pacific Surfliner was 12 hours late (we could have driven in less time - but it was vacation and we opted to go home for 12 hours, sleep and take the train when it got there the next morning - our trip was supposed to be a redeye).

But it had us getting into Anaheim at about 15 hours late when all was said and done (The surfliner was running a couple hours late because somebody had been hit and killed on the track north of LA delaying our surfliner). We did not get into the Anaheim station until 10:30 or 11pm. I was worried that we were going to have to wait and call a cab. But one was there! Very easy process. It cost about 20 dollars for our family of 4 to get to the DLH.

(I am not being negative about the train - it was a fun adventure. We would do it again if the cost for a private room was not so expensive)

We went in the opposite direction. Disneyland to Amtrack. When we arrived, there wasn't a lot of traffic and I don't recall seeing any taxis there (other than the one we got out of).

We were just going to go from Union Station to Anaheim. I don't have it in front of me right now but seems like it was only about a 30 min trip or thereabouts. Looked like they had them about every 30 minutes or so in the mornings so was just planning to get up and have bkfst and kind of take our time getting to Union Station and look around and get on whichever one is next (just buy tickets when we get there). That should work shouldn't it? Or do I need to plan more exactly and purchase in advance?

Thanks everyone for your help! Good to know there is a designated phone at the station to call for a cab if I can't find one out front. If I wasn't so pressed for time, would have been fine taking the ART but I would like to save as much time as I can.

You will more likely be using Metrolink and you just purchase it when you get there.
