Is there a limit to how many you can buy in the store or the amount you can put on them?
Going this weekend to purchase them so I can pay off our trip.

Store managers have been known to place limits on how many a customer can purchase. You will also be subject to the credit limit on your Target card.

Buy one gift card. Then go home and go to Target.com then buy as much as you need and they will email you the codes, which you can go to DISNEYGIFTCARD DOT COM and then merge them all onto the hard one and pay for it with one transaction after all that work.

Target.com won't allow you to buy as much as you like. There's a limit of 3 of each denomination per order. And Target has been known to cancel orders if their fraud detection software flags a large purchase.

100% not true. Ive paid off 5k in trips this way. They have 500$ options. Buy 1500 at a time then. Sure you most likely cant get 5k in gift cards in one order.

May I ask a dumb question? Why do you not just call Disney with your debit card number and pay off the trip? Why go through all this extra work just to pay off a trip?

Don't you pay a fee to use/activate those cards?
Nope. My Target credit card is free. I even pay my DVC dues with Disney Gift cards. I do better than only 5% when I have time to work the system and get better discounts. I usually get more than 10% off on cards I use for my $2000 in DVC dues. I'll only use digital gift cards from Target if I run out of time or out of gift cards at the parks. For instance, I had to buy my DD a park pass at the last minute and that took a bite out of my stash for my May trip. I ended up having to buy $1000 worth while at WDW, but I saved $30 over my best credit card which would save me 2%.

Umm....then you cannot buy as much as you want in one order, which is exactly what I said.

And yes, Target's fraud department has been known to cancel orders if they suspect fraud. I've been around long enough to see plenty of posts to that effect.

Thanks everyone.
I was hoping to purchase 4 $500 dollar cards, add them to my Disney acct on the mobile app and pay my trip off like that. Just wasn’t sure how Target handled it.
I’m assuming Disney doesn’t have a limit on cards used either? I would hate to get stuck with my trip payoff money on the cards not allowed😂

So what we do (I have a Target Red Card with a $500 limit) is as we are saving for our WDW or DCL trips, continually buy $500 Disney Gift Cards, one at a time, on Target.com (at a cost of $475). Then I roll that digital gift card onto the hard cards I have stored on the my Disney gift cards site. Then we pay off our Target card, and the next time we're ready to save another $500 for Disney we repeat the process.

That said, I'm not sure there's a way to do this instantly. We usually do this over time as we're saving.

I ran into this getting ready for our most recent trip, I didn’t have enough time or a high enough red card credit limit to buy the amount of Disney gift cards at 5% off that I wanted two weeks before the trip. I kept buying the gift cards and paying off my Target card ASAP and it got flagged for potential money laundering. I ended up asking a friend to use her red card to buy Disney gift cards too and then I paid her back.

Also, just an FYI, they will run the credit card on file at like 2am the morning you’re going to check out. So you will want to stop at the front desk and give them the gift card in advance or else you’ll have to get them to refund your credit card and recharge the gift card in the morning.

The maximum denomination I’ve purchased is $500 and there was a limit on Target.com.
The maximum you can transfer to 1 GC on the Disney Gift Card website $1000. Just did this for park tickets in March and it took some time to buy tickets one at a time. In my experience, Disney websites only allow one GC per transaction. Saved $200 on $4000…

That makes sense as a strategy. I've only ever bought like 1-2 cards per month while saving so I think it never came up as a problem but I can see what you mean.

When we paid off our upcoming trip with Gift Cards I did them by phone -- I'm also a travel agent so I spend a lot of time on the phone with Disney anyway. :-)

I wonder if I could just buy a $500 card off target.com go to my mydisneyexperience, apply the card and pay on the trip amount. Do this each day for 3 days until paid off?

I bought $1500 worth of Disney gift cards on 3/29 and I was fine. I combined 2 of them into one card and used them to pay for park passes.

That should work for a Disney perspective. However, it usually takes me a few days for my Target card to clear after I pay it off (and I call and pay by debit card, which one can't do online) so I'm not waiting for the transaction to go through my bank account.

Well, after opening the Red Card. I went to buy a $500 gc at target.com for email delivery and they canceled my order.
I have never had an order cancel for no reason. I have a $2200 credit limit with nothing on the card. When I called to inquire, they can’t even tell me why..just said they will send it for review and I should hear something in 2 days.
Very frustrating! I think the headache with this card isn’t worth the $100 bucks I’ll save, so I’ll cancel it and use my Chase Disney or Sapphire, never have a issue with them!
