does anybody know if it is beneficial to purchase the annual passes at disneyworld vs getting them at your local disney store? are taxes imposed either way and are the taxes based on local tax rates?

also, does the tables in wonderland discount apply before or after sales tax?

thanks:)

The Tables in Wonderland has generally discounted the tax. The bill shows the total, and a tax adjustment, at least the last time we used the DDE last year.

It is my understanding that you can not purchase a DVC Discounted AP at a Disney Store, you need to either get them via DVC website, by calling MS, or in person at WDW.

You cannot purchase the AP with your DVC discount at your local Disney Store. Aso, in the past APs had to be ordered. They were not readily available in the stores. I'm not sure if that has changed.

Any passes you do purchase at TDS have Florida sales tax added, not the tax rate of your state.

Doesn't matter, since 20% off the meal price before tax, then the meal tax applied to the remainder, would be the same as adding the meal tax first, and then taking the 20% off the total.

sorry, guess i didn't state my question too clearly. was actually wondering if the sales tax is paid on the original full amount or the discounted amount.

Your original receipt will show the full price, meal and tax. Then the CM, upon presentation of your card, make a 20% adjustment in the computer. The computer also adjusts the tax, so the tax is figured on the discounted amount.

On the AP, if you are asking if you buy an AP with a DVC discount (or a meal with the TiW card), but the sales tax is added based on the full original price, then the answer is no. You are only ever taxed on the final sales amount. Although the discount can be calculated either before or after the tax is applied (because mathematically it doesn't matter), technically discounts apply before taxes are applied.

Rebates, on the other hand, because of their nature, only apply after taxes, and you are not given a rebate on the tax.
