Wanted to let anyone who might use this know what I experienced....
I went to Target this morning to get this and the cashier did not want to let me use these coupons AND get the gc. She went and got a manager who told her to "take them". She did let me use them but had attitude and told me she "can't wait til Target stops taking internet coupons". I told her if that happened it would cost Target some business.

The cashier seriously said that to you? I would have told her that I couldn't wait until I got a cashier without an attitude problem. A couple of the cashiers at my local Target are pissy when I use coupons too, I just smile and double check my receipts.
I don't see what the big deal is with Target cashiers and not wanting to take coupons, it's not like the $$ comes out of their pay.

I think it's 1 part power and 1 part laziness. Just like the PP said above, they get to interpret what item matches the Q you used (like the picture of the Teddy Bear matching the one on the bag!?! sheesh...). And two, you are asking them to *gasp* type in information above and beyond scanning bar codes. I mean, really - - it's a LOT of work for them!

I caught a little attitude from a cashier today also, but it is because EVERY time I shop the Target coupons won't scan. I have even printed them from their kiosk in the store with the same results. Well today the guy (had scoped for a younger one) was typing in all the numbers on the coupon rather than just entering a "generic" coupon and the amount. He even apologized to the person in line behind me - one lady, with no lines at other registers. I commented about the problem being with the Target coupons and he snapped back it is because I am printing them on a computer. WELL DUH! Where else would I print them??? I told him about the kiosk coupons having the same problem, but he didn't say anything back. My husband even commented when we left at how rude the guy was.
That being said, we were able to use the Glade coupons AND get a gift card. DH was very impressed with that one! Also used the Teddy Graham coupon to get the bags of various treats (nutter butters, teddy grahams, chips ahoy cookies). It's interesting that another poster had problems, because if you read the coupon it doesn't even say Teddy Grahams. I aslo had a $1 off a Dole bagged salad, so we got mixed greens for .99. We bought a ton of other groceries, so my bill was quite high...but these were the really great deals!
It is interesting to see the Target coupons because they typically are corresponding to a sale or reduction of price of some sort. That is what cracks me up about the cashiers having issues - it's their store putting the coupons out!

I have been reading about the NOVA Targets that aren't very friendly when it comes to coupon use.

If you don't mind the extra drive visit the SuperTarget on Route 28 outside of Manassas towards Bristow. I have no problems using any of my printed coupons and the cashiers have always been nothing but friendly when I check out using them.

One time my coupon charged me $3322. instead of deducting the .55cents. The cashier was great and fixed it and even the manager had a chuckle.

So the cashier was manually overriding every one of them (bless her heart) but when the manager walked by, she kind of gave him a "help me" sigh. He stops by and she tells him the Q's aren't scanning. His snippy reply was "then that's just too bad.

A lot of Target people are like that -- especially if they think you are one of those guests who will never set foot in a Walmart, no matter what.

If they won't scan, we won't take them. Tell her that's our policy" Mind you, I was 18 inches away from him and obviously could hear him.

It's true (it is Target policy -- if the coupon doesn't scan, they won't accept it) -- the best workaround to this is make sure you have a good, clean print of the barcodes on the coupons. If your printer at home isn't up to the task, find a laser printer and use that, instead.

I live in Fairfax, VA and the Target at Springfield Mall is the worse. I've had the employee follow me around and then come up to the cashier and tell her that she can only take one of my coupons for each item even if I have more than one that item then she examined each one, held it up to the light and everything. I was like are you for real, I did make sure to let her know what the Target policy is and how I did not appreciate the way she was treating me a theft by following me around the store then giving me a hard time about my coupon. She just shrugged it off like I was insane, so that is one Target I will not go to with my coupons. I do however love the Burke store, nice clean and pretty well stocked.

My target is the WORST !
It is beyond worse than any of our other discount stores.
Whle its still the most fun, I try to avoid it.
On the other hand, our Walmart rocks.

I do that with my Target coupons if I end up wanting more than I printed at home. I also tell people in the store that they can go up there to save money if they are buying something that is included in the store coupons.

Found a few deals without really trying. The Chex Mix Target coupon made me money today. They had some on clearance for $.84 and the cashier gave me the full $1 off. They also had Target brand baby wipes on clearance for $6.xx for 432 wipes. I found Huggies night time pull-ups on clearance for $8.74 and I had a coupon for $2 off.

I tried to get the Glade candle, but the scents this Target had weren't really great...orange and apple. I passed hoping that my regular Target will have something better.

Sigh... I just got off from a long shift and I am feeling a little feisty. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I feel the need to speak my peace... respectfully.

I am a cashier at Target. Been there 18 mos. I make a measly $7.50 an hour. I am personally a coupon clipper, and love when I get a great deal (hello manuf coupon + target coupon! sweet!) I am by all accounts a frugal shopper. But I am so so tired of being harrassed by guests who try to cheat the system with coupons and get downright rude to me. Bothers me more when they do it in front of their own young children. (and on a Sunday in their church clothes too!)

For example, the save $1.00 off Market Pantry fruit snacks was meant for the box of 8-10...not the little sack at checkout we sell for 89 cents. You and I both know that. You and I both also know that it doesn't *specify* that. So off you go, with 10 photocopied coupons in tow, and buy 10 individual baggies of fruit snacks. You tell all your friends to do the same. And brag at what a good coupon clipper you are. Now management is noticing a lot of coupons going through not as they were intended. So they make sure the cashier knows that it is one coupon per transaction. (Says so in the fine print) They'll deal with the loss for one, but not a whole pantry worth.

You ask, why does the cashier get on such a power trip? Why does she care? We care because our supervisor has us sign a paper that we agree to adhere to the coupon rule. We care because not only are we on camera, but each and every keystroke is recorded and anything "out of the ordinary" (like handkeying a *ton* of bogus coupons is noted. We care because we'd rather keep our job and our supervisor happy with us in this uncertain economy. Your attempts at "taking advantage" of free fruit snacks are not worth our job. Sorry.

