We are headed down next weekend to do the Expedition Everest Challenge. We are not staying at a race participating resort, so there will not be transportation from AK to our resort OKW after the race. Will we have any trouble getting a cab around midnight after the race? Anyone know about how much it would be? Would it be better to take the bus to Port Orleans and then get a cab to OKW?

I imagine because of the event. You may find a few cabs there or somone happy to give you a ride.

Cabs eaither way will be close to $10. I've seen interpark fares reported as low as 6 and as high as $15+tips. But the 15s are getting taken, they should be able to get into Kissamee for that. You may be in posistion where you have little choice. Know that in the Orlando area fares are not regulated so it's good to ask before you get in the cab so they don't take you the long way to push up a fare.

AK & OKW are on opposite sides of the property, and there are a lot of traffic lights on the way. If you can get on the bus to PO, it might save you some bucks. FQ is a bit closer than Riverside, if you have a choice.

Plus, I really don't know what the taxi situation will be like at AK. Mears (the official WDW taxi provider) may or may not be planning to have lots of taxis available at the finish.

If you do decide to taxi from AK, and if there are none around, there is a direct phone to Mears taxi dispatch in the little shelter in the charter bus lot at AK.

If you stick with Mears' Checker Cab, you won't have to worry about being taken advantage of. Their drivers know they will lose the right to pick up at Disney if they receive customer complaints. And many of the independents charge higher rates per mile.

I'm not sure where your got your info, but according to the Orlando taxi fare calculator (which is accurate) AK to OKW is going to be about $25, plus tip.

So if we take the bus to Port Orleans, do we call for a cab from there?
