Taping of Christmas Parade now November 10-13???

I can totally empathize with you OP because I was thrilled to find out that the parade would not be taping that first weekend in December which is when we will be there.

It isn't.
I'm not kidding.

And, far from "everyone" says that it is "bad."

The only part of the park that the parade taping affects is Main St. USA and/or the Hub.
The rest of MK is "business as usual" for that time of year until after about 2:30PM.
thanks for the info, do you know if getting around will be hindered at all? like once we get to one side of the park will it be impossible to get to another side since there will be no train?

Most of the "taping" extras are actually Cast Members and families. They get special tickets to be in specific spots for the filming. It isn't really an influx of regular guests. Most CMs stay where the taping is hoping to hear the music or leave and don't stick around to do rides.

I've been there 2 or 3 times on the actual parade taping day and it isn't that bad. Main Street is crowded but the rest of the park is not, at least not until later in the day when the taping is over. Also that it's being done on weekdays, it's not going to pull in as many locals. They have it listed over 4 days, only one of those days will be the actual parade, the rest will be show tapings, like in front of the castle. Those are not a big deal.

There is a brand new (beautifully-redesigned) guest walkway/bypass behind the east side of the Main Street buildings.

@ErinsMommy - I don't want to rain on your parade, but that entire week is typically very crowded as a lot of people are on vacation b/c of school closures. It's typically known as "Jersey Week". Check some sites with crowd calendars are you should be able to better manage the situation yourself. But what stinks is you probably already have all your dining and fast passes lined up.

Jersey Week is the week before, the week of Election Day.

Maybe yes, maybe no.
They changed that in the last couple of years, so we just don't know exactly what will take place on which days.
And, again, the vagaries of weather can figure heavily into the last-minute decisions of what they decide to actually do on what days.

OP, we are in the same boat and I am not happy about it either. My question is will I be able to get a picture with the castle in the background during this time? Will there be photopass photographers or is that just not going to happen.

It depends on what time of day, and what they are taping that day.
On some days in the past, they were shooting nowhere near the castle.

"Normally" (whatever that means at WDW,) the taping wraps and the stars, crew, and CM extras disappear from MK by about 2:00-3:00pm.

The idea of getting there early kind of gets thrown out the window when we're less than 30 days out and any hopes for rescheduling a breakfast ADR - at CRT nonetheless - will be impossible. Every day that passes Disney is making this trip less and less something to look forward to and get excited about at this point. :sad2:

I've been there during that time, and, trust me, it isn't bad! In fact, it wasn't even a blip on our park-touring radar. From our perspective, it had no effect on the crowd level, and it had zero effect on our time in the parks.

Jersey Week is 11/2-11/6. And we avoided that week due to those expected crowds.

Wowza. We did that walkway in June and while it was neat and clean it didn't look anything like that. That is gorgeous . . . and extremely convenient to use to avoid crowds.

so we're going nov 11-18 so now we're trying to figure out how to adjust our plans (if we need to at all)

how does this affect normally scheduled parades and fireworks?

Does this affect the MSEP at night? I would assume it wouldn't but thought I better ask just in case..

I'm kind of excited about this. I'll be there that week. Our MK days are Sunday 11/8 and Thursday 11/12. We planned on making the Thursday a resort pool day and then head to the MK around 3pm and stay for the Xmas Party (we have tix already). Will they publish a schedule of events? We may want to skip the pool and spend the entire day at the MK if we can be there for the parade or any special concert.

I am going to be at WDW from November 6-11 as I accompany a couple of my daughters who are doing the half marathon. I was planning on going to the MK on the 10th and will probably not change that because of the taping. My daughter who has been there on taping days before tells me that, while Main Street will be packed when they are taping, the attractions generally have shorter lines than they would otherwise.

??? You don't need to take the train to get from one part of the park to another. Just walk.

There is also a party on some of those days, so wondering how some of you experts think taping plus party will affect things? More people at the party? Fewer? Same? Who the heck knows?

We've got AP's so were planning on heading over between 2 and 3ish and then staying for the party on the 13th.

Regardless, we're going forward with things and will have a better time there than anywhere else we could be!!
