I don't get any prescriptions, so I never qualify for the 5% coupon. It never occurred that I could buy a coupon on ebay.... Can I still do that and get 5% of Disney gift card with my red card and an additional 5% off with a coupon bought off the ebay?

TIA!

I believe you can, at least that is why I'm interested in doing the same thing. The real issue is that you'll need to spend a lot of money to make the coupon worth it. These coupons on eBay have been selling for anywhere between $50-$100 (or more!). Taking an average of $75, you'd have to spend $1,500 in gift cards to break even.

You can find the rare deal that goes for only $30 or so, which I'm still trying to pick one up. After that, I'll apply for my red card and get the 10% off!!

Good grief! What are people buying with them that make it worth that much?

You can sell these coupons on ebay for over $50??? I had no idea. I am totally selling mine from now on.

Wow, I just went and looked there, that is crazy! I would totally sell mine for what they are going for on ebay. I don't get it.
I see people selling their other coupons too, including the catalinas that print at the register??? I throw 90% of those away because they are for stuff I don't buy. I guess I should pay more attention.

You'd be amazed at the garbage people sell on eBay. Those Catalina coupons can be of value for the right items, but most of them people view as garbage and do exactly as you mention (including myself).

I have to assume people buying the pharmacy rewards coupons are planning on making big purchases (i.e., Christmas?). I am interested in getting a discount on gift cards, but as I mentioned, you'd have to spend $1,500 to break even after buying the voucher. My other guess is that people don't put a lot of thought into the economics of what they are trying to do. That is, they value the right to get a 5% discount without factoring the cost to obtain that right. But what do I know ... :confused3

On a side note, if anybody has extra rewards coupons, I'd love one to save money on my upcoming family trip!!

It's interesting that the coupon says non-tranferrable and has your name on it (at least mine did). I used it last week and the cashier told me "you can use it all day and give it to a friend when you're done".

There's some who aren't eligible for the pharmacy discounts. Those living in New Jersey, New York and Arkansas (however, I can't see stores in those states being able to accept these coupons).

And those whose insurance is partially funded by the US government. At first, it was thought to be those on Medicare. However, it turned out that it meant all types of insurance partially funded by the US government. Including Armed Forces and Federal Employee insurance.

Several years ago, Walgreens was fined several million dollars for giving gift cards to federal employees for switching their prescriptions over to them.

Hurts me big time. I'm a Federal Employee with a number of scripts every month. That extra 5% would come in handy.

Anyway, I'm thinking it's feds or retired on Medicare that could be buying up these discounts on eBay.

We are military and use Tricare for our pharmacy prescriptions. I've gotten (and used) three 5% coupons since I've signed up.

So strange! I've been told by multiple employees (yes, I've asked several times) and was told since I have Tricare I wasn't eligible. Maybe I'll ask again?

I'm really trying to figure this out. How much money are the people spending to make it worthwhile to buy this coupon for over $100?

Is there something they can do with the name or code on it that will trace back to you sellers?

I wouldn't think so, but now I'm paranoid about having sold one.

As a side note, nice to see a fellow Brevard resident on here :)

I thought the Pharmacy discount no longer applied to gift cards.

Yes you are correct Debbie. Just a few months ago Target discontinued the ability to get the 5% pharmacy discount but the 5% red card discount still works at least that was the case a few weeks ago.
