Taping of Christmas Parade now November 10-13???

The purpose of us booking this trip was to give our daughter an early birthday celebration in Disney as due to her ADHD and SPD she can't deal with heavy crowds, long lines, etc. for her actual birthday on 12/19. So as a shout out to Disney, thanks for killing that. Our first MK day and the MVMCP party that we booked for 11/10 will now be packed beyond belief, and the other guests not wanting to deal with the heavy crowds of MK will swarm over to the other parks on 11/11, 11/12 and 11/13. I just want to cry. This whole trip between IT glitches and problems with our reservation and account, and now this, has been nothing even close to 'magical' and we haven't even gotten there yet.

And, far from "everyone" says that it is "bad."

The only part of the park that the parade taping affects is Main St. USA and/or the Hub.
The rest of MK is "business as usual" for that time of year until after about 2:30PM.

They have announced the dates and they are in November, as stated by OP. I would not think that week as light. That is veteran's day week and many schools have one or two days off. I know relatives who tried to get a couple nights that week and there is nothing available at the resorts.

I feel the same way. I'm so upset. I felt like we worked really hard to find the best dates for our schedule and it has been one thing after another thrown at us. We have only been there once before and this could very likely be our last trip. I'm so worried that we are throwing our hard earned money down the drain.

Sorry you're bummed about this. The news actually made me happy. It's an unexpected surprise for us. We'll be there that week and I look forward to seeing all the excitement. I have friends who have been during tapings and it pretty much affects Main Street. It's a great time to get on rides!

We are there the same week. I'm not to worried about it. I'm thinking if everyone is on Main Street then the rest of the park should be fine. Also I'm not sure how light the crowds were gonna be anyway. Trying to get a room and ADRs was tough this time around. Would love to read more from people who have been there at that time though.

I'm praying this is the case. I would think though that if people come to the park for the taping, after the taping is done or inbetween they'll remain in the park for the rides/events. And again, just IMO, but wouldn't the guests that would otherwise want to go to MK that day and change their mind because of the taping cause a ripple affect and make the other parks busy?

I am sorry for the OP, but I am actually happy about this. Since 2008 I have been going during the general time period of the taping and MK holds off on putting the tree up supposedly because of a site line issue with the cameras. In fact, only once in all that time has the tree been up for me. I am looking forward to finally seeing it again . . . of course, this will be the year that due to "guest demand" they won't put it up.

Edited to add: MK has the tree up before and then takes it down for the parade taping. Last year, it was rainy the day they were taping Ariana Grande's performance. Little did I know she would get caught up in Donut-Gate barely a year later.

FoF will not take place on a day when they are actually recording the "Christmas Parade,"
but, we don't yet know on which day or days that would be happening.

I went unknowingly last year during the taping. I followed the crowd at RD down Main Street not knowing what was happening so I ventured off towards Adventureland bridge cause people were piling up right in front of the castle. A CM asked if I wanted to see the taping. I asked if the rides were open & when she said yes I took off! I rode so many rides the next few hours!! I didn't even have to get off Big Thunder, but after 3 in a row I needed to. Splash had no line. I think until about 11-12ish lines were minimal. My advice for taping days is go early, be ready to roll with it & avoid wherever the cameras/crowds are cause it worked out really well for me!

we will be there as well for our first family vacation to wdw. we can either sit around worrying about it or just shrug and say oh well, beyond my control! and still have the best time we can. hope everyone's vacations are terrific and try not to worry about things you cannot change. we're going to Disney World!!!
