I went to Target to buy my Mom digital camera she wanted. The store I was at had a camera on clearance for $64.98, but they were sold out.

They looked up on their computer and said a nearby store had them in stock.
I went to the store and they had the same camera, but it was not on clearance. They had it for $79.99 and they told me it was discontinued. I went ahead and bought it, after explaining that I saw it on clearance at the other store. I was told that each store puts different things on clearance, not all stores have the same thing on clearance. This was on Friday Jan 1st.

Today, Jan 5th I go back to the same store I bought the camera from and saw they NOW have it on clearance!!
I have the receipt, I went to customer service and asked if I could have a price adjustment since I just bought the camera 4 days ago (and told them I saw it on clearance at another store)

I was told I could only get the clearance price if I returned the camera to the store and repurchased it. I already gave the camera to my Mom. She lives a good half hour from me. As much as I would like to get the difference in the money back, I am not sure if it is worth the drive and time to go back to my Mom's house, pick up the camera, bring it back here return it, buy it again and then drive it back to my Moms (KWIM?)

Do you know if I go back and speak to the store manager would I have any chance of getting the money back just by having the receipt?

I doubt it. I purchased a cordless telephone from them. It was on clearance when I bought it. A few days later, I was at Target again and noticed that the price had been lowered again. I happened to have my receipt with me and went to CS on the way out. I was told that their policy doesn't allow them to make price adjustments on clearance items. I had already thrown out the box and packaging, so there was no way for me to return and repurchase the phone. Oh well.

You can always ask, but I don't expect them to go against their policy.

Just buy a new camera at the store and return that one with the original receipt. You will not have to worry about going and getting it from your mom then and you will in the end get it for the lower price.

Back in the proverbial day I worked at Circuit City and if one store had an item for a price we all did. Now, if one had a price mis-marked we would honor the price at our store, we just had to call and confirm. The only time this was not the case is if the item was open box. Those were priced differently. That is what the store should have done from a customer service point of view. I can't say what their policy is though.

For all that hassle of getting it back from/to your mom, or else going back and having to complain to the manager, I'd just let it go. It's just $15, and the time and energy and potential frustration isn't worth $15 to me.

Great solution IMO!

I did think of doing that. I drive by this Target all the time so I really am not going out of my way to try to get the $15 back.

Been there, done that, will do it again. And there will be those that say, "it's just a few bucks", but I tend to look at the over all picture of when you take all of those few bucks and add them up, you can come up with a nice chuck of money. I don't care if it's 2 buck here, 10 bucks there, by the end of the year, you could have saved yourself a couple hundred bucks.

I've done the buy it again and return the new one with the old receipt thing before. It works. Just make sure they won't charge you a restocking fee. :)