And yes, sure, you could (and many do) scope out the registers for some new employee or young kid. Take advantage of the fact that they do not know or care. So they later get in trouble. And you know what? Enough people try to take advantage, and the good coupons disappear!

Granted it has been a long day. It is always fun to get a great deal. But please play the coupon game fairly. It will benefit all us consumers who love to use coupons in the long run. And if you are going to try to get a dozen identical "somethings" for "nothing" don't be a jerk to the cashier when you don't get your way.

I'm sure you have a hard job and ITA that we should all play the coupon game fairly.

However I have to disagree w/the part I bolded above. I won't/don't believe that the "big dogs" in Target that decide what coupons to put out don't realize what they are doing when they don't specify a size/amount on a coupon. I'm fairly certain they know exactly what they are doing.

Make the coupon so people can go by the overpriced "grab items" by the checkout counter and pick them up. Then they look and see the over-priced individual bags of snacks and candy and pick some of them up while they are there.

Like I said, I don't believe they just accidently let a coupon like that go by. I don't think it's just one person making up the coupons in his office and putting them online. There's bound to be countless people analyzing each coupon they put out, I don't believe there are mistakes.

I don't know anyone on this board specifically that bought snack sized. But I take offense to the comment about photocopies coupons. They are Target coupons that I am printing off my computer or Targets very own computer. If I take the time to print them, why can't I use them? It's not my fault that even your own computer at the store prints coupons that beep when I clearly bought an 8oz box of Nabisco cookies that should be $1 off with your coupon. It also says one per transaction if I am not mistaken. I was a cashier myself at one time...I know that people will just make you ring up separate transactions for each item if Target wants to push it. If they want long lines, that is what will happen. I would be more than happy to split my transaction up into one item at a time. I spend a lot of money at Target without coupons. That is where I pretty much do all of my shopping. If they want to loose customers over a few dollars, then that's their choice.

I agree that the coupons aren't photocopied. I got into an argument with a cashier once at Target because she said my Target coupons were photocopied. In all honesty- its the most ridiculous thing IVE EVER HEARD. Target coupons, of ALL coupons in the world, can be printed as many times as you like. I wouldnt photocopy them... I simply print them multiple times-- even from their kiosks (on their blue paper). There are no limits-- so what is the big deal.

I understand the "one coupon per transaction"-- however, I simply tell the cashier that they can ring them up all at once, or split them up as many times as they wish. Your computer doesnt know the difference in one coupon per transaction-- but the cashier does.

If Target wants to stop having coupons- then they need to stop coming out with them. Otherwise, the Supervisors AND Cashiers need to become better informed of their coupon policy. One per transaction isn't the same as "one per visit"- so you could break it up into 100 transactions (and this is when cashiers tend to get a little upset). Hence, we go to the young cashiers, who are more relaxed and easy-going and simply take life with stride. They put our coupons through- they are nice and friendly-- and if it were commission based im sure they would probably make a lot more than most. Ive had the same young cashiers ringing me up forever, and honestly don't feel as though they will get fired for putting my Target coupon and Manu coupon through (since that is targets policy).

As for the for MP Fruit Snacks at the register-- someone at my store and beat me to all of them- otherwise I sure would have purchased them. I don't think the photo should be what makes the coupon specific (As a matter of fact i love my printer because it never even shows the photo-- just the words and numbers). It matters what the print says-- and it says off MP fruit snacks-- those qualify, therefore- they are free. I agree with a PP that it gets you in their store, gets you looking at their 'impulse buys' and all in all-- most couponers leave the store spending more money than they intended to go in and spend.

I print my target coupons at their store. saves me ink I use my manufactors coupons-printed or from the papwer without a issue at my supertarget. she took all 8 of mine today... its the same cashiers and they are all very nice..

All of this is why I LOVE CVS !!!! I never ge a hard time there and the cashiers are excted about how much I save !! I am not cheating the system I always chck for size limits etc ! n all fairness Target is not the only store that gives you a hard time Walgreens is even worse I have called corporate on our Walgreens and they were told I was right and they were wrong !!So jus because the Manager at a particular Targe says this is so does not mean Corporate says so !

Not going to flame you but I wanted to point out that my response was about the post below. I don't understand why an employee felt the need to give a customer an attitude about taking internet coupons after a manager had okay'd the trasaction.

I do understand that working with the public can be a thankless and difficult job, I have done it for 10+ years myself. I am not one of those coupon clippers who tries to bend the rules, and my post had nothing to with that. I was only agreeing with the fact that most of the Target cashiers (that I have experienced) seem to dislike it when you walk up to the register with coupons, printed or otherwise. It just seems to me that since Target promotes the coupons (since you can even print them in the store) the cashiers in general could be a little more pleasant when accepting them.

I'd like to respond repectfully too. I appreciate yuor thoughts -- I hope you'll appreciate mine.

I'm not cheating any system. My coupons are printed out one at a time -- not photocopied. Often times, I print them at Target on their paper even.

I am playing the coupon game fairly. I will follow EXACTLY what the coupon says. If it doesn't specify a size, it's good on ANY size. If they wanted it on one size, they would have printed that on the coupon.

Trust me -- I know Target is a giant company and they pay the marketing people a hefty sum to make those coupons and to figure out what works. They know EXACTLY what they are doing. If they didn't, they wouldn't have size requirements printed on some coupons and not on others.

They WANT you to come in and be excited to buy some fruit snacks for free because almost all of the time, you will be buying something else as well. They make more money in the end having people buy the free fruit snacks than they do when that coupon doesn't exist.
