Tapping In

Newer rides at WDW don’t have two tap points. This includes both Star Wars rides, Remy, Guardians, TRON, Tiana, and even Test Track 3.0 doesn’t have a second tap installed. I’m surprised TT doesn’t because it would be super easy to move over to LL from the single rider line there.

I think the last ones to get them installed were Slinky and Alien Saucers.

Not all groups using the push to the second tap point are trying to use it as a throwaway LL.

Many are just wanting to be able to book their next LLMP attraction. Unless you follow them to the chicken exit elevator at ToT there is no way to confirm.

The groups that were “Ghost Tapping” at Tower pushed their way through the crowd to the 2nd tap point then came back out the way they went in and inconvenienced everyone in line a 2nd time. That was a pretty good confirmation that they weren’t going to ride.

This is getting too complicated for me. 🤣 I guess that's why I don't really bother with the throw-away selections.
We’re the same way. The 7 day advanced booking window let us choose the most popular attraction in each park first, and usually by 9:30. There was no real need for a throwaway.

That’s just rude, IMO. Pushing ahead of someone so you can use the 2nd tap point and then push your way back out is just bad form all around.🙄

And they were very loud about it too. "WE'RE JUST GHOST TAPPING" like everybody in the line would know what they were up to.

It's nonsense like that that makes me thing Disney should make you ride if you tap-in? "Ghost Tapping? I don't think so. Strap in, you're riding Figment - 20 times in a row!" 😁

I guess I don't follow why Disney would have 2 tap points on a ride, what is the purpose?

It's to prevent people from hopping over the rail from the Stand-By queue. It would be easy to do on rides like Space Mountain with the long corridor that isn't supervised. Some rides don't really need it because it's not as easy to cut over, or it's close and easily monitored.

The unofficial answer was / is to prevent guests in the standby queue from switching to the LL (FP or Genie+) after the first tap point. A side effect of having long queues that run parallel.
