Tattos...Did you regret getting one?

Stinkerbelle, I have tried and tried to imagine what yours looks like (you described it on a thread awhile ago) but can't!

well - in about 50 years it'll probably look like a big-ole-margarita glass! hehehe (well - that's what my brother says)

ok - I just went and took some pictures of it...heheheh - do you know how HARD it is to take a picture of something on your back? (ignore the love handles)

I want a tattoo so bad but I am terified of needles. I tried to get one when I turned 21 but the sound and the sight made me faint. I think when/if I get the nerve up next time, I want to get something on the top of my foot.

DH regrets his, or I guess the location of his on his forearm - he feels it has the potential to hold him back professionally.

I got a couple years ago. I got a celtic shamrock on my lower back, right on my spine. I don't regret it at all. You can't see it unless I'm wearing a bathing suit or low pants or bending over. Plus when I'm old and gray I won't be able to see it anyway!

DH got the Rebel Alliance symbol from star wars on his calf and now wants the Imperial Symbol on his other leg.

I'm also trying to talk him out of a few other ones, like pac man on his arm and the atari symbol with roots written under it. But, he's a chef and it doesn't matter if he's all tatted up. I work in an office and need to look professional.

I do want to get another one, just don't know what yet.

If I got anything at all, it would probably be either a bat, or an ancient egyptian symbol, probably the Eye of Horus.

The star wars stuff is nothing compared to what my best friend has to endure...her DH has at least 5 Scooby Doo's covering his body...

I have four...fantasia mickey, tinkerbell, cheshire cat & figment...2 on each ankle. Not only do I not regret them...I want more.

As to the wrinkly tattoos...that's why I chose my ankles.(I've never seen sagging ankles)

As to the grey haired grannie thing...that's why I chose Disney theme...something I won't have to hide from my daughter, nieces, nephews or future generations. It's art. A conversation piece.

I asked my artist about putting one on my foot and he says that really hurts! (Close to the bone hurts more)

The poster who wrote about the blood transfusion concern...maybe you can donate and "bank" your blood before you get your tat?

I have two butterflies and I don't regert them at all. I have them in a place that really isn't visible unless I want them to be. I was 30 years old when I got them and I thought long and hard before I did it. I also thought about where I would put them. I did not want them to distract from wearing a nice evening gown or dressing up for work. So I am happy with them.

I might even get another one.

I love, love, love my tattoo! It is across my lower back and it is a tribal scroll. It is private and no one sees it ( unless I want them too) Dh loves it as well!

I started thinking about getting one about year ago. I imposed a one-year waiting period on myself, just to be certain it wasn't a passing fancy. Next month will be a full year. I'm thinking I'd like it on my right shoulder blade - that way it won't show all that often. At first, I worried about what it would look like when I'm 80 and wrinkled, but then I thought, "criminy, I'll be 80 and wrinkled, what will I care about how some tattoo looks? I'll have bigger concerns than that. And anyone else who doesn't like it can just keep their big mouth shut!" When my mom passed away at 63, I realized that we only live once and we may as well lighten up and enjoy the ride. Why not get a tattoo?

So, it's almost time for me to visit a couple of tattoo parlors and make the decision on who's going to do it.

Make sure you visit several different places. Ask to see the artist work. And make sure it is clean. I went to a couple before I picked where I went.

My tattoos are a part of me and who I am. I didn't do them for anyone else but myself. And again like you I waited to make sure it was something that I really wanted to do. No turning back once they get started.

On my right leg above the ankle, where there is LOTS OF MEAT! I HATE pain! But, I am not sure of getting one either. If the OP gets hers, I will get mine!

No regrets. I have 3. I got a band of roses around my ankle about 12 years ago. Last year DH and I got matching ink, on our upper arms of an American Eagle holding a flag. Even though it covers most of my upper arm, I can still wear my cocktail dresses and it doesn't show. I also have a musical staff with the notes to Rock this Town right below the eagle. It really is amazing the talent some of the tattoo artists have. DH and I had different people do the same design on us and our ink is definitely different. He has more shading and subdued colors and mine is more brilliant and crisp. Both came out great though. We're very happy with them.
