Tax dollars at work????????

DH had a bill with the county
so i went to the post office to get a money order to mail and pay the bill

when i got there i couldn't remember the exact change so i rounded up to the nearest dollar and sent it off

yesterday DH get a check in the mail

for .36


It cost them more for the postage stamp

how nuts is this????

wonder if it would mess them up if i didn't cash it???

Incredibly stupid. At least my city has the "If you owe or are due less an a dollar we'll call it even" policy. Then again, some of my corporate dividends pay out so low they spend more on postage than the dividend itself. You've got to love that one...

It definitely cost a lot less to send that check to everyone with a fractional balance than it would have cost to deal with the one or two yahoos who would have called to complain that they overpaid by $0.36 and didn't get a check for the balance.

I had a bill 2 months ago from my old cell phone company for .02. They called me 5 times for 2 cents. It was crazy. I finally mailed them the 2 cents. Cost me more for the stamp then the bill.
