Tapestry of Nations parade

It would be wonderful if they brought back Tapestry in some form. It was an incredible parade and had a huge following of devoted fans. It was a difficult parade to manage, though. Besides the crowd control and the expense of the costumes and their upkeep, there were sooooo many Cast Members needed--even when they downgraded to only two parades. Those CMs were backstage waiting for the start of every parade--and so often the parades were cancelled because of weather conditions. Even wind gusts that seem very mild to us, would be treacherous for the CMs trying to control those huge puppets. I remember DD being caught by a gust one day and being blown over toward the edge of a bridge!! YIKES!! Of course, she was rescued by one of the parade monitors who were stationed all along the route. Still it was a scary experience. Interestingly enough, even with the difficulty of working with those puppets and the back and nexk aches they suffered, most of the CMs LOVED doing Tapestry. Even today, DD (who has now moved on to more Royal pursuits at MK) will eagerly take on an extra shift if it involves a 'Tapestry special.'

<snip> I hope they revive a version of this parade for the EPCOT 25th anniversary celebration.

Wow! I loved that parade, too.

That is a perfect idea for a reason to bring it back. I wonder if they still have the figures and floats. I know they used some for the AK parade. I loved the float with the rotating drums.

I taped the entire parade but for most of it you can hear the person who was standing next to me singing through the whole thing!!!! (Think American Idol gone awry). :scared:
Ooops! Sorry about that. :guilty:

Well if thats the case, then why wont they change out the MK parade? its definately time to switch out the MK daytime parade. Im tired of those snowglobes and that music!
I suspect that once it has had its run, as Tapestry had its, it'll be gone too.

I uploaded video from the Tapestry of Nations (2000 version) to my account on YouTube under my user name dfilpus

We saw Tapestry of Nations twice on our trip in 2000. It was amazing with those giant puppets, the drums and that awesome music. The children around us just loved it. I was so disappointed it wasn't on when we returned last year, but understand why. I believe you can still buy the CD - perhaps Tapestry of Dreams now, so will be looking out for it. Am I right in thinking they play the music after Illuminations when we are crowding out of the park? Seem to remember the 'way-la' music. Oh, that has set me off!!! If I could just find it online right now!
You can find it on Amazon.com , I just pulled it up! But it will cost you.....
"Like New" is going for $49.95 !!!
Wow.... I think I paid $16.99 for it in Oct 1999.

I LOVED this parade. It was my favorite parade at WDW. The music was so great. I have both versions on my Epcot cd's that I listen to all the time in the car.
