Hi all,
Sat Dec 6th will be our first day at disney, I dont think we can get to a MVMCP so is it worth braving the crowds so my little boy gets to see the xmas parade, or I am totally insane to even think of going that day. Could I maybe spend most of the day in another park then just go to the Magic Kingdom for the parade.
PLease Help
thanks

andygrint-

We will be arriving that day as well. I may be wrong, but I don't beleive the Christmas Parades start running during normal operating hours until the week before Christmas. They run the regular parade (Share a Dream Come True) during the day and only do the Christmas parades during the special admission Christmas Party's during this time period. Hope this helps with your planning.

Actually, the buzz is that the xmas parade will be taped on Sat the 6th. So even though the afternoon parade will be the regular parade up through about the 20th, there will be a xmas parade on Sat the 6th.

I haven't seen anyone post what time though. When we saw it a couple of years ago, the xmas parade ran at 10:00 in the morning.

We were at MK last year for the taping of the Christmas parade. I may "say" they'll start at 1000, but they do a lot of stop and starting, so plan on remaining in place (if you wish to see the whole parade) for 2 hours or more. Regis and what's her name were there for the taping, too. It was kind of surreal staring down the street toward the castle and seeing section by section start their trek down the street. The people taping had crowd runners who went out and got the crowds fired up and noisy when each section would begin down the street. If you're lucky you may be chosen for a short interview to air the day of the parade. A tip: act enthusiastic and wearing matching or dopey outfits may help a family get chosen. Have fun! We had lunch sitting curbside watching the hoopla.

Anybody know ehere Regis stays when he is in for the taping of thr X-Mas parade? :chat:

Where do Regis and Kelly sit, is there a main area which each float "performs" and if so where is it normally... i.e., like at Macy's when they stop on the stars and perform and that's usually what you see on TV... Also when you enter the park that day do they tell you what is going on ... how early should we grab a spot?
Thanks for all the help!

2angels.....i think Harley-mouse ment the hotel....i think last year neither stayed over...they flew in and out.

The taping last year took 7 hrs +...I was there the entire time...It was a fun experience and I'd do it again....but the parade is run out of sequence and in very small sections for the taping....and there is no regular parade that day either..

Harley-Mouse asked where they stay, I'm wondering where they sit.... like the "juding area"... you know what I'm talking about?

We were there in 2001, a friend saw Regis and Joy (his wife) coming out of the elevator in the morning at the GF. He did Millionaire shows that week also (we went to one of the tapings) and they also did tapings of Regis & Kelly at MGM.

Regis & Kelly were in Town Square for the taping in 2001, but if I recall last year they were closer to the castle (just from watching it on TV).

It was posted on another thread that Star Jones will tape a spot in the Animal Kingdom on Nov 30 and Ericka Dunlap (Miss America) will tape a spot in MK on Dec 7. The celebrity spots are not all taped on the same day as the parade.

So no celebrities actually RIDE in the parade? I seem to remember from watching it in the past there were some!

My sister and I are seriously trying to decide whether to go to the parade taping or go elsewhere for the day.

Also waiting to see if anybody knows what time we should get there to get good seats, & WHERE the best seats are!!

Thanks!

If you want to see the taping, you're better off getting there early in the morning and plan on spending the entire morning there. I remember a couple years ago, the taping was pretty much wrapped up by 1:00 or so. We hung around main street for the beginning but it was alot of stopping and starting, so we went further into the park and ended up back by Hall of Presidents where they were handing out little flags and telling us all to cheer when the bands came by. It was alot of fun and very exciting! I did see Regis and Joy coming off the elevator at the Grand Floridian and also saw Kelly's husband, Mark, with their son, getting on the Pooh ride - back doored, of course!

I would stay in th MK because The parade has tons of people standing to watch so get there real early

If you're wanting to tape the parade as it runs, without all the stopping and performing that it does for the cameras, your best bet is to tape it at the 4:00 showing, if they do that again this year. All morning, and into the afternoon last year, it was start and stop, do and redo for the cameras until they got it just right, etc. and it wouldn't have made a very good videotape.

But at 4:00, as a sort of 'thank you' to the guests who had put up with all the ruckus all day long, they ran the Christmas parade in its entirety, without interruption for all to enjoy.

Here are some pics of the goings-on early in the day last year, with Regis and Kelly and some of the other celebrities.

When we saw it in 2001, they said no cameras while they were taping. I guess they didn't want shots of the crowd with people holding up cameras or any flashes. That year it was held on a Thursday morning, it was not well publicized and there wasn't a big crowd.
