Target's weird Easter candy markdown?

Today I went there and saw a fellow 90% person. Her cart was full of premade baskets. The eggs and grass were 90% off, but candy was labeled 50% off. I was hoping for the cadbury eggs in the blue bag, 70% off. No deal, there were only 50% off. Then I started scanning other candy. The candy I bought at 90% off was theater size nerds, king size reeses eggs, and snickers peanut butter eggs. It's weird how the candy is either 50% or 90%. What have you found?

I've been to two Targets recently, and the first had hardly any candy left, and it was only 30% off. I grabbed a bag of M&M's, but that was it. Yesterday I went to another Target, and all the candy was at 50% off. I bought about 4 bags, mostly hershey's chocolate. The decorations, baskets, etc. were only 70% off.

The Lindt chocolate items were 90% while the cadbury were only 50%. Weird, yes.

Someone told me today that if it is in the shape of a decorative Easter item (i.e. a bunny) it is 90%. If it is a bag of candy it is 50%.

I scored 24 of the king size reeses eggs for 9 cents each, 4 bags of mini reeses for $1.57 each, 10 movie theater size boxes of Easter nerds for 10 cents each, 2 metal "Easter" buckets for 50 cents each, 2 boxes of 24 cookies with all the decorating stuff for 99 cents each, 5 pairs of cute little girls socks(spring, not Easter) for 40 cents each, and egg with 3 lipsmackers for 39cents and a Hello Kitty change purse for 50 cents.

I got pretty much the same stuff, but also 50 bags of plastic eggs (600 total) for my friend's annual egg hunt! Not bag for $4.50! Oh, and 2 packs of Egg Hunt Signs for $1.00 each and a mini table runner for $1.29.

PLenty left on the shelf and I actually let some people who came over to that area know that some of the candy was more than the 50% off listed. I got 24 of the king size reeses, which is one box. There were probably 10-15 full boxes left there. My son loves these, so they will go in the fridge and he will eat them slowly over the next few weeks. Same thing with nerds, probably twice what I bought was left there. These are good for taking to the movies or for the ride to Disney this summer. I bought a lot of individually wrapped candy and jelly beans at Walmart 50% off to use in the candy buffet at my son's graduation party in June.

Even if someone did clean the shelf, why is it anyone else's business?

I dont think she was accusing you of not leaving any candy for other people. I think she just wanted to know what you guys did with all of that candy?

Sorry, but it did sound like the PP was saying we didn't leave anything for others.

Graduation is in less than 2 months, so it will be fine as long as it is kept in a cool place. I didn't buy any after Christmas because I wasn't sure it would still be good. As far as the Reeses, they won't have a chance to go stale with my 17 year old around Each pack has 2 Reese's eggs in it, for a total of 48. Maybe you guys were thinking of 24 6 packs? The candy I bought for graduation are things like jelly beans, nerds, smarties, and miniature reeses. I woudn't use eggs at a graduation party

Same weird markdowns in my local target, too. There was no rhyme or reason for the prices. Today my boyfriend and I got a 4 pack of Reese's peanut butter eggs for $1.50, and a bag of starburst jellybeans for $1.04. An Easter nerds rope, which I wanted most, scanned at $1.00, so I put that back! When I could get a whole bag of jelly beans for a little over $1, I figured that wasn't a good deal!

I found the same thing to be true in the Lincoln, RI store. The Snickers Eggs 6pack and chocolate bunnies were 90%, while the bags of jelly beans, Hershey miniatures, Reeses, etc were 50%.

They also had individual DeMets Giant Turtles (chocolate covered caramel pecan candies) in the dollar spot that were marked down to .30 each.

My biggest score was a light blue Nordic Ware Bundt Pan for $1.19 - regular price is $11.99. It was in the regular aisle with the other bundt pans, but had a lilac cardboard wrapper.

OP here. The Target I went to had lots of plastic eggs and grass. A few felt baskets. I saw a few table runners and other odds and ends. No clothing. Markdowns are determined by what is selling. The stuff people want and are buying will stay higher, and the stuff not moving will be cheaper. The customer is basically determining what they are what to pay. If people aren't buying at one price, it goes lower.

Actually my comment wasn't at all about taking all that was on shelf... it was a different direction of not wanting my house full of candy.not at any price. I tend to throw away good candy after a while cause we don't need it.

Eastern Orthodox Easter was today which may have been what was holding the prices of the candy at the higher level.

Today the bag candy went 70% off. I found some coupons last night, so I bought five bags of candy for $2 total. No go, on any remaining Nordicware.

I went today and all the candy was 90%, a bag of jellybeans didn't ring up and when I told the cashier she took the 90% off.
I didn't buy much because I still have all the chocolate I got from Amazon.
To the OP who asked why so much candy, I give it away to my church. My daughters are involved in alot of activities and thy love to bring treats to their friends. We eat healthy but every once in while especially around Easter, after lent it's nice to have and share a nice stash.
