Taping of Christmas Parade now November 10-13???

I've been there during that time, and, trust me, it isn't bad! In fact, it wasn't even a blip on our park-touring radar. From our perspective, it had no effect on the crowd level, and it had zero effect on our time in the parks.

I experienced the same last year.

While I sympathize with the OP because of the difficulty that this causes, I am not sure how it is Disney's fault. They likely announced the taping as soon as they had the dates set. Its my understanding that there are a lot of different people and groups that have to be coordinated for these things and I doubt that firm dates can be set that far ahead of time. There is always a Christmas parade taping at some point around the holidays. Seriously, I sympathize, but I am just not sure what OP expected them to do.

??? You don't need to take the train to get from one part of the park to another. Just walk.
that's what i'm wondering, are we able to get around the filming, or are we going to be stuck in certain areas til they are done? i'm not sure how else to word this.

The bypass...I'm having trouble understanding exactly where it is. It looks like it starts next to Tony's...where is the other end? Is it only open when they want to give the crowds a way to pass Main Street, or is it always there and I just didn't notice it last month?

It is to the left [south] of the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant after you walk through it . . . right before the Plaza Restaurant. Not sure if it is always open, but in early June it was open as my son and I went to leave the park. It was so much faster cutting through then trying to "shove" your way down Main Street to get out.

The entire month of November has been predicted to be busy based on room availability, so I don't think the parade taping is going to be the reason OP has to deal with crowds.

Maybe then they need to not plan Christmas Parties until they can coordinate their dates for Christmas tapings. However irregardless of this latest glitch, frankly it is Disney's fault because they have a severely incompetent IT Department or just as horribly of a constructed website that constantly causes issues with reservations, dining and FPs -- and I'm not even sure whether its IT or just a sucky website and at this point I no longer even care. And speaking of FPs I was awake until 2:00 a.m. making them because of IT issues. I then had to create an entirely new account and have an IT manager transfer everything over. I can't see see I have a -0- balance. I can't modify my reservation to update it with airline information (thank god nothing changed but if it had, too bad for me I suppose) because that part of MDE page still has errors. Oh and 25 days out I still don't have yellow luggage tags. And I can go on and on with more issues I've had since planning this magical trip out 200+ days ago, but what's the point.

I do however have a collection of Incredible Booklets telling us how magical of a vacation it'll be. :headache:

When was this predicted?? Because at the time I booked this was not the case. At all.

You'll be able to get around.

If they're filming at the Castle stage, you'll be able to move around all the lands while avoiding the Hub.

If they are taping on Main Street or in Frontierland, you'll be able to circumvent those areas as you do when any parade runs through MK. Walk through stores or use the bypass that Robo linked.

There is a brand new (beautifully-redesigned) guest walkway/bypass behind the east side of the Main Street buildings.

Is this open all the time, or just in the am/pm when crowds are coming/ leaving?

I think with Free Dining being offered that week, Veterans day that week, and Jersey Week the week before, plus the Wine and Dine half on the 6th, and the last week of Food and Wine being that week, plus Christmas parties, it is shaping up to be a busy week.

I belong to a few November facebook groups and all of the people in that group struggled with dining reservations and room availability. Of course the dining reservation availability could be due to Free Dining being offered that week. I think it will be much busier than I thought when we originally booked.

I suppose its my fault for booking so early.

No. i started hearing it was going to be ridiculous about the time free dining was released and again when ADR's opened up.

Yeah its been around the boards, blogs, and various websites for quite a while now. I think even without that, if you know that Veterans Day is that week, Jersey week is the week before, the XMAS parties are starting, and F&W is ending, it is a safe bet that its been shaping up to be probably one of the top 5-10 busiest weeks of the year, and thats before FD was announced.

Does this mean there's a good chance that the big Christmas tree in MK will be up for the 1st MVMCP on 11/8? Is there anyway to get a schedule of the performers ahead of time? I leave on 11/10 but I almost would want to push my flight back to be able to experience a taping! Lol

we plan to be in the MK on Nov 11th :) I have mixed feeling about this however we are in the MK a total of 3 days and this happen on out first day so if crowds are too bad we still have two other full days to enjoy the park

At the time of booking, say 8 months ago (around when we booked), I didn't think it would be this busy. No one did. Fall is becoming a much busier time of the year with all of the neat offerings like the Halloween and Christmas parties, Food and Wine, and free dining. It's certainly not your fault that you booked at 200 days out, but it's also not Disney's fault that it's going to be busy while you're there.

Usually it is only open during high traffic times. I have only ever experienced it during parade times and after the fireworks.
