Tasers in the World?

Agree with PP. A taser is a weapon in this context and I'm confident would not be allowed by Disney CMs.

I cannot conceive of why anyone would want or need such a thing at WDW. I mean I know it isn't in some kind of bubble, but still....

In the state of MD you cannot carry a taser unless you are licensed by the state to have one (I interned with my county PD while getting my master degree). Even if you can carry in your state you cannot posses the item in mine. By the looks of the thing posted, I suspect Florida is the same. I would leave the taser at home.

It seems to me that the best thing about bringing a weapon to WDW is that nobody else there has a weapon, which makes you absolutely invincible.

Imagine how big and tough you would feel knowing that you are armed with a Taser and the guy who is pissing you off has nothing! Imagine how it would be to feel 100% safe in escalating a conflict rather than defusing it, knowing you literally have a secret weapon in your pocket that you can pull out and use whenever you want. Savor the thought of telling that guy to F off and then saying a silent prayer that he tries something so you can finally demonstrate your awesome power! Imagine how children will cry when you tase their mother for bumping your shin with a stroller. You would be a god among mere morals! Go ahead and rub yourself with your Taser while you imagine how, for once, you will not be the weak, pathetic one!

Of course, the fact that idiots think it is a good idea to bring weapons to WDW is exactly why no weapons are allowed at WDW. At least the OP has enough sense to realize that the question should be asked because the answer might be no.

I don't think that's righteous either, but I doubt that guy is coming here and asking. "I can't believe you even asked that question" is on the cutting edge of righteous, though; the correct answer is "no".

Putting forth the idea that a weapon isn't a weapon if it's only intended for defensive purposes deserves a little incredulity.

It reminds me of a woman I once knew who said that she was fine with her kids sword-fighting with sticks, but that she wouldn't let them play guns with their fingers (or any other objects) because guns are weapons. I was gobsmacked when she told me that.

If an objects' primary purpose is to injure another person (whether they deserve it or not,) it is a weapon. It's not a matter of opinion; it's the definition of the word.

You can train yourself in martial arts and then you don't have to worry about them not letting you bring your defensive weapon into the park,
No one else will have a weapon - you will have nothing to defend yourself against.

That's funny. I don't feel that way when carrying the handgun that the state of Florida (where disney is located btw) has licensed me to carry in public. This is the same argument that anti self defense people always make, but the crime statistics don't back that up.

In the last few years there have been made shootings in churches, schools and national museums. There is nothing unreasonable apt asking what Disney's policy on the subject is. Just because you don't agree with op doesn't invalidate the question.

In what world is a taser not a weapon? The OP is reaching for straws in hoping that as it isn't specifically listed, it is ok to take into the parks. As another poster pointed out, nuclear bombs are not listed, but they sure are weapons.

Plenty of people have been killed or wounded using legal guns in the past few years as well, but I don't want to have that debate.

Look, WDW has a no weapons policy. A taser is a weapon. So, don't bring it. Since there is no need for a weapon in parks, you shouldn't feel unsafe. If anxiety or whatever prevents you from feeling safe without a weapon on your person, you probably need some time with a therapist.

I think it is somewhat of a legitimate question. The reason is tasers, pepper spray etc are gray area weapons because they are non-lethal. Some states treat them different than a weapon that is lethal
. Now I am sure that somebody has died from being tazed but keep in mind some police academy's today have being tazed as part of their training. Being shot or stabbed are not part of training because those weapon systems are considered lethal.
Disney can deny access to their property for tasers, pepper spray and just about anything they want. They are a private company. If somebody breaks their rule they can be kicked off the property for trespassing and not allowed back.
What the original poster needs to do is call or E-Mail Disney and verify what their rules say.

I have posted later but a taser is non-lethal. I am not a lawyer but I think some states require a device to be considered lethal to be classified as a weapon.

A taser...:lmao: I don't know...have you seen those creepy things that come out with the dragon in the parade? :rotfl: Or clear out a great parade spot! :smokin:

On a side note, has anyone ever been accosted in the parks? I can't think of anything except that Epcot drunken situation.

No need for a taser in Disney. Ever.

Disney doesn't say anything about non-lethal weapons. A taser is a weapon. It's really very simple.

And yes people have died from having a taser used on them.

My advice then would be don't start a subject if you don't want a debate. I don't know what is going on in some individuals lives so I try to avoid telling them what makes them feel secure.
