Target Cartwheel worth it?

You make it sound like scanning your items adds an inordinate amount of time to a shopping trip. I don't think that it adds more than a couple minutes to any of my trips. Maybe it's because I'm not buying 50-60 items at a time (more like 10 or fewer different items). Or maybe it's because it has become second nature to me. I open the app and I keep it running until I've added the last item to my cart. Then I open my mobile coupons and head to the checkout. It's really not that time-consuming.

That's the difference. I very rarely only have 10 or less items when I go to Target. Usually more like 20 or 30 at least. So it would add a significant amount of time for me. Add in the fact that I would have 2 kids fighting over who was going to do the scanning and it just wouldn't work out for me. Doesn't mean that it's not the right fit for you.

I think the more you use it, the more you get to know what's likely to be on there. For instance, Archer Farms is on there a lot, so if I decide to get that over a brand name, I'll scan it. If I decide to stick with brand name, I don't bother.

Also, when debating whether or not to buy something I usually scan it and that could sway me one way or the other.

I do almost all of my grocery shopping at Target and today I managed to double my cartwheel savings that I went in with by scanning - and I only scanned 2 items!!

Cartwheel is totally worth it! I've been using it since it started and have saved almost $400. Most offers are only 5 - 10% and those add up slowly. But there are also sometimes higher % offers. I've seen 50% off certain clothes, toys, food and more. Right now there is a 40% off Smuckers Fruitfuls. I've been combining that with a coupon and getting a box of 4 applesauce pouches for .12. I look at the new offers every morning on the website and add anything I think I will need or might make a good deal (offers are limited and sometimes will all be taken quickly). Only takes a few minutes and if I only save a few cents thats a few cents I keep in my pocket instead of giving to Target.

I use it when I remember. Haven't saved a ton, but every little bit counts. Those of you saying you scan things as you put them in your cart must have way more time to shop then me!!
It literally takes seconds to scan items, I pick up the item, scan it, put it in my cart. I add the discount, if there is one, as I head to pick up the next item on my list. In my case it doesn't even add minutes, and if the checkout lines are long I can actually scan everything in my cart while I'm waiting to check out. And no, I don't have a lot of time to shop.

I have more like 20-30 items and I still don't think it adds minutes to my trip, but this is the same way I do it when I shop. :)

I go to Super Target once a week--my cart is overflowing. Scanning every items would add quite a bit of time--figure a good 20 seconds per item...that adds 20 min. to my trip if I have 60 items.

Oh, well, I tried it--much simpler to scan over the ad on Sunday & get my 5% off with my debit card. Working full-time with 2 busy teens, I love to save $, but there has to be a cost-time benefit.

It doesn't take 20 seconds, it takes less than 5 IME. I work full time, have an 18 year old that works full time (that I have to drive around because she has no car or license, her choice, not mine) and a very busy 14 year old, I work a standard M-F work week plus another part time job as well. IME Cartwheel is easier than scanning the ad or clipping coupons so I will continue to use it. :) ymmv but for me it is worth it.

I didn't say 10 items. I said 10 or few DIFFERENT items. I don't count items that have the same bar code because they will scan the same. It's not unusual for my cart to contain 4-8 of the same item. So I normally have 30-50 items in my cart.

I've saved over $60 with Cartwheel just in the few months I've been using it and I don't have a local Target so I'm only there every 6 weeks or so (it's a 45 min drive for me). I find I can save on a lot of items when I combine my RedCard discount, printed coupons and CartWheel. Yes it takes some time to print and match the coupons but saving money is rarely quick and easy. I usually scan through and clip the CW savings that are things I'd be likely to buy and then only scan things in the store that I think I may have seen on the app or bigger purchases just to check. It doesn't add a lot of time and I certainly don't scan EVERYTHING I buy. Just items that seem likely to be on the app. I've gotten womens jeans for $10 and kids shoes for less than $10, t-shirts for my son have been as low as $8 with coupons and CW. It's been a great tool and really easy too.
