Tax refunds

Was finally able to get all my documents and filed this morning. Then I found out about the education credit delay. Who knows when we'll get our refund. :(

The letter I got from turbotax says the IRS will begin processing forms with tax credits starting Feb 14.

We filed on January 21 - after checking with H&R Block, we were told that even though the IRS was not accepting returns until 1/30, we would be placed on a queue.

We received our state refund on February 6 and received our Federal on February 8. And as of 9am on 2/8, we were credit card debt free!

Federal accepted on 2/5, DD will be on 2/14.

State accepted on 2/7, DD will be on 2/13.

Irs accepted our refund 01/31/2013 and shows it will be deposited 02/13/2013:yay:

I have a question.

I know I owed the IRS money from a return in 2010 that I made a mistake on (notified this past December).

I assumed they would take it out of my refund from this year, but when I checked the refund status on the IRS website, it gave me a deposit date of 2/13 and showed the full refund amount.

Why didn't they reduce my refund with the amount I owed??

When we owed a few years ago, we still received a notice that said that we would receive our refund, but then we were mailed letters saying that they were applying the money to the old taxes. Keep an eye on your bank account...if it goes in, you'll have to send it back or keep paying those extra interest charges.

I am concerned about the deposit part. We were able to mark that we didn't want any of the refund, but that was before everything was efile and direct deposit.

Hope it works out for you.

For the past days I had the message that the return was accepted and to wait 21 days. I checked this morning and now it says "We cannot provide any information about your refund. You must wait at least 24 hours after you get the acknowledgement e-mail that your tax return was received by the IRS"

What does this mean now?

It means that the IRS website is as worthless as it always has been. The only things I look at is first notice after sending it in that the IRS has accepted it. After that, I don't bother looking anymore. I've e-filed every year since they started accepting them (actually did it over the phone at first.) Don't stress about it. You will almost always have the refund in 10-14 days, sometimes 21. I wouldn't worry until you get into the three week range. Of course I'm one of those lucky ones for whom the IRS isn't even accepting theirs until sometime in March. I wouldn't mind seeing that refund now.

That happened to me and the next day I had a deposit date so don't get discouraged!

Well turbotax still has my federal refund as pending and my state as accepted but my state was deposited this morning. I guess the updates are just not accurate. Federal is waiting for the education credit forms so that is expected.

Are you one of the lucky ones too? If you have one of several credits, then the IRS is not even accepting the returns until sometime in March. My Turbo Tax still says pending. The main credits are rental income and certain tuition credits.
