Target Savings Thread

Has nayone been to target this week yet? Is there any good deals with their coupons? What about with Mani coupons as well?

thanks

I'd like to respond repectfully too. I appreciate yuor thoughts -- I hope you'll appreciate mine.

I'm not cheating any system. My coupons are printed out one at a time -- not photocopied. Often times, I print them at Target on their paper even.

I am playing the coupon game fairly. I will follow EXACTLY what the coupon says. If it doesn't specify a size, it's good on ANY size. If they wanted it on one size, they would have printed that on the coupon.

Trust me -- I know Target is a giant company and they pay the marketing people a hefty sum to make those coupons and to figure out what works. They know EXACTLY what they are doing. If they didn't, they wouldn't have size requirements printed on some coupons and not on others.

They WANT you to come in and be excited to buy some fruit snacks for free because almost all of the time, you will be buying something else as well. They make more money in the end having people buy the free fruit snacks than they do when that coupon doesn't exist.

ITA
and correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure someone will!) I believe the fruit snacks in question would be called *loss leaders*!?
(see mom, I AM using my college education! ;) )

DESCOVY, I totally see your point. I agree with you as well. I know if I'm getting "too good" of a deal. I think that some of the coupons are being abused. Instead of making a big stink about it (cashiers and customers) I would like corporate to fix the problem and make the fine print stipulate what the coupon is for. They have been doing it on occassion. For example...if you put 8 oz and up only then nobody will be using them to get free products or scamming the system.

I don't like ambiguous coupons that put the customer and the cashier in an awkward situation.

Don't get me wrong...I love a good deal but I want it to be known by the cashier and personally that it is a deal and not a steal. KWIM?

I appreciate the POV of the weary cashier - - I really do. I used to work in a dept store and dealt with all kinds of customers since I was 15 until I finished college. But this isn't a new phenomena either. My sister was a teenage cashier at a grocery store in the 80's. She HATED ringing coupons. My husband is a 44 yr old fully grown man, who cringes at the idea of using a coupon lest the cashier scorn him. Seriously!

IMO, there are a lot of emotions and preconceived notions on both sides of the transaction. Heck, even the people behind you in line have a hard time concealing their annoyance. Yet, coupons still exist. Why? Because the good folks in the marketing department (this is what my degree is in, btw, and finance) know that most people won't even clip the coupon, those who do might forget to bring them, those who do bring them might let them expire, and most importantly, those who are able to clip, remember, time it right and actually USE them will also buy other stuff while they're there. Because it's still human nature for 99% of people to buy other stuff they don't have a coupon for because of convenience or because of a little guilt that every item in the cart has a coupon for it, so they buy a few more things than they have Q's for.

I just hoped that in this economy, maybe things might start to evolve where there's less embarrassment over using a coupon, and less attitude by cashiers toward people who do. I'm at the point where I don't want to use internet Q's anywhere because they never scan right and I'm tired of the heavy sighs of the cashiers and people behind me. But I'm worried that the coupon printer companies are trying to migrate away from distributing their Q's in the Sunday paper in an effort to save money and soon we won't have a choice.

Thanks for the perspective though. I can sympathize to a large degree.

I am a Target shopper. I use coupons. I am also an underpaid cashier at a grocery store. What is the point of getting mad and a huge attitude at the customer for using coupons? I use coupons because every penny helps me out. If a coupon doesn't state a size or limit, then it's for any size!

Don't worry about it. Us coupons clippers aren't why you are underpaid making $7.50 an hour. It's called shrink. Maybe I'll get a raise when people stop hiding a $10 steak they changed their mind on, down the chip aisle.

As a coupon shopper and a grocery store employee I couldn't agree more. I personally love it when a couponer comes through my line with a deal, makes me check my stockpile of coupons and see what I can do.

Or maybe we will get a raise when those who feel it necessary to eat two pounds of grapes throughout their shopping experience or slip a ribeye or two in their purse remember that somebody has to pay the increase in prices on those high theft big ticket items. Coupons are redeemed for the value by the manufacturer...nobody is getting anything for free in the end when we are still paying sales tax for those 'free items'!

While I agree working with the public has its moments, I really don't think its the couponers that should get the bad rap. I see where you are coming from but also agree, fix the coupon to state what you mean in the first place or be glad there are shoppers in the store getting those one or two 'free' items along with all the other stuff that isn't.

I cant get this to print (for some reason smartsource.com coupons wont print for me)..

But http://www.smartsource.com/ on the last page is a B1G1 Easy Mac Cup coupon (can print twice)-- paired with the Target Easy Mac Coupon in their generator-- I think this comes up free w/ possible overage or very VERY cheap.

When you print out the coupons at target, how does it work, is there a button on the touch screen that links to them? thanks!:thumbsup2

Hi There! I'm having computer problems at home so I'm now limited to my work access and can't print coupons anymore! :guilty: Can anyone tell me if there's a Leapster coupon out in the coupon world??? At my Target (Hilton Head Island, SC) the Star Wars Leapster 2's were half off last week. It's a good deal but I'd like to pay less if possible so I'm trying to find a coupon or wait for them to be marked down even more.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Just back from target and some good deals to post:
I wont include my receipt because I did get quite a few non-sale items (sunscreen, towels, diapers, etc)...

Teddy Grams. With the manu coupon and the target coupon they had big bags of honey teddy grams for .02 cents after coupons
http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/Budget/whysnackrifice/whysnackrifice.aspx

If you like the chocolate (DH does).... they were .50cents a big box ($1 for 2 boxes)

Take the target .75 cent cleaning coupon from target.com (grocery coupons) and use it on the sponges. Makes 2 target brand cleaning kitchen sponges for .25cents.

Chex mix-- some stores have this on sale- some dont. I was able to get the bold party mix for $1 a big bag.... and they had the dark chocolate big bags for .50cents after target coupon (coupon found on target generator)

The target body wash coupon (target generator) can be used on target baby wash... making it approx .40cents... give or take a little by each store.

Hmm... ill have to check out my receipt and see what other deals I have. Dh is calling- we are in the yard working so I better go help. Ill come back later and post more!

Go to the kiosk and touch the screen. Then click on "shop target.com" or something like that. Scroll to the bottom of the screen (just like on the regular target.com) and click on "grocery coupons"... you can print them from there!:thumbsup2 Hope that helped!

Target had the Disney's Think Fast game for PS2 (works with PS3) on clearance for $20. Also had Kingdom Hearts for $10

Just wanted to say we have Disney Think Fast for the wii (thanks Santa;)) and the whole family enjoys it. You don't need to be an expert (DS3 even wins questions-and he plays by himself along with the rest of us) as you can set your knowledge level (and game length). When GGrandma was visiting last week, DD11 talked her into playing a game...when the game was over she looked at DD and said, "okay, let's do that again!" :rotfl: We really enjoy it as a family.

Also wanted to add, that my Target also had this on clearance and it was the one that came with the buzzers for that price.

I just purchased the $39.99 Limited edition Leapster 2 Star Wars set at Target, thanks to the person who posed it. I had a coupon from a while back that I had printed from the Leap Frog site for $10 off Leapster 2, so it made it $29.99 for the Leapster 2 set and the Jedi Math game, great deal:cool1:. Below is the link I printed mine from, I tried to print from it and it said there were none left. That may be because I printed them from this computer, but may not. The one I had expired today. If it doesn't work, I'm sorry, but $39.99 is still a good deal for the Leapster 2 and the game.
