Target RedCard ????

I do not have a Target card, but I have been seeing all the posts about 5% back. I am just curious, do you get 5% at the register, or is there a 5% discount on your bill when it arrives?

Those of you who have used it to buy $50.00 disney gift cards, do you get 5% off and the $10 target gift card? Or do you have to buy something else to bring your total to $50 after 5%?

I am not a huge Target shopper, but I did take advantage of the $10 gift card with $50 purchase coupon to finish up my Christmas list. 5% off on top would have been sweet. I need another card like a hole in my head though.....

It's a debit card. It gives you 5% off at the register. With the gift cards, though, it has been $48 for a $50 gift card, since it factors in the $10 you're getting back, giving you 5% off $40 instead of 5% of $50. Don't need to buy anything else, just the $50 gift card for a total of $48 works fine for the coupon.

The only debit cards I have ever had have been through a bank. If you get a debit card through a store, like target, then you have to load money before you shop?

You can so debit or credit. 2 different cards, both 5% off at time of sale.

The debit card is linked to your existing checking account. When I signed up, they used a blank check to get my info, so the money is actually coming from my existing Chase checking account.

You can get a credit card as well. The 5% comes right off the top. For the free $10 Target GiftCard with $50 purchase, you end up paying $48 (so 4% off) because the value of the $10 free GiftCard is deducted off the price it calculates for your % off (not sure how it does that since you still end up having to pay $48 and you can't use that free GiftCard as payment for that transaction.)

My Target wouldn't let me use the coupons to buy gift cards today. Last week I purchased $400 without a blink of an eye.

Going back later to try again. Need another $500 to finish up.
